He's not only a legend in dub music, he also once won the world cup (by himself), and even destroyed the space invaders! Next, he ridded the world of the evil curse of the vampires! He has singlehandedly saved Planet Earth several times back in the1980's! THANK YOU, Scientist!
Scientist was mixing Mikey Dread/Fully Fullwood band years ago and I asked him a few questions-he invited me backstage so we could have a proper conversation! A vey nice gentleman and true sonic innovator.
Red Bull has a HUGE part in music and culture, in promoting and supporting, and giving a lot of artists a big platform. Same thing in sports. Look at it in that way.
Inna FINE STYLE!! Scientist WINS THE WORLD CUP!!!! Massive Raspect to Hopeton!! Growing up in Silver Spring Maryland I bumped his music hard as a youth; never knowing we lived inna de same area!!! I would LOVE to see him in a live stylee sometime soon!!! Boom SHOT!!!!
Scientist the master, and probably my favourite mixer of all time - I had some of Scientist recordings form the very beginning but back in 1979 when I bought Linval Thompson's 'Only One More Chance' and heard the dub that Scientist mixed on that tune, everything changed...you knew you were hearing something special. Special days, so much wicked music mixed by Perry, King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Scientist, Crucial Bunny, Professor, Peter Chemist and others.
Believe it or not... I'm from germany, hobby dub producer / musician... Had a phone call with scientists for about 2 hours, because he offered me a remix of my stuff on MySpace years ago and posted his real phone number... I just couldn't believe the number was real, but it actually was and suddenly I had hopeton brown on the phone line... I was shivering and did not really know what to say... I felt like a little school girl standing in front of her idol... I will always remember that phonecall because I grew up my whole youth (I'm 43 now) with dub reggae, scientist, prince jammy, Lee perry etc... We talked about dub foundation time, the late 70s and 80s, about Jamaica, about Germany, you could easily say about God and the universe... Could not afford the dub remix at the time, although he offered me the dub for a friendship piece about 500 $... I still think about it from time to time, and that it was a big mistake not to have the remix done... I think, I would still listen to it every day if I had agreed with that once in a lifetime offer... I mean, come on, a personal scientist dub wise of your tune... Who would not like to own something like that, when you are a hardcore dub head... By the way, he is a very nice and eloquent guy, interested in everything, not only dub music
Watching people like Scientist and Lee Scratch Perry mix and add effects on the fly reminds me of live session view workflow of Ableton Live... ~two decades before it existed. Inspiring.
@@MrCash-lm1xz Not modern dubstep. It doesn't even contain dub which is why some people started calling it "brostep" as a way to make fun of Americans. Timbah on Toast has a really good video on this.
If you need to know sometime about theroots of DUIB or DUBWISE you should watch this video about the legendary studio engineer Hopeton Brown Aka "The Scientist". This gy brought a new revolutionary to recording engineering and mix- remixing in reggae music . Dub as it is known went to influence many other genres of music. !
Very nice to see these guys working together! People like Scientist really laid the foundation for today's electronic music styles. How sad though, that they need to promote some ugly artificial drink in order to be featured.
Strange. I remember scientist only as a cartoon character on album covers, when I used to buy them as a youth. Greensleaves record label. Chirribiddy-boom-skeng. flash-it, dub-it !!! Cannot believe he was in London. How did I miss-it.
It saddens me to think that the world embraces Dub and we Jamaicans don't know what we have. I watched this Vid and me thinks producers here don't have a clue.

sooperheep Yes - Demon Drink. You must be a consumer.
That is the future of capitalism, I'm not sure what that would require, but many rich people have invested in making that a reality and it may one day happen. Your belief is actually closer to that of a libertarian than a liberal, and it would work in America, but the rest of the world would need to make many changes to be able to do that.

I hate it when I go to school and talk about dub and then they say "Oh yeah! I love Dubstep!" NO! That is not dub!
It's worse when people don't know the difference between US and UK Dubstep. I be like, why do you even have ear holes?!?
