No riving knife. No push sticks. No blade guard. Wearing gloves. Standing in front of the table saw. Reaching over the spinning blade. While the build was awesome (and well done on making whatever you have work!), please consider how dangerous a table saw is. Many poor folks have had their lives changed because they underestimated them. Imagine how hard achieving your dream house and land would be if you or your SO was missing all the digits on a hand?
I'm sorry, but cloth gloves while using power saws is a recipe for disaster. If gloves come into contact with a power saw blade it doesn't cut, it pulls....pulls your hand right into the blade. I've met more than one woodworker without fingers because of this! Cool vid though!
Get a grip we all know about health and safety and I'm Shure the whole intention of this great video wasnt about that it was how to build an authentic western style hot tub .and I'm possibly and very Shure that you have not ever violated any health and safety issues in your life . Yes I spotted a few without the circular saw guard also but .just get a grip and enjoy some ones great effort s .. and like there hard efforts they didn't have to post it but hey they did ..👏👏👏🏴🥃
This is so cool. I absolutely love the fact you sourced most of the wood from your property. I am in awe. Literally almost cried watching you create such beautiful wood from your property. This is amazing, and I will pass this on to my kids one day.
I have been following you for awhile. In fact i believe the very first video i watched was of you two in the hot tub. The house was not even started yet. Love you both. Love your videos. Merry Christmas.
A push stick is a tool that can be bought or alternatively, easily produced yourself and although very simple in design, plays an important role in the safety operating procedures of a table saw.
I’d highly recommend, my dad cut through two nerves and two tendons after the wood jumped on a table saw... nearly lost his finger. He had to have two surgeries and his finger doesn’t rlly work anymore... needless to say every cut he makes now is with a push stick and feather board
Loved watching this again. Started thinking about building a hot tub and knew just the video series to watch. Then I saw this one. I see the playlist is still here so I'll go cruise that through that again. Glad to see y'all still around. Cool to see that crazy cat too.
I enjoyed Alyssa's narration. I miss the teamwork of Jess and Alyssa on camera. The hours spent on editing this year had to be a challenge in catching up. The music background was perfect and did not take away from any of the video. I almost passed this video up but am glad i watched.
What a nice project. :) Oh man, this guy is lucky to have a wife that is a "handywoman" and enjoys participating in the big task of building a complete home from scratch.
Any moving machinery for that matter. My dad got his hand pulled into a sprocket and chain. Had to reverse machine to get hand out. He was fortunate he only lost 1 finger.
Il watched all the video. In last Season, I think we saw Jesse talk more than he perform (no offense, just what I feel 😉). I love this new video style, even if it is a summary with already seen actions. On the cabinet I love when Jesse do, I fast foward when he talk to much (because I understand technical issues ans just want to see how he solve them...). Thanks for the work and the share! See U.
Im so envious of you guys. I wish i had made similar life choices when i was younger. Now my life is fixed due to health and family obligations. Do all you can while you are young.
That's my biggest fear that i dont have time to do any of this stuff, mainly because of the money, upcoming responsebilities due to my age and strict law when comes to construction, need detail project and permit for everything. Best of luck to you, hang on!
Pushing by hand is no big deal but using gloves... That is crazy. I have come across several people who have made that mistake with various power tools
But hey, we have no idea if she's stubborn or has huge bad traits. I tell ya what, my wife is super hot and also super selfish. I love her to death; I just always come second lol
Great video! I'm assembling what I need to build a hot tub and sauna for my wife. Shhh! Don't tell her; its a surprise. I admire your teamwork and obvious love for each other. Wish there were more Americans like you!
this looks like a pretty warm house for this South Central Alaska region. The Romans actually refused to cross the Alps for a long time. They considered the northern winter season as barbarian. Only when they invented underfloor heating and Roman steam bath they moved northwards.
Got ptsd watching her with the saw. Someone get them a tracing for a push stick. I notch out the handle of my hammer so that there's aways a push stick in my belt.
An inspiration, just what I was looking for my planned build. But for heavens sake girl, USE A PUSH STICK, @ 2:20 you won't enjoy your hot tub nearly as much with seven fingers!
You don't see that very often, if at all. The hot tub is extraordinary too. Very awesome that you got out of the city and into something that makes sense.
You don’t put the pieces in beside it all the way in you have them angled out towards the last piece the slide the last stave in and then tap on the pieces next to the last one after that use the cables or metals straps that come with premanufactured hot tubs to tight them all together
Wow, so the tub sealed itself once the wood had enough water and time to swell? The simplicity is amazing. I suppose it could be bigger is someone wanted. Another TH-cam hole to fall down...love it.
My guy landed this cutie and said "I have to move her in the woods away from people before she realizes what she's done". Haha 😛 I'm joking, I'm joking. Great videos guys, I'm super jealous!
Not sure why there's so much negativity. It's about the build, making something yourself.....I've thrown away all kinds of money trying to make/build/fix or "invent" something just because.....I like it.
Very nice, well done. Suggestion from Sweden: Build a little wood fired Sauna next to your platform. Then keep cool water in the tub. Then go between the hot sauna and the cool tub. Even more refreshing. :)
For your own safty you NEED to remake your cables. Look up the term “never saddle a dead horse” it will show your tension cables are assembled in a dangerous way.
If you watch cable clamp failures its never the clamps that fail but the live end of the cable gets cut into when the clamps are on wrong, that will cause a cable rated for 2 tons rip at like 800 lbs of lifting ( or pullling ) stress
Brilliant idea thanks for posting 👍 need to build me one of these ..for the Scottish freezing cold nights to heck was those expensive plastic jacouzie hot tubs that looks great 👍👏👏👏🏴🥃
So I noticed there was no gluing on the rails -- is this essentially compression and swelling of wood to seal the leaks over time, hence more water filling?
Kistilan yes, it's like a wooden boat- the water swells the wood and makes it watertight. Let it dry out and it will leak when first refilled until the wood swells again.
Fantastic project but please please please get some training in safe use of machine tools, or if you’ve had that training, don’t ignore it. Don’t use gloves, fit the riving knife the saw would have been delivered with, and put a guard on the spindle moulder. You got away with it and for all I know you have years of experience, but people will watch this, copy you, break ribs and faces from kickback and lose fingers.
I see this was recommended for everyone today as well!
What a great snapshot of where you were and where you are Merry Christmas to the three of you “now.”
four, if you count Bugaboo !

You can almost smell that freshly cut timber as they are knocking the wood together. Looks fantastic. Well done.
GREAT WORK. GREAT WOMAN AND GREAT MAN TWO SUCCEEDED TOGETHER.
I thought it was a hot tub kit....excellent job and what a journey.
I thought so too
I'm sorry, but cloth gloves while using power saws is a recipe for disaster. If gloves come into contact with a power saw blade it doesn't cut, it pulls....pulls your hand right into the blade. I've met more than one woodworker without fingers because of this! Cool vid though!
I was cringing that they weren't using push sticks. They have enough spare wood around !!

What would you suggest using instead? Leather gloves?
@@user-pe2yx9kt4e no gloves at all
@@kaimarecek2885 thank you for answering!
*FOR SAFETY REASONS do not wear gloves* while working with rotating blades!!! Also *use pushing sticks* at the end of cut planks.
ok mommy
As a person who has picked up fingers before and still has flashbacks from time to time I agree with the original comment.
1. NEVER PUT HAND CLOSE TO SPINNING BLADE.
2. NEVER WEAR GLOVES WHILE USING A ROTATING POWER TOOL
AMAZING WORK THO GREAT VIDEO!

That looks very relaxing

Insanely dangerous. Lucky you didn’t got cut guys -1

Yep
Yepp
Nope. I've been looking at building wooden tubs lately. Not random at all for me.
Yea, randomly recommend it to me😂
Random as random can horse
And still have all your fingers. Marvelous video.

First i was sceptic how you can build a hot tub in 13 minutes but you build the hot tub AND the house in 13 minutes. I'm blown away :)
Please dont use gloves at turning mashines like a circular saw because if the blade catches the glove it pulls your hand into the sawblade
that's german work safety.
Also... those fingers within an inch of the the blades on fence-less router table and table-saw with no guard or riving knife had me worried.
du atze

TH-cam recommendations brought me here, and i dont regret :) hasnt disappointed me in quite some time now xD
She has a great voice, and great craftsmanship by both of them. Reminds me of how they make whiskey barrels
THANKS for sharing your creativity and, above all else, your manifest happiness. Sometimes it's the journey as much as the destination!
*you need a push block for that table saw before you lose a finger or two*
no gloves on the table saw!!! they will catch and pull your whole hand in.
It's nice how people have constructive ideas and criticisms ... Too bad so many don't have any manners ... Nice joinery ...
why i feel like i've seen this 3 times over the last 3 years...just keep re-uploading it!

that's funny, i thought they looked the same age.

Someone is jealous
yeaah "over weight and cute" sure...
So surprised that they still have 20 fingers, after all, that time!!!
I gave up preaching hand safety here - pointless.
I seriously cringed on the table saw parts..,..."shake hands with danger"

You need a push through tool and a guard on that table saw, Fingers are not cheap!
I was getting nervous every time they made a cut
@@TheKingKapper you were expecting them to cut a finger off in a youtube video?
For others watching this, definitely do NOT wear gloves while using a table saw.
For sure. I rather have part of a finger cutoff over my whole hand being ripped apart.
Or don't bend over the blade 😂
Like others, got to point out that your use of the saw is shocking.
Just bought a Camper!!! Currently looking for LAND!!! Your living my dream!!!
