hes allways been super creative, his earliest recordings are interesting,as hes using less state of the art equipment, but using it to its maximum, and still creating good dubs,he uses a bass filter on many of his dubs too
This was great. Love Jamaican Music. Been watching videos on: Sly & Robbie, Lee Perry, Mad Professor & Scientist. Also Black Uhuru & Third World. Dub music is so Hypnotic. oNe LovE from NYC.

Legendary. Would love to hear more about how Mr. Perry worked and balanced the mix. I bet there are many stories. sounds very interesting to know what you observed by him having worked so close.
Great info. Helped me build a formula to add to my sound which has dub qualities which are in my blood from my youth but i use that inspiration for my experimental/ industrial type sound. This man is a legend and one of my inspirations. Thank you
Great Video ! After watching a lot of guitar pedal histories, this explanation nails it down completely. Especially for the reverb. Short, to the point and with great vocal exemples ! Nice guy.
Must've been a mixup with analog / electronic. i.e. not using tape. But then again, since BBD uses a pulse signal that samples the amplitude, it's almost a bit like digital... but stil analog.
Hey míster Prince, good morning, I have one question, If you use tape recorder with fixed speeds, normally 2, 7,5 and 15ips, what tempo for the song in bpm are the best? Many thanks for all!
He's talking about pre 70s when a song's tempo was less defined. Many of the best dub tunes have delay times set to 3/8 or 3/16 but this can still be a bit crude and not exactly in sync with the tempo of the song. Which can give a wonderfully organic 2nd tempo within the main rhythm. Digital fx lack this character unless you dial in the inconsistencies, which is kinda inauthentic imo. You also have to remember that drummers only started to play along to a click track/metronome once digital recording and MIDI became a thing in the mid 80s. Prior to that the drummer set the pace for the rest of the band. A delay would have to work around the drummer, not the drummer pandering to effects. Peace
guys, please - I'd LOVE to sub this video to Portuguese, it'd help so many people! it's a shame that such wonderful content would be kept from brazilian audiences only because of the language barrier. is this possible, in any way? cheers!
Mad Professor is a prime example to me. When you hear his music as a Dub engineer he is truly the teacher.

You can see the humble beauty of that character! Bless!

these interviews are so sick....awesome!
The effects make the dub and give essential flavour.

Cool profile style
Feel Good
great interview with the great man
A proper dub lesson,wisdom
He actually has this one live dubbing video here in youtube called "a dub lesson" mad professor which sounds sick too
Bucket brigades were analog delays but that shows you god can be wrong and still love you.
They weren’t just for delay. Time based things like flanging and phasing also use bucket brigade circuitry.

wombattim it’s easy to think that because he’s as old as he is, he thinks of small electronics as digital.
Gwan Prof ....Dub me crazy pt 1 is a classic
Surprised they didn't use Melos DE-1 analog delay units, even I had one in the 80's for my CB radio mic !
RESPECT major teaching
thank you for these!
Thank You for sharing sir
