I like how the mothman’s appearance has drastically changed from a giant roundish bird creature to an actual man with moth like features and bird wings. I still think what happened during the first witness account is that they were probably just driving fast and saw the glint in an owl’s eyes in a tall tree as they drove by, and it gave the illusion of a creature. I like to think in the middle of the night residents hear loud thuds as mothman hits against porch lights lmao
That's actually likely. I need to find it again but a hunter accidentally shot an unusually large snowy owl nearby around the same time as the last sighting there's a whole documentary about it
I can see how these types of cryptid stories can form… I was driving one day, not even in the middle of nowhere (pretty close to a busy freeway). And in my peripheral vision I saw what looked like a large rabbit with big bird wings stand up on its hind legs and fly straight up into the air. It took me a second to register what I had just seen, and I was alone in the car audibly saying “wtf was that wtf did I just see” I rationalized it by deciding I must have seen the exact moment a large bird started airlifting a rabbit it caught. And then when it started flying, it was facing me for that split second, so even though it wasn’t flying straight up, it created the illusion that it was. And maybe since it was in my peripheral, my brain filled in some blanks and made it look like one cohesive creature. But the weird thing is that when I was in high school I had a friend who said that once when he was driving he caught a glimpse of a weird small animal that couldn’t exist. It like genuinely scared him. And I think it had something to do with a rabbit too. A connection I didn’t make until way later. But if a few people had this similar experience within a shorter time frame and all within the same area. There you go. It would just snowball into Birdrabbit Man.

Something people fail to mention is that the entire "Mothman" craze in point pleasant was ended by an absolute tragedy when the silver bridge collapsed, this was even related to the mothman, people stating that he's a bad omen that appears before disasters. I believe that 46 people unfortunately died during the collapse.
Mothman is the only cryptid that I don't disbelieve completely. I was packing in groceries one night in southern West Virginia with my cousin and my sister. We were all young, maybe 11-12 yo and had never heard of mothman before. As we got to the door, we all looked across the creek and saw the huge creature with glowing red eyes, wings and all, and freaked out and ran inside. In hysterics, we describe to my dad what we had seen and he just waved us off and told us we had seen a big owl. In all fairness, we do see a lot of great horned owls and they do have massive orange eyes that glow red if you shine a light at them, but these eyes were several inches apart and the body was much bigger than a person, so we all knew that wasn't right. It wasn't until about a year later that I walked through the living room as my dad was watching a mothman documentary, and happened to see a drawing of him. I immediately recognized the creature as the one we saw, and even confirmed with my sister and cousin. It was a wild moment, and my bedroom window faced the area we had seen it at, so it was great nightmare fuel for me. I'm a very skeptical person, but the fact that 3 of us clearly saw it, all with the same details, and we'd never heard of Mothman before, I just don't know.
This is actually a popular thing here in WV, at least where i live, cause there have been a few cases where mothman will be spotted near a bridge and then a week later that bridge will collapse
As a life long West Virginia resident my favorite part of the Mothman lore is when he says "it's mothin time" and completely moths on everyone. Really inspiring shit right there.
West Virginia is filled to the brim with Cryptids and folklore. Mothman, Snallygaster, Grafton Monster, the flatwood monster. There’s so much interesting stuff there.
People aren't ready for the really strange stuff in the world/dimensions. It's entirely possible that this mf wasn't even from this world/dimension. It was strange AF, I've heard of the black budget military investigating interdimensional technology and trying to bring stuff through. The disclosure team and Dr. Steven M Greer talk about this with plenty of eye witness testimonials on his TH-cam page.
The mothman is actually the result of a scientist who was developing a teleportation device when a moth flew into the transporter without him knowing and fused their DNA together which resulted in his slow transformation into a moth like humanoid creature

I can 100% confirm that Moth Man is in fact real. I saw him last night drinking and playing poker at the nearest casino. He won every round. He's chill, and a badass.
There's something kind of funny that there's like 3 local monsters within like driving distance of each other, they're all in the state of West Virginia, and none of them are even remotely alike in terms of description. The Mothman of Point Pleasant, the Flatwoods Monster of Flatwoods, and the lesser-known Grafton Monster (a kind of Bigfoot-like creature, two notable differences, it's described as being hairless with skin like an elephant and also having no head).

In all seriousness, he's a really odd yet interesting urban legend that seems to more recently be something like a Harbinger. Preceding disaster in some way. Idk, I'm always fascinated in a childish way.
@@Raptorworld22 Doesn't make it any less fun though. It's like the Loch Ness Monster, Sasquatch, or Selkies. Sure, there's a 99.9% chance they never existed, some Urban Legends there's a 100% chance they never existed. But it's still fun to have them.

@@6DarthSion9 As always. Come on it's not funny anymore. I can forgive people who are believing in imaginary man on clouds, let it be. But giant insect without any reliable photo... Nope. I stopped believing in such nonsense when I was about 10.
I love cryptid stories especially the more obscure ones. When I was a kid people always told of a creature/man, similar to Tahm Kench, a catfish man who would appear as an unrecognizable old man and offer you some sort of assistance but after helping you, something unfortunate would happen after. I guess to celerity, this isn’t a cryptid because it’s not an animal, just pointing out most places have some kind of urban legend. In most cases those stories are being lost.
I’m a native West Virginian; been to Point Pleasant multiple times. It is kind of a time capsule but we have some other towns that are very similar in being frozen in the era that they thrived. If you enjoy cryptids you should look up one of our other cryptids who is one of my favorites which is the Flatwoods Monster. Also there’s a moth man festival sure the town would explode if you came up as a guest for the festival lol.
I visited Wheeling recently, and I can concur that West Virginia has multiple towns that look like they're from a different time. It's really pretty and nice.

My take on Moth Man is more that he's a warning. He would be seen under bridges a few days before it collapsed, sweeping down on people driving in cars. What if he is just trying to scare people away from the place so they didn't get hurt rather than him being the cause?
Mothman wasn't described by the original eyewitness reports as looking like a man. They stated he had no head, but 2 large, red eyes on his chest, gray feathers, wings, 2 legs, and stood just under the height of a man... thus, a sandhill crane with its head pointed forward.

Theirs also one on the island of Corfu, Greece. I had two encounters with it whilst I lived there during my childhood. The first time was around dusk,it was running along side me, hunched over with glowing eyes and frayed wings in an Olive Garden whilst I was on my bike on the road next to it. luckily a fence separated us and it stopped dead when it came to the end of the garden as I carried on pedalling my fastest up the road. The second time was a few years later. My dad had finished a gig in a local bar so we were driving back pretty late through the back roads on dirt paths near the original siting, then all of a sudden it ran out in front of us. My dad slammed on but the headlights revealed the same thing I had seen years prior, hunched over with glowing eyes and damaged tatted wings. My dad never believed me when I first saw it, but he did after that night. Spooky stuff.

He's just trying to warn you of the bridge...

I will not stand for this slander! Mothman was just trying to warn us, he's innocent!
I'm a very skeptical person, but the fact that 3 of us clearly saw it, all with the same details, and we'd never heard of Mothman before, I just don't know.
it was xqc
Shit man.

That's because there's not much else. They barely have internet there.

My take on Moth Man is more that he's a warning. He would be seen under bridges a few days before it collapsed, sweeping down on people driving in cars. What if he is just trying to scare people away from the place so they didn't get hurt rather than him being the cause?
True
Mothman wasn't described by the original eyewitness reports as looking like a man. They stated he had no head, but 2 large, red eyes on his chest, gray feathers, wings, 2 legs, and stood just under the height of a man... thus, a sandhill crane with its head pointed forward.

The moth man statue is more accurately sculpted than the dwyane wade statue
"He sounds like a villain Batman would go up against"
This is why I forgot about Killer Moth.

We had the "Bunnyman" here in my neighborhood. Lived in the nearby woods. In reality he was just a man in a white t-shirt and no pants. So just a pervert.
How did they come to the conclusion that a half naked man was "Bunnyman"? Did he hop? Have big ears?
Any anomalous encounter in the woods is definitely the "Bunnyman." That's just how the legend works and when you encounter that anomaly then you become a true believer. The pervert's just the version I saw and reported lol, but others have a different description. ALL TRUE! lol
that's actually genuinely scary. perverts are a very real threat, and the vibe the name "Bunnyman" gives off is just kinda sinister for an actual human being
Did you have Echo too?
The fact that i live in west virginia, and am for some reason greatly intrigued by shit like mothman and the braxton county monster and what not, i just wanna say that if i ever see mothman we gonna be chill. No pictures or anything, just a drink and a convo, he seems like a great guy.
I liked the part where Moth Man said "It is Mothin' time"

As a West Virginian I hate how half of everything that Charlie said in the beginning was wrong and the presentation didn’t even talk about the silver bridge or what ever it was called cause it collapsed a week or so after moth man sightings of it on top of the bridge

Mothman is real he needs to pay his child support for our kid
From Sandyville, WV. Let me tell you this the least expected topic I've seen Chalie cover, but love seeing my favorite cryptid covered by him

@@ItzMalick dude, imma be real with ya. Advertising your channel thru comments on random people's comments is not gonna make people wanna see your content, actually the opposite
Mothman is real, he is my uncle. Sometimes I catch him chilling on his lazy-boy next to a giant lamp drinking a cold one. He really let himself go since people stopped believing. He doesn’t even molt anymore, it’s tragic. I just want you guys to know that accusations about the lack of his existence really makes him spiral into a deep depression. And that’s when the drinking gets worse… think before you post guys…
I feel sorry for Mothman now
Finally someone puts some light on this legendary creature
Finally!?!??!!?!?!??!?!?!??

I remember in my creative writing class the teacher played the music from a mothman musical. I don’t really remember what happened in it, but I remember that some people walked past our classroom and just stared for a bit.
