I could hardly blame Daniel for being angry. It’s loss of control. He didn’t want to move cross country, didn’t want to lose his old friends, he was humiliated and ditched by the kids who brought him to the party, and found himself in the middle of the toxic aftermath of Johnny and Alli’s relationship.
Oh and until meeting Mr. Miyagi, he had no father figure.

Ralph Macchio (Daniel) is actually 4 years older than William Zabka (Johnny) and 2 years older than Elisabeth Shue (Ali). Which is crazy to think about because he does look a lot younger. Johnny's line at the end "You're all right Larusso, good match" is worth remembering.

    • @Snoeflekz

Yeah, all three were born in October-November, and filming began on October 31, 1983. So Macchio would actually have celebrated his real-life 22nd birthday on set, while Shue and Zabka would've turned 20 and 18 just a few days/weeks before filming.

FUN FACT: Elizabeth Shue is basically a legend not only in cinema, but life. When she was a teen, she was part of a revolution she spearheaded in her childhood town where she broke a glass ceiling to allow girls to play soccer and won. So, it's quite a wink-wink inside joke of the filmmakers to have the scenes where Danny is teaching Alli (with an 'i') when Shue already had soccer skills. She along with Ralph's soccer coach on the movie worked with him for mastering the soccer/ Hackesack move of kicking the ball to himrself. Pretty cool. Elizabeth Shue is an icon.

One thing that isn't talked about is how Krese and Miyagi both are war veterans but they feel very different about war. And it embodies their style and thinking. Krese displays his war career like it's a true honor and is boisterous, he trains students as if it's still a war. Miyagi is ashamed almost, and believes fighting and war is bad, even though he probably did more than Krese.. :(
Also when Daniel asks "were you ever scared when fighting"
    And Miyagi answers "always afraid"
I kind of interpret it as him thinking about the war.

The Military Unit that Miyagi was serving in when he received the Telegram informing him of the death of his wife and newborn son became the most decorated Military Unit in US History. The Date of the Telegram (Nov. 2, 1944) was just after Miyagi's unit fought a major battle where they suffered over 800 casualties rescuing another Unit from Texas that had been surrounded by German troops. Not only is this directed by John G Avildsen, who also directed Rocky, the score was composed by Bill Conti, who also composed the score for Rocky. There's a Rocky/Karate Kid mashup on TH-cam that cuts the ending of Karate Kid to fit the last minute of "The Final Bell", the musical piece that plays at the end of Rocky after the fight when he is calling for Adrian.

I could go on forever about "fun facts" concerning this trilogy, but other's already are doing that. I'll just say that I love this movie, as well as the second one. The third one is somewhat iffy for me, but it's still decent. But if you plan on watching Kobra Kai, you'll have to watch all three. Pat Morita was in a famous sitcom: Happy Days. He played the cook in a diner that high schoolers frequented. It starred other notables such as Ron Howard and Henry Winkler (Fonz). Fonz had this trick to lightly pound a machine and it would start. He did this with the jukebox, a car, a motorcycle. Jumping the shark is also a phrase that came from this show. The Fonz decided to pull a stunt that involved him on water ski pulled by a boat. The boat would lead him to a ramp and he would be pulled over the shark. The show went into decline after that.
