Dub is still so interesting. It's incredible what was being composed in the studios on the island of Jamaica in the 70s. Apart from the fact that it's musical language in its own right - never mind that it influenced musical studio engineering around the world and across so many musical styles. You just cannot ignore that comes from the roots and culture narrative about injustice. And it was undoubtedly born of the Rastafari faith, undoubtedly African drum and percussion based. Produced in Jamaica for a disillusioned UK youth, mostly first generation Brits with Jamaican/Carribbean/Reggae music connections, and living under racist oppression in the only homeland to grow up in. Poverty, inequality, and a unique set of cultural circumstances put you in a difficult place regards to food, musical heritage, socialisation, education, authority, the general public and the media pressure was not typically British for you if we're who you were. First generation. Back to the dub, and to the Jamaican music business of the day. Dub provided the opportunity for so many versions by so many artists to produce a variety released versions of a particular song on a variation of the same riddim (rhythm). The joy of the music and/song was not locked up in copyright anywhere like in the developed world where creativity tightly enforced for by mega music publishers. However, recognision for creative results and the rewards did not get shared in justly fashion.
Nice!!.. could nt have said it better. 🎯🎯🎯

In 1973 I was 12 yrs old and listened to this in st Mathews crypt in Brixton.
Shouts from an irish man born in 73 . Used to live in brixton. Down peckham way now
I was in Wembley in 73. Then South Harrow. Another lifetime.
Does anybody know the history of that club? It's a spanish themed place now
In UK punk and reggae went together in the late 70s, as they were both protest music. We all hung out together. From what I remember it was only when the Caribbean Club opened that it changed. Punks weren't welcome.
I wasn't around during this time, was born in 82, but grew up in different part of the world, Mexico to be exact. I only learned of Reggae through Tv, but wasn't enough to understand it or listen to it, as i grew in my teenage years I became drawn into Dub through my friends and still to this day have most respect to it. Thanks for the history lecture, I appreciate it.

Real Selecta!!!!! Respect to Reggae ❤
The spring reverb is a voice in itself NICE! The delays and the acoustic space is so RICH ... it frames simply musical ideas and moves them forward through time in a way that is so mellow and natural ... YET the Power is still there!
That's the power of analogue gear - it really does sound different and like no other effect, usually because these pedals were hand made and get battered, acquiring a unique sound.
Great stuff!
Well said
Now we can decipher all these analog .reverb was JAMAICAN dub

Great Reggae Music.
Ahhhh. Nice …. Strong …. Herb…. Praise…. Thanks… 🙏
This music is incantatory: Survive barbarism. Regenerate our soul and our body through the power of rhythm. To still believe in a better future for humanity and forge it by tirelessly glorifying and perpetuating the energy of life. This is the mission of the sons and daughters of Amon-Ra. 🌞
Those epic bits where it fades out I just imagine the Rasta who singing this drops his joint down on floor while holding mic onto floor crawling on floor higher than snoop dog, trying to find his joint on stage in the haze of smoke, he finds it picks it up has a small puff, rolls over sleeps for 10 seconds gets up real quick takes another nice toke, then slowly gets up while puffing on it slowly Tryna gain balance with his hands put a bit haha, just imagine
Cringe
Clearly spent no time with Rasta

Memories when I was repairing some kit a studio nuff testing was going on mids tops but always got told off regularly with the bass
Still listening to this while I work 4 years and counting
It amazes me how dub has evolved from something quite crude in the beginning to becoming TOTAL TECHNOLOGY, by which i mean artists do not even have to meet, but can send a sound byte half way around the planet and be dubbed into another piece of music elsewhere. Its so innovative and variations are almost endless. I think the only thing holding it back now is the limit of ones own imagination. That aside, i being a bear of very little brain, will sit hear and absorb and enjoy more and more. Once created, is ageless as all good music naturally is. There are only two types of music on the planet, you either like it or you don't. More if this please.
