    Thanks for the video! Great tip on making sure the fan is set to high speed with light on from the switches to ensure the remote control functions work correctly.

    My wife and I sometimes prefer to shut off the fan/lights entirely via the wall switch when exiting the room. If you use the red “house” wire and cap the black “house” wire you can do this. But as this gentleman said, the receiver needs power so obviously it won’t work until you turn the switch back on. We have a fan in a different room that works this way so that’s just how we prefer it.

    You say these are not compatible with fans with "built in receivers". Does that mean fans with the remote control units that look like these? If not, do you remove the old remove unit from the canopy when you install this (or even try to fit this in the space for the old one?)?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thomas - When we say built-in receivers, we're mainly taking about DC motor fans or fan that have the receivers built-in to the motor housing. If you fan has a receiver like the one included, you can replace the original receiver with the one included with the new remote.

    How do I ensure proper remote control settings if everything is new? I purchased this universal remote and a new ceiling fan (Hampton Bay Malone 54”). You stated before turning the power off we are to turn the fan’s light on and set the fan speed to high using the pull chains. With the power shut down for removal of the old fan, I’m not sure what steps should be taken next since there won’t be a point where I’ll be able to use the new fan’s pull chains until all the wiring is completed and the power is turned back on. So, how do I ensure proper remote control settings?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once everything is set up and connected with the new fan, refer to your fan's manual regarding speed settings. If the manual says to pull the chain once for high speed, you should be able to pull the chain once (that will set it to high speed even though the power is off) and then use the remote to control the fan. If the manual states to pull the chain 3 times, then do that before using the remote. Same with the light. Alternatively, once everything is connected, you can set the remote to high speed and then pull the pull chain until it reaches high speed.

    helpful video, but I skipped taking down fan, taking off mount bracket, didn't put rubber pads, didn't disconnect any ground wires. did everything else, didn't have to put fan back on mount and didnt have to worry about grounds, still connected. then everything worked. so are the rubber pads really necessary? my fan is on a beam, and it has space for antenna without spacing... so am I good?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like you're good to go. The rubber pads are only necessary to make space for the WiFi antenna between the canopy and ceiling.

      the receiver uses 430Mhz frequency and the wifi network must be a 2.4 Ghz network.

    just installed a hamilton bay fan and remote works great but when i want to turn the lights using the wall switch it has a 5 second delay and the lights turn on how can i fix this delay i want them to turn on when i turn on the switch

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The delay is completely normal. If you want immediate response for the light, we would recommend connecting the receiver directly to the house wiring and not using a switch. When using a switch, there will be a delay between turning the switch on and the light coming on.

    I have a black green white copper and a red wire coming out of my ceiling I can’t figure out where the red wire goes and there’s nothing in the manual about it. Can you help? Thanks

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are not licensed electricians and you should contact a licensed electrician for wiring concerns, but... We would suggest just capping the red wire. Typically, the red wire is a switch wire that can be used instead of the house black wire. For a smart remote to work and retain its smart features, it needs to have a constant power supply which is why we would not recommend using this remote with a switch.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The receiver red wire (labelled AC IN L) should connect to the house black wire and you should just cap off the house red wire.

    😂How smart is this fan controller if you need a receiver ? I'm trying to find a controller that will be universal for Hampton Bay fans.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Smart term refers to the ability to inetgrate with Alexa or Google devices as well as smart devices like phones or tablets. Any universal remote will include a receiver that must be installed in the fan. The receiver is needed for the remote to communicate with and control the fan.

    Is it supposed to make a ticking noise when i change the fan speed ? It occasionally makes two ticking sounds when changing fan speeds but mainly only happens once. It doesn’t do it with the light, only when turning the fan on and off and changing the fan speed. I bought mine from amazon and installed it onto my fan. Could this be an issue with my wiring?
