Ron Pratt saw this video and instantly went and bought a blue and white guardian angle and it’s on my gear at fire house. Anytime I’m on the road I’ll be using it and also depending on the fire I may bring in pocket in case of emergency light her up can’t hurt to have some extra light to say I’m here in emergency in fire or on side road. Thank you so much.

Ron, One thing you can learn from the off road community - when you give instructions on turning the wheel, you say either to turn driver, or turn passenger. Otherwise they don't know if you mean your left or their left. Of course the other half the issue is for those that are dyslexic, it makes more sense.

You make a good point here. Because most people need us just once ...... maybe twice .... in their lives ... we really are a forgotten area of expertise. For example : the British Government introduced a scrappage scheme in 2010 that took half a million older cars off the road in eleven months. Our business turnover dropped by 75% in that same period. We went without for six and a half years . Many recovery operators went out of business. NOBODY CARED. The only time we get remembered is when we, and our trucks, are urgently needed at a breakdown or a crash. After 34 years of the job I have a lot of memories .......

We’ve been having our fair share of the storms here in Eastern Washington. Your videos have given me a new appreciation for all the work that towing and recovery workers put in. Today I passed a semi that ran off the road last night and workers were emptying it and hooking up to it. I found myself getting so mad at the people that couldn’t bother to slow down a little and give them some space. Thank you guys and all the other first responders for everything you do!! God bless!!

Tyler Wurl , yes I believe it’s been some 70 years that your area, has had anything REMOTE, I saw a house with a collapsed roofs, but I don’t think roofs there have any designed snow loading built in.
Sorry for how things are going, we got down a week ago to 0.8^F, frozen pipes, then a new steam boiler , by chance., $16,2k house was 50^F inside.Maplewood N.J Cheers.

Ron, I lived 6 years in Wichita, Kansas -- that was back in the mid-50's to 1963! When we moved from there, it was 15 below (actual temperature-no windchill figured in) and there was 2.5 feet of snow on the ground. We've seen some icy weather since then, but we moved to North Central Florida in 1967! It's a far sight warmer here in the winter!

Great channel. Safety reminder for all you truck drivers, please be careful in the windy conditions with the trailer doors. A truck driving friend of my dad opened a door all the way around to the side and whilst leaning into the trailer the wind blew the door around and it hit him across the lower back and paralysed him. Seeing Ron fighting with the door reminded me. Take care, be safe. From the UK

Knights of the Road for keeping the Young Lady safe and warm, and getting both trucks out of trouble, this really was an interesting video, simply because many years ago, I was once in a situation where I broke down in bad winter weather like this, my Broms Brake Valve had frozen open, you'll know what happened, and what I went through, and why I was so angry as to why it should never have happened, the bad thing about that night, the recovery driver had me standing in a blizzard holding his torch while he worked, and all I had was a light cotton jacket, I was so cold, your video had all the memories flooding back, and I was shivering as I watched, needless to say, when I got back to the Depot, me and the depot mechanic never spoke for some time

I would of dropped that Torch. I was taught by my father who had been a trucker for close to 50 years back when there was no such thing as a sleeper in a truck and you was lucky if it had 140hp His first truck was a Old White with a chain drive that is when he started. Anyways my truck was always packed with winter gear even if it was the summer and i kept MRE's in there enough to last a week. I had one winter i was stuck on top of a mountain pass due to them closing the roads down it was that bad was stuck there 3 days. For two nights a lady and her son stayed in my truck to stay warm and i shared my food the hotel near us was charging $300 a night and they had people sharing rooms this lady could not afford it. She was going around asking for some loose change what not for gas so they could keep the car warm . I told her her and he son was welcome to stay in the truck with me i had bunks Bottom one could sleep both of them just fine and i would take the top or if she didn't like that i sleep in my chair. Her son was happy as a camper with the Video game system and tv in the truck plus all the videos to this day i still get christmas cards from them and last year i was invited to his Graduation from high school. Moral to the story Be like a boy scout be prepared

Thanks for posting, just another fun evening living the dream playing in the snow... Y'all got'er done.
That action trying to put that trailer in the slot sure would have got my last nerve. Guess it's tough when youre used to snow and can do it and you're standing there watching somebody that apparently has problems with it.

Ron, it's a sad day that I write this. I did catch your Facebook post of the accident with the car in the lake today. I know something like that must really be hard on anyone. My condolences to the driver of that car and best wishes for you and your crew. May God bless you all in all your endeavors. And may you or your crew ever experience the likes of that accident again.
God bless you sir, and your crew.

It was a difficult situation, but one that I have learned to deal with as part of the job. I won't say that it doesn't bother me, because it does. One has to put on their professional face and get the job done with dignity and respect. Thanks and God bless.

I myself work in oil field safety. It's especially tough when you have to go out and secure a drilling rig or other locations that's had accidents or even fires. It takes a lot out of a person. I've been fortunate however that I was not the one called out for such situations. I don't think I would have the strength for it. And I applaud you for having that strength. I'm just a fire extinguisher guy but I can do safety if I need to.
      Again. God bless you sir.

@@LoneWolf1965 Did you hear about one of the "Duck" boat/trucks that went down over in Branson, MO, several months ago?? At least one of the Highway Patrol dive team members who was here today worked that incident. My hat's off to those guys. Today they were working in zero visibility, 34 degree water with strong current due to the Mississippi River being flooded right now. A LOT of people came together last night and today to handle this situation.

    • @LoneWolf1965
      @LoneWolf1965 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

No I haven't heard about that one. I only knew about this incident thru your Facebook. And I don't live in the area. I live out here in midland, Texas. Way out west. So unless I'm on the Internet I don't hear much of what goes on. But that's an incident I wouldn't care for. That's for sure. God bless our first responders and military.

Great video... a little tip for you when dealing with vehicles stuck in the ice covered snow (if anyone hasn't commented yet), keep a bag or two of speedy dry or kitty litter on board.....a few handfuls thrown behind the wheels would have helped that drive trying to back into that spot....
