You’ve Never Seen Woodworking Like This!

  • I recreated Deadpool comic book art out of natural wood. No paint. No stain. Just amazingly cool, exotic wood species hand cut to form this picture of Deadpool. Each piece of wood was cut using a scroll saw. It took approximately six months to make due to the complexity of the project and tiny details necessary to craft the image. Scroll saw woodworking doesn’t have to be stuffy or involve making something boring. You can have fun making bright, vivid images using contrasting colors, all from natural wood. One of the best parts about scroll sawing is the low barrier to entry. All you really need is a scroll saw and patience to make insanely cool woodworking projects like this.
    This artwork of Deadpool came from issue #7 drawn by Gerardo Sandoval and written by Kelly Thompson. Victor Nava & Gerardo Sandoval inked the work and Chris Sotomayor performed colors.

    This was phenomenal! From the thickness differences to the sanding technique to meld it together, he actually is about as realistic as one can get with solid wood! Good job 👏🏼

    Once again you've blown my mind, Billy. I can't even comprehend how to go about doing something like this. Every time I think you've gone way over the edge, you just go farther.

    "All I have to do is cut two parallel lines" 😂
    I find straight lines to be the absolute hardest cut to make on a scroll saw because any little wiggle is immediately noticeable as opposed to cuts that turn.
    Absolutely amazing work!

    You might also consider epoxy, colored in different tones or colors, either to fill in tight spaces or account for difficult colors to find. Also stained glass or stained glass designing practices.

    • @peakflow1169
      @peakflow1169 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think using epoxy and colored tones could definitely make it more colorful and closer to actual drawing! However, the use of natural wood colors alone takes this from a really cool piece of art to an extraordinary one.

    Dude, you could just use aluminum for the swords. If it’s thin enough, you can cut it with a scroll saw. It’s tuff, but doable. That being said, this was astonishing work!

      @@NewtonMakesArt you can use a very thin aluminum. Soda can might work well. You’d probably need to laminate it to a substrate of some kind, but it would be much easier to cut.
