  • In this video I'm showing you how I built my outdoor Sauna. It's a simple build using timber beams and steel rods. A glass door provides daylight and a Harvia M3 stove cosy heat. Overall, it took me 2 weekends to finish. Enjoy!

    This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

      @stuntcock01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@matthewkeyes4639you're right in that he didn't use the best materials for the job, but we dont know... maybe this was a cheap case study in "can I build a sauna" before he went out and spent thousands and thousands of dollars on 4x4 red cedar posts. as for the structure... this exact building method is used by Finnish sauna builders. there is no need for insulation when you are using solid walls like this, and even most cedar barrel saunas which use T&G panel don't have insulation or vapour barrier ; A sauna is only meant to be hot while you are in it. the structure itself doesnt need to retain heat, only the rocks in the stove. the only disadvantage to using knotty wood is that it heats up unevenly and its uncomfortable to touch. a knot on the wall isn't a big deal... a knot on the bench will hurt. . the wood may or may not rot. there is a Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban which he did (scorching the wood) which serves as a form of weatherproofing. only thing I would do differently is not use glue. the tension from the threaded rod is enough to compress the beams.
      I agree with you that this may not be the best LONG TERM application, but it works. as with anything, do your own research. that is common sense.

    Love this fancy picnic table construction! Sick and tired stupid plug it in the wall InfraRed, Near InfraRed or Far Infrared crap or the fine wood work, or the ultimate 20A dedicated circuit trash.. Going Hot rock w/50A 220V service.. I can make tongue and groove from Home Depot framing lumber. If I can find it I much prefer Fir.. probably do 2x6.. maybe 2x8 I'll put up 4x4 for the corners, with a lean to roof. On the other side of the wall is that Juicy big powah service for the kitchen oven. The 9KW Vevor hot rock heater is on the way.. I'm thinking a single Long bench that I can lie down on. so like footprint will be 7' x 3.5' or there abouts. When in doubt go 220V.. that means it works.

    Since I can't use the sauna at the gym due to the nonsense antisocial distancing rules, I'm considering building one in my garage. I really miss getting a good sweat going in the sauna and being able to warm up when it's cold outside. I'm thinking about using an infrared heater, though. Wish I knew someone who has one in their sauna to try it out, so I can see how it compares to a traditional electric heater. Appreciate seeing your build.
