    The 3 stars in the eye of Anubis for the 2014 reprint was fascinating. I really wish they just put the year of the reprint on the card. If I am buying unlimited i only want the 1st print of the unlimited, which are the 2002-2004 series for my personal collection

    I have foils I pulled myself out of a Legendary Collection Binder and they don't have stars, so your theory is probably right. However you can easily notice them because they look very different from the original ones when it comes to surface and color. I find the recent reprints to be pretty close to the original. Sometimes its really hard to tell if it's a reprint without looking for the stars.

    • @Ruxin34

    Also an easy way to compare between original unlimited and reprints. Is that reprints have really really tiny pixels that form the card. If you zoom in you will only see clear lines and colors. The original has large pixels. So if you zoom in you will see dots that form the lines and colors of the card

    You missed one of the easiest and in my opinion the most important is the errata (card effect text). Most reprints had an errata like the Invader of Darkness in your video.

    • @obitodmg5694
      @obitodmg5694 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exact, you just have to look at a first edition card text and the unlimited from 2002-2004 has the same text, while the unlimited from 2010 or later have the errata, also raigeki, doesn't only have "spell card" instead of "magic card" it has also got an errata text, you can also see it with DMOC, the 2010 reprint has a shorter text, with the last line being long half of the available space, while the 2004 DMOC, like the first edition one, has got its last line of full lenght text. Also with blue eyes, while the text is the same, it is spaced in a different way, so the last word ends in a different point in the 2002 and 2010 versions.

    • @Adrianopi101
      @Adrianopi101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely true. I think that all the reprints (at least for IOC I’ve checked) have the errata taken from Dark Revelation. I think that reprints take the errata from Dark Revelation/Dark Beginning even for the others old days cards

    The eye of anubis stamps are gold in 1st edition, and silver in unlimited. Just wanted to clear that up for everyone. The way ruxin made it sound is if you have a silver stamp, its fake.

    • @Ruxin34
      @Ruxin34  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @adrenaleet

    Good way to describe that ripple effect on the reprint is by saying orange peel. It looks like how cheap car paint looks, and people refer to that effect as orange peel. Easy way to tell a good paint job from a poor one.
    Anyways, now I know how to spot the difference between original and reprints! Thanks!

    Didn‘t know about the story with those Ultimate Rares! People are selling those for $150+. Glad I didn‘t buy one of those. But why are they so worthless? Were they so much easier to get? Or is the population just higher? And are there any pictures of that product that contained those silver Eye of Anubis Ultis? 😄

    • @Ruxin34
      @Ruxin34  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      dickvieh the price is mainly dictated by the fact that they are not legit cards. Most collectors don’t want a fake version of the card, so it is not in high demand. Also, there were a lot of extra produced so it also hurt the perceived value of the original because there appears to be a large quantity of Flame Wingmen on the market, but really it is mostly the silver stamped ones. I saw a picture once but I will have to look around for it!

    WOULD APPRECIATE THE READ: Reprints on secrets, especially, are actually significantly more rare from the 2010 LC01 reprint than the ones beginning in 2014 when they went back to the old style of printing for two reasons. 1) They didn't reprint LC01 in mass like they are right now and have been for a few years. 2) In contrast, there are right now an endless supply of the 2014 stock due to mystery boxes. I think distributors went in HEAVY on the reprints because the set was worth so much, but then they flooded the market and no one was buying ON TOP OF more prints of God cards coming out, which was a lot of the long term value in LC01. As a result, they started throwing together mystery boxes to recuperate lost value.
    BTH, these reprints are far more fascinating an intrinsically valuable than unl original printing... 1st is obviously always going to be the most sought after.. But the unl from the same print run is just that - the same print. Only difference is the 1st ed and gold stamp. The ones I'm talking about are two completely different print styles later. That's just what they are: styles. It's not really a matter of good or bad quality.
    I know you don't have a ton of subs, so it won't reach a ton of people, but let me know if you know what I'm talking about and want to do a video. I would THINK that you have an example of this already, but I can provide you one, secret and ultra examples. Maybe you don't know about them because there wasn't an example in your video? There are other phenomena outside of LC01 as well that I can share with you. I'm pretty much an expert because I seem to be the only one who cares, but give it time (and your video, presumably) and people will start to get wise and want these specific prints.
    I hope this interests you. You could really break this knowledge into the collection world and maybe people will start paying attention to those details bringing them to market rather than rolling the dice on buying unl prints.

    • @Ruxin34
      @Ruxin34  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay- so you are referring to the 2010 reprints throughout this correct? The ones from the Legendary Collection binders?
      I have wanted to know the difference between the 2010 and 2014 reprints. The 2014 seem to have those stars in the eye- while I believe the 2010 don’t.

    • @ddrguy3008
      @ddrguy3008 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ruxin34 Starting from DREV all the way to PRIO, the printing process for sets changed (though oddly not for hidden arsenal sets) giving a more matte type finish to the card quality. The easiest rarity to tell with this distinction is Secret Rare: Just look at anything pre DREV in secret and compare it to anything secret DREV to PRIO - The lines are heavily defined and ridged, where as the old secrets give much more of a stary night sky look. The DREV on printing can you tell where the secret lines begin and end and they are unchanged at every angle. There is still this stary night sky effect but it is behind very clear lines that would either block the view of said sky, or let you see it, and that happens in perfect pairs.
      Think of it this way: Old secrets are like looking as secret foiling when you need glasses. New secrets - you put on some glasses and can see the definition better. Up until 2014 printing process change, that is. When Duelist Alliance/Pendulums came out, they went back to the old style of printing with secrets/they changed the print style back to the way it was, but with slightly new equipment.
      Except all EU/AU printings maintained the original secret look through that period.
      But like I said, those are the easiest ways to tell when the printing happened, but they also share the same matte type qualities with other rarity prints for super/ultra. I'm not sure about commons and rares... The 2014+ might be slightly darker..? But I'm not sure. Not that commons and rares are any focus every unless 1st ed lob.
      The printing process from 2014+ went back to the old style of secret rare foiling. As for the other rarities, they became just a bit more glossy. You really need physical examples to be able to make these distinctions.
      And like I said, there are other print runs where these differences occurred in similar fashions: CRMS, STON, LCYW, ABPF, TSHD, and they all have their own unique stories on when changes occurred and why they are different.
      The eye of anubis star method is not fullproof. This was something they added to the stamp in the couple of years and seems to have started when they started making the stars and attribute/card type foil starting in BLLR/COTD. Which means that they have been printing those sets at least since the star thing started. I have some 2014+ prints that have the stars and some that don't.
      Would you want to do a video on this? If you are seriously interested, I can start putting together a package/kit that goes through the history and differences of all of these print changes.
      p.s. sorry for being 6 months late to the video. lol
      edit: started to gather stuff together. Have about half. Chilling until you let me know you'd like to make the video/videos

I can not find anything similar on the internet to compare to. All are holographic, and have gold text, and are 1st edition. They also have the foil stamp that shows part of YUGIOH text and the Millennium eye. It seems that the whole face of the card is a foil overlay.
