This busy momma has 20 minutes to get as much paint on a dresser as possible 🏃♀️🏃♀️ The solution? A sponge! That's right...any ol' sponge will do.

Thank you so much for sharing this quick technique. It's going to make a real difference for me in my fledging furniture painting business. I use sponge brushes but just sponges would save time AND money. Awesome sauce!
Hi Susyn! You are soooo welcome! My husband sometines feels that I'm more excited about the packing materials when my Amazon shipments arrive🤣
I came to watch your video because I painted with a sponge applicator, and I kept wiping the paint off of the inside corners (seams?) of my bookshelf every time I painted. Plus, I had to apply like six coats. Then, when I went to apply Polyacrilic with a sponge, I took off the paint on the same place all over again. After watch long your video, I think I’m not applying enough paint, my sponge was dry to begin with, I don’t have my paint in a bowl so that I can get full coverage on my sponge. I must be doing that dragging that you’re talking about. Plus, you said something about going back and touching up those spots with a different tool. I can do that also.
Anyway, LOVE your busy mom, easy solution style! ❤
@rjrnshan It sounds like you are on your way to make this technique work for you. So glad you found this video helpful ❤️❤️ Another idea... dampen your sponge with water before painting your next coat to make it softer. Also. I do not recommend this trick for applying a sealant... only paint. Please check out my videos about applying Polycrylic. Good luck with your project!
This is awesome. Thank you. I have a project that needs painting and I have no brush. Thought to use a sponge and came to TH-cam. This video confirmed my thoughts and I'm so glad. Good looking out Queen!!!
You are so welcome! Good luck on your project...it'll be FABULOUS ❤
Excellent, you look so smart
Some days I amaze myself, Jan. Some days I'm looking for my glasses while already wearing them. Have a great day, Jan!
I suck at painting but I must say I love your technique. And yes, mommas are busy! Definitely doing this today. Thanks a million for your video.
Hi, Valerie 👋 Thanks so much for watching! I am really happy to hear this video helped you with your motivation. When faced with something new, or when I question my abilities, I am a master procrastinator. It's funny when, or how, we can finally break through and get started❤️
Thanks for the video! It's such a cool and quick technique, but I have one small piece of advice for anyone watching near their Echos, be prepared for Alexa to be triggered and put a timer on, I'm alone at the moment and when it did it scared me half to death 😂😂
That is an excellent point! I should have included a disclaimer on this video🤣
I had 2 bedside pine cabinets with 3 draws, which needed doing. I used a sponge but did wear a glove. So quick, it was brilliant. Don’t know how to put pics on here, you would have loved the results too. I want to try this technique on a door.
Wonderful, Kim!!! Hearing a success story like that really makes my day👍 I wish we could share photos on TH-cam, too. Please consider sharing on my Porch Nook Facebook page…. I would love to see your cabinets! xoxo
❤❤
I would totally do this knowing that I only have a few minutes cause that’s just how I roll 😂. I totally get the “I just want to get it done today!”
You get me!!! 🤜💥🤛
👌👌👌👌
I'm going to try sponge painting!
Hi PN owner. I am doing paint work on my car specially the interior sections of my doors (where you don't bother for the entire car lifetime. I had been thinking of using a foam to do it quickly and smoothly. Well aftet watching this inam gaining the courage and strength to overcome this major hurdle😂😂. Well lets hope for the best
Wonderful! When in doubt...test it before applying to the area👍
Thanks for this. I am surely considering doing this with my cabinets. Oh, and you made my Alexa set a timer…she heard your voice thru the video😂
Oh my gosh... I have set off so many Alexas over the past 3 years because of this video! Thank you so much for watching. Let me know if you decide to tackle those cabinets!
Love this idea! I'm so trying this!!! Thank you 🤗
You made this video a year or 2 ago. I loved it, ya got me out of my head.....
Yes, I Love sponge painting. I'm working on a table I created. I want to sponge painting 3 or 4 colors. All I can recall is to paint the darkest color first. My questions: am I correct darkest color first?, then what the order for the rest of colors.?
Thanks. Hope I was clear
Hi Pamela! I'm so happy that you reached out. I have to be honest, I am not truly clear on the look you are trying to achieve. You are more than welcome to send me a picture of your concept via Facebook Messenger. m.facebook.com/PorchNook15/
I hope to hear from you!🤜💥🤛
Just going to try for the first time. So this is awesome for me to see
Yeah!!!!! Welcome to the world of furniture paintinga! You are gonna LOVE IT!
Why do you not prime or sand if you don't mind me asking? Besides the point of saving time.
Great question👍 With Porch Nook Paint + a sealant, you don't need to do either of those things💪🏽
Awesome
Can I see the finished drawers please
@gaelillico5447 here you go, friend!

Sure thing! Here you go--> porchnook.com/products/3-drawer-dresser-w-metallic-copper-pulls-hand-painted-w-sea-glass-ol-faithful?_pos=6&_sid=0efcb8955&_ss=r
And it gives you a smooth finish?
can you tell me what type of sponges you are using?
Hi friend! I'm a big fan about using what you have on hand. In this video I simply use packaging I found in an amazon shipment.
👍👍
You’re so funny 😂 great video
I found this video by accident but I love your videos!!!
What paint did you use? I want to use sponge for chalk paint. Can I? Thanks
Hi! I used "Sea Glass" by Porch Nook --> porchnook.com/collections/frontpage/products/sea-glass-32-fl-oz-chalky-finish-paint-by-porch-nook
I wish I could tell you if this technique works with 'chalk paint' ... but to be honest, I have never used it. I've only painted with Porch Nook Chalky Finish Paint👍
Hi I need your input, purchased beautiful hutch 1928, its in good shape . Should I use a wood conditioner on it prior to painting. It has some accent on door and glass, I was going to stain to bring it out. Looking forward to your ideas
Hi, Katrina! I wish I could see a picture to fully understand what you're dealing with. In regards to wood conditioner... if the conditioner has dried overnight you should be able to paint it like it a conditioner was never put on it 👍 However, if the general condition of the wood is ok as is...I would just paint away after a thorough cleaning with mineral spirits & water.
Lol. I liked your video immediately. Followed
👏👏👏 Amy!! Welcome!! 👏👏👏 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video❤ ...and THANK YOU SO MUCH for subscribing and your support. See you later!
What kind of sponge did you use?
Hi Caroline! Thanks so much for watching! This sponge was packing material found in an Amazon shipment I received that day. Every day we are surrounded by useful materials that are normally just thrown away.
Where is this sponge found??
In this particular video I explain that the sponge was leftover packaging from an Amazon shipment👍
Great video! Subbed!
Louisville!!
Is this a primer or color
It is a Porch Nook furniture paint color that does not require priming👍
