Hi anwar , i have some question about your new bike tarmac sl7 , because i wanna buy this color too. May i know How is your experience about riding this matte colour ? Is the frame easily got scratch or stone chip while riding ? Or do you have any xtra protection on the frame ? I like this color very much, but dont know what will happened when riding out this matte finish color. Many thanks if you would like share the experience to me .. about getting this matte paint job. 😀
How was the sl7 on this long ride? Was it comfortable? I’m torn between the tarmac and the aethos, I don’t think I’ll ever be fast enough to race. Especially not at the level of every second counts and I love long rides so was wondering if the sl7 turns your spine to dust on big rides? Both bikes are so nice but if I’m not racing should I just stick with the bike that is supposedly the most comfy?
If you wanna race I encourage you to give it a go. When i started last year I was lucky to go 10 miles started off at at almost 300 lbs now down to 190. Kept working to gain distance did structure training in the winter then kept training and got dropped my first race lol. But I kept working and now finally feel like my fitness is there a year and half in but still learning. Honestly if your interested in racing give it a shot it’s fun just to go out at the novice level. Okay onto to the bike. It was good for me I had a fit right before hand which helped out a ton. Worst part was I switch chamois brands right before soooo not doing that again lol. To me the most important aspect of a bike though when your not racing is what is something you’ll enjoy riding everyday you can make a few tweaks like tire width and fit to make it more comfortable for long rides but if your not out riding it dosent make a difference. If pure comfort is what your looking for something for long rides though I’d honestly say roubaix. It has the future shock up front wider clearance for tires and comes with 30mm tires. The roubaix was more designed for longer rides and slightly tougher terrain you saw the pros ride in the Tour de France before they introduced the tarmac in the gravel sections.
@@AnwarEatonCycling thanks for getting back. Yeah I can see how swapping out would be a bad choice last minute. Maybe I might do a race sometime. I’ve done some on zwift and won a cat D. May try next year, been riding a few years but only last year I took it seriously and now I’m riding every day and like you im losing weight and feeling fitter and thinking of upgrading my specialized Allez it’s super comfy but also a bit squishy. I did actually try a roubaix but it did feel a lot like the allez. The tarmac really does look so sweet but again if I’m only going to race a little it could be a shout. But if it’s comfortable and doesn’t make your lower back scream especially with a bike fit then I would definitely edge towards it more. I think I was just nervous not being able to walk after a 160km ride or not. (I do also like to do some short sharp training rides, maybe should have mentioned that in the first comment)
Great job overall!!! You need a wahoo, that’s one that can help you so that you can download the route. if your doing the intelligentsia go I group rides with Juston group
Do you have any tips for knowing about how long you were able to ride going into it, like in training did you just try to ride more and more distance and if so at what point either in distance or power did you finally feel like you knew you could handle the ride? Congrats!
So as far prep goes I started in the winter used trainer road and entered the event in as an a race so that geared all my training towards this event. Then when spring hit I started with a 70 mile, then did a 100 mile ride. Biggest thing you have to figure out before is nutrition. Like which gels work for you, do you need a water fuel (like skratch superfuel or beta fuel), what kind of non race fuel sits well on your stomach when you do break. The reason I put so much emphasis on this is just since you don’t want to yak while riding and I have a sensitive stomach while riding. Doing the 100 mile ride before will definitely put that to the test. To be honest as long as you can hold a speed around of 15 mph with taking minimal stops you’re good to go. I mean there’s some people who are more experienced with these but for the first one it seems like it’s a matter of will. But I’d definitely recommend TrainerRoad. If you’d like a free trial feel free to hit me up on on Instagram I have a few so could give you one.

So far color has help up well no chipping or anything. I didn’t put any protection on it just wash it here and there and so far so good
