The girl was orginally wrote to be his love interest but Ralph refused to kiss her or do anything romantic because he was already in his late 20s and she was 17 so they switched it to a platonic friendship.
Ralph seems to be a very stand up guy in real life.

Julie is definitely coming back in season 6, she’s already been referenced back in season 2 when Daniel told Robby & Samantha that this is the first time Miyagi-Do has seen more than 1 student in a long time which could also be referring to her love interest Eric as well, also Julie & Daniel definitely met each other again at Mr Miyagi’s funeral, as for Col Dugan & Ned not sure if they’ll come back but if they do I guarantee Jon, Josh & Hayden will find a fun creative way to bring them back

I know it's cheesetastic but I absolutely love this movie. It's bonkers! Fun fact, Thomas Ian Griffith who plays a damn Vietnam Vet is ACTUALLY a few months younger than Ralph Macchio during the time of this film.

Ah, Mary, you're forgetting, this was the 80s. You couldn't just easily go look someone up. There was no internet, no mighty Google oracle to answer all our questions. Telephones were attached to the wall, you couldn't go for a run with your tunes, and there was no instant information on anything at all besides live TV or live radio. Doing research on an individual involved many trips to many libraries and a lot of perusing of old newspapers and public records.

Terry Silver carried this film. The perfect villain along with John Creese and them together they make great bad guys
Terry Silver was able to manipulate Daniel because he was a hothead. Despite his friendship and loyalty to Miyagi and their dojo's philosophy, Daniel's temperament mirrored that of Cobra Kai. All Silver had to do was wind him up and get out of the way.
Yeah, Daniel so much alike Johnny, but either too proud or too stupid to realize it. I'm sure Mr Miyagi saw it and tried his best to steer Daniel away from such explosive aggression and to find the Zen like peace of himself. In that regards, Mr Miyagi failed, because Daniel was a "strike first guy" in his heart and no amount of Pat Morita's wisdom was going to change that.
leo, my instructor in ITF TKD in HS talked about cultivating relationships. You can cultivate the good or the bad. Silver wanted to cultivate bad in people.
That's the spiritual aspect of martial arts, that's why it's better to lean real martial arts....MMA doesn't teach that aspect, especially not with a white instructor. Martial arts comes from Asia, you want someone of Asian descent to teach that part.
Yeah it is ever so apperent in the Cobra Kai series how much the two ar similar.

While a step down in overall quality compared to parts 1 & 2, this movie still has its moments of heart and soul. It also helped enriching the foundation for the Cobra Kai show (which is a must watch and just as good as the first Karate Kid) to build upon.

Now you MUST, YOU MUST start watching Cobra Kai!!!! You have the background info of the franchise now. It’s going to so pay off when you watch Cobra Kai. You, my friend are going to LOVE it! I can’t wait. I get so excited when reactors get through the trilogy and then continue. My favorite moment came in season 4, episode 2. Everyone here knows what I’m talking about. But, there are just so many excellent moment in the show, it’s sometimes hard to pick one. The show is so well written, acted, etc, highly recommended.
BothTerry Silver and Kreese are great villains in the Cobra Kai series, they even manage to expand their backstory and made Kreese a sympathetic and tragic figure.

Morita still charms, Macchio still tightropes between petulence and raw optimism, whilst the fight scenes are competent enough to offset the woeful romantic sub-plotting.
I mean.. pretty sure there is actually no romantic subplot to speak of. It was made pretty clear Daniel had no love interest in this movie, just a female friend that helped him and Mr. Miyagi

I saw this in the movie theater back in 89 and when Miyagi threw Barnes through the door, the whole theater cheered. It was an awesome sight.
You might have missed it. Kreese saved Silver’s life in Vietnam. Terry feels indebted to Kreese. The way he saw it , it was Mr. Miyagi and Daniel who had hurt and destroyed his friend. He wanted to make them pay for what they did to the man who saved his life. This was Silver’s motivation.
I really hope Mary does the Cobra Kai series after the last Karate Kid movies.

Best show I have ever seen that lasted more than 5 seasons. Usually, a new series starts off fantastic, but then they run out of ideas, and they don't know how or when to end a show. But with Cobra Kai, it just seems to get better and better. I am excited to see season 6 of Cobra Kai. I think the writers had the end in mind from the very beginning of the series, and all these seasons have been leading up to an epic ending.

There's actually a 4th Karate Kid movie as well. Its called The next karate kid. Hillary Swank stars in it. It came out in early 90s.
lol, "why'd you call the cops for?" That's hilarious after just watching part 2 with Chozen, and Mary asking where the cops were when Chozen was trying to kill Daniel pretty much the entire movie.

We Karate Kid fans decreed that Karate Kid 2 is the actual 3rd Karate Kid, and Karate Kid 3 is the second movie, because Daniel grew up and became good in 2, but in the 3rd he was like a high school ding-a-ling, so yeah.
The movie franchise story ends here for Daniel LaRusso. Mr Miyagi has one more film where he trains a young woman in The Next Karate Kid (1994). Then they did a total remake with Karate Kid (2010) with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith (Will Smith's son). Then years later, the story for Daniel LaRusso however did continue, in the Netflix series 'Cobra Kai', which is ending soon I believe with its sixth season.
Honestly the TV show gets so much milage mining this movie for untapped gold

Doing in depth character background investigation was a lot harder back then and probably would have involved spending a great deal of time at the library and scrolling through old newspaper and magazine articles, visiting records offices and paying for document requests, doing interviews with associates of....
I think the modern generation sometimes fails to understand just how much easier information sharing has become post-early 1990s.

I’d understand if you don’t upload reactions for the Cobra Kai series but I’d most definitely watch your reactions to it, for sure! One of the best shows IMHO as the writers for the series are true fans of the Miyagi-verse and they’ve executed the continuation very well!

This movie makes me feel bad for the way Daniel's and Miyagi's relationship deteriorate. At the same time, i get Miyagi not wanting Daniel to fight...still it gets pretty outrageous when they are attacking and even beating up a girl and threatening to leave them to drown and Miyagi still wants Daniel to be 100% turn the other cheek. 🤷♂️
The last couple seasons of Cobra Kai really elevate this movie. Terry Silver is just great. I know you mention the ridiculousness of his actions but the way they address it in Cobra Kai is genius.
Out of the trilogy, it isnt the best but that scene where Daniel is pretty much beaten on the mat and falling to pieces, until for the first time Miyagi actually shouts at him. "You must focus." That part gets me just as much as the crane kick.
Terry runs a toxic waste company called Dynatox and that is why he was talking about Borneo

Sure it was ridiculous that Terry Silver had no motive of torturing Daniel, but it kinda raises the entertainment level because it’s more suspenseful if there’s no motive.

It’s pretty insane that these two grown adults dedicate their whole lives to ruining the life of this teenager. But that insanity is kind of what makes this one so much fun. I don’t see think this one is as bad as the ratings for it. Terry Silver is such an amazing over the top villain. I love it. His ridiculousness is what makes him so great in my book

“Cool Runnings” is another great sports movie that you should definitely check out if you haven’t seen it.
The Next Karate Kid is worth it, just to see Mr. Miyagi again. Pat Morita was just so good in that role ( and sounded almost nothing like him in reality lol). Cobra Kai is that rare exception of Hollywood updating something for "modern audiences" but still respecting the original material. Very good series.
I like all three movies about equally. I like the corniness in this one too. I think it's interesting for a Karate Kid villain to use physiological warfare and manipulation as well as physical threats.

The best thing to come out of it is the introduction of Terry Silver.

the bad guys in this made total sense. Silver cared so much because Kreese saved his life in the war. He feels deep devotion to him and thats why e made it his business. If you watch Cobra Kai you learn more of their back story
Terry Silver is my favorite villain of the series, followed closely by Chozen. Johnny is at the bottom because he was just a high school bully. The reason I like Silver is because he was able to mess with him physically and mentally.

Silver and Kreese were war buddies. Kreese saved Silver’s life in Vietnam so he always felt a debt to him.
Also, Kreese told Silver what happened on the way to the airport and it was completely from his point of view. He pretty much played the victim and painted Daniel and Miyagi as the bad guys.
Also, both Kreese and Silver are evil, so there is that.
The recap of the previous two movies at the beginning of The Karate Kid Part III is the best part of The Karate Kid Part III.
Don't forget about The Next Karate Kid. That will be all the movies in franchise. Then there's a reboot with Jackie Chan.

I took driver ed at a community college, where I earned a college credit and transferred half a unit back to my high school toward my graduation requirements and grade average there. Thomas Ian Griffith plays a great villain. When you get a chance, check out John Carpenter's Vampires. He played the lead villain in that one too and he was awesome. Also he was in Kull: The Conqueror.
Oh Mary! If you do want to, The Next Karate Kid is the last "older" Karate Kid movie with Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi! It's not as good as the first two again, but it is better than this one for sure, by a pretty good margin.

4:34 I felt for Mr. Miyagi here. This place had to be his sanctuary after losing his wife and unborn son and returning from the war.
You must not start Cobra Kai yet because next movie in line is _The Next Karate Kid_ (1994) where Pat Morita will be playing Miyagi again to train Hillary Swan's character.
This is my favorite. Originally the 1st movie was my favorite. Then as I got older the 2nd was my favorite. But in my 40s and now 50s this one held up the best for me. The good vs evil is more defined to me. More of a spiritual battle.
There is a comfiness to Karate Kid III.
