Honestly the calmest crowd reaction to 2nd place in recent memory. Everyone knew it was SCV’s title after their final run. Nice of the fan base not to get overly excited for the devils getting silver like they have in the recent past. And I say this as a Bloo alum
Well in the past when they got 2nd people wasn't sure if they would get 2nd or 1st so in the past people would cheer cause it would mean someone beat the Blue Devils.
Which is not the kindest of things to do at times so I am glad they were respectful

i’m so happy the mandarins made it to the finals, i have a few friends in that corps and i’m just really happy they made it so far.
Yep they’ve been rapidly improving over the years, I loved their past few shows and I’m eager to see what they’ll have in store for the future

This was my first dci finals i attended as a freshman in high school. This season is what got me auditioning for blue stars for the 2021 season.

Cavaliers scored 99.15 in 2002 and the Cadets scored the same as Cavies in 2005.
Also Cavies beat them with 2004 and they beat themselves with their 1989 show.
In fact, their 1989 show was the highest scoring show ever from 1989 up until 2002 when the Cavaliers beat them for a total of 13 years.
We really liked Carolina Crown's show this year. No overdone visuals.

I'm sorry, but people who know me know I don't put down ANY drum corps or the activity, but honestly...when everyone jumps all over Blue Devils and say it was their best show ever and they were robbed of 1st place...Uhm...I disagree. They were robbed of 4th place. SVC truly deserved the 1st place honor, although, I felt Bluecoats performance should have been 1st place too. Crown's show was very good musically over Blue Devils, but not visually and should have been 3rd. Blue Devils Show was simply of BOA Performance Quality if Best. Boston Crusaders I believe could and deserved 4th place with Blue Devils. It was entertaining just as much as SCV and Bluecoats. Just my opinion. I am very fair with my opinions. So take it as it's worth.
1st place: SCV or Bluecoats
3rd place: Crown
4th place: Boston Crusaders or Blue Devils
dazybug someone finally said it. The show felt like a copy paste of elements that worked from metamorph. Sitting between Babylon and session 44 the show had zero soul and you could see it in their GE score. Their performance was the most emotionless thing of the night next to watching the cadets march onto the field
I'm much more on board with this, than what happened at finals. As a brass player though, I think they are screwing Crown on the music score. The "music" score must take into account more than just the quality of the brass line. Is that true?
I’m a die hard bluecoats fan but I know that scv deserved it beyond all other corps. when I saw them it was literally the most amazing thing I’ve ever witnessed

As a jazz musician and a huge dci fan I literally hate it when a Corp brings jazz or blues or anything along those lines into a show. With how a Corp is lined up it doesn’t and is not supposed to work. They don’t have the instruments to do the job, but they do it anyway. Frankly, I don’t get it and I’m not trying to ridicule dci or any Corp, I just want somebody to explain. Please.

Honestly the only way jazz should be played is with a trombone soloist and a backing track if dci wants to do jazz lmao cause I get they want to jazz it up but you gotta respect that it’s jazz which came from the roots of New Orleans and not from a white guy marching dci lmao but I dci wants to jazz it up just let them do their thing n realize it truly isn’t jazz until they bring in like Bill watrus lol
@@chargedbandit1452 Is the whole point of music not to bring people together, and is the whole point of jazz specifically not to be open to creativity and expression? Plus, it's in these shows because the arrangers like it and want to honor it. Restricting it to a certain instrument, location, etc. is ridiculous.

While I do appreciate the creativty and originality in this era's DBCs, I sort of think it is getting a bit out of countrol. THose Carolina Crown uniforms were just like RIDICULOUS. That's a drum and bugle corps? Looks more like a circus!
Alright, I’m in blue devils b corps and even tho I may be biased...blue devils are an amazing corps and don’t deserve all the hatred they got for this show! They know, and we all know this definitely wasn’t their best show. Just becuase they have won so many times doesn’t mean they are undeserving of winning again, first place rightfully went to vanguard even tho I didn’t personally like their show. But every corps is exceptionally talented and just cause bd wins a lot (they win because every single section is incredibly good) doesn’t mean they deserve frack for it.

I truly wish Drum Corps would stop using recordings in their shows and make a rule for everything to be STRICTLY ACOUSTIC. It loses me every time I hear some speech TALKING on top of an ensemble. I can’t tell you how much I truly dislike it. I also hear CHEATING. Like synthesizers enhancing LOWS & inner-voices in the walls of a brass chord’s sound. I just can’t tell what’s real brass in balance & blend anymore. Ugh... don’t like it.
Hate to break it to you, but designers don't care what you think. It is highly unlikely they'll change back to how it was.
This new technology allows for more innovation and creativity. Any corp can choose to not use said electronics if they want to. Plus, if it was really cheating, it wouldn't be allowed. If you don't like it, you can go somewhere else. I'm sure there are more than enough ensembles in the world that don't use electronics to satisfy you, and there's also the decades of pre-electronics DCI to relive. Don't ruin this for the rest of us.
