Christine, I absolutely loved this episode. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. You have such a calming way about you. The spinning was so wonderful. Thank you so much.
Hi Christine, could you possibly make a fireplace screen with the needlepoint? You are so creative, Im sure you will come up with something wonderful. Your bag with the Blackbird stitched piece is going to be so so pretty. Very much enjoyed the spinning and find it so interesting, would love to learn more. You break things down in such a way that makes sense and understandable, thanks for sharing.
Oh, I like the fireplace screen idea!!! Hmm… I think you would enjoy spinning. I’ll shoot more video as I go. I think it would be interesting just to show how the floss and wool thread is made that we use in our embroidery.
I think the screen idea is brillant. I can even see attaching it with magnets so you could interchange it with different pieces like the sheep rug. Now Christine has another excuse to go antique shopping.
Thank you for a lovely video enjoyed seeing all your beautiful stitching and quilt’s. Love your spinning wheel looks so relaxing 😌 have a wonderful weekend 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
It is definitely not as relaxing when you are first learning, but you quickly get in the groove. I was plying the two strands together today and nearly fell asleep. LOL
Christine, spectacular video 🤩 stitching is fabulous loved your sharing of your sheep so adorable!! Spinning has always fascinated & inspired me, I have memories of a friend who had angora rabbits she used their hair that was my first exposure. Quilting project is beautiful and such a treasure…🤗♥️🪡🧵
I’ve seen people spin directly from their rabbits! That’s much more difficult than spinning wool. Wool likes to cling to itself. Rabbit and alpaca hair doesn’t.
I really enjoyed your video, and especially the spinning. It made me nostalgic. I had started spinning classes at a local 19th century historic museum years ago, and was able to buy a beautiful antique spinning wheel that was pure joy to spin on. Unfortunately, my husband passed away during that time, and I never went back to it. Thank you for reminding me of the joy of spinning! 💕
That was so much fun to watch the spinning and listen to you explain it. I have not done any spinning so that was a great educational experience. Thank you for sharing that!
This was such a fun one to watch. Thanks for sharing your haul and the wonderful other crafts that you do. the spinning wheel is so interesting. I think I would have loved it back in the day, So calming and relaxing of a hobby for sure.
This was so lovely and informative on quilting and spinning. I can see that the spinning is very relaxing. I have not been here in a while, but I could see your Harmony Box in the background! What an accomplishment. See you next time.
I loved seeing the footage of you spinning. I have never tried it but there are many hand spinners and dyers in our country. I am currently working on a cardigan with Erica Knight's Yorkshire wool and I love it! It smells heavenly because it reminds me of our lambs we bottle raised at our farmhouse. It always makes me happy to smell sheep. And yes, they are the best animals. 🐑 Happy stitching and spinning 🧵🧶
I absolutely love the smell of sheep! For me it is almost as calming as the fancy aromatherapy stuff. LOL Most people think I’m crazy when I say that. Nice to know I’m not the only one. Bottle lambs are the best. I had one that used to want to sit in my lap all the time. Even when she was fully grown!
You always have something in your videos that is new for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your love of crafting. Agnes and the other furry members of your family are also very heartwarming.
My late mother used to spin. I still and will always have her spinning wheel! Maybe one day I will learn how to spin myself! I admire what you do! It takes time and practice, not to mention dedication to learn how to spin and get beautiful results!!! I LOVE all of your cross stitch patterns/projects you are stitching!!! You 'made me' ADD them to my Wish List!!! Only certain works get that privilege!!! Yes!!!! And they ALL made my list! I LOVE your style!!!! Very enjoyable video!! I am NEW, this is maybe my 2nd video, and I loved it!!!! I LOVE your workshop you're in also! Wow!!! Impressive!!!!! Thank you, dearly, for such enjoyment!!!
Loved this so much. The cross stitch, retreat recap, the quilting and then to top it all off showing us the spinning and giving us information about it. Even the very sound of you working the wheel is relaxing. Thank you.
I enjoyed your video! I did Lulus Flock a few years back and dedicated it to my Great-great grandma who had a small flock of sheep and washed them in a creek every Spring.
Thank you for such a great video! You are such a wealth of knowledge and I learn so much from you. When I was in 4-H I raised market lambs, and the idea of spinning is so appealing. Maybe someday lol.
What a wonderful video! It sounds like your experience at Stitch Con was wonderful, and all the shopping just made it better. The last retreat I attended was a fiber (knitting and spinning) retreat and the spinning class I had with Maggie Casey was something I'll never forget. I, too, learned on a drop spindle and as you know, when learning, you find out why they call it a DROP spindle! I use one now to make twisted cording!
You make that spinning look so easy. I really enjoy my spinning wheel also. Maybe I will see you at always in stitches on the 15th of this month. Sounds like you are having a wonderful summer.
Great video! You are incredibly resourceful and productive. I watch your videos with my jaw dropped in amazement of all you do. And you do it well! I think you could probably make water if you needed to! 😄
Oh man, if I could I would have made a lot of it this spring. We were trying to grow grass in a drought. LOL I don’t crochet particularly well. I can make a granny square but that’s it. :)
Lovely video visit. Thank you! enjoyed hearing about your travels and haul, especially the treasures from the Antiques Mall. Spinning looks even more soothing than cross stitching!
That spinning wheel is gorgeous. It’s just mesmerizing watching the process. All of your projects are so beautiful. The retreat sounded like a lot of fun. You brought back some wonderful items. Love the sheep rug. So sweet. Enjoy your creative time this summer!! It’s going fast!
The needlepoint looked so beautiful on my tv. I don’t even mind the orange fringe. It made me tear up when you showed it. It was meant to be yours. That spinning wheel is beautiful. Are you going to show us your weaving with the same yarn? 😉 I’ve suspended my stitch a day. I got covid in Feb which took a month to get over and then I stepped in a hole in our field and sprained BOTH ankles. Somehow I didn’t feel like learning a new stitch everyday. I agree that some stitches are more time consuming. My plan is to chart off an area for a project folder front and fill it which will only be a third of the total 365. Meanwhile I still have the pattern.
Oh my word, two sprained ankles at the same time would be awful. I sprained one walking to the mailbox last year. I’d like to say there was a hole. But, I just turned my foot the wrong way and splat!
Thank you so much for posting fiber arts. In particular rug hooking and spinning, one day I’ll be weaving. I’m also into dyeing, quilting, and cross stitch. So glad I found you with the hashtag #rughooking. Schacht Matchless Spinning Wheel is gorgeous, is it the anniversary edition? We need more rug hooking TH-cams! Thank you again.
The black cat at Keepsakes is named "310" ! Thanks for the great video! I like seeing your treasures! I do believe I'd enjoy an hour or more of just the audio and video of the spinning...it was meditative just watching you spin and hearing the slight sounds of the wheel. That was amazing.
Oh yes!! I forgot about 310! When I demonstrated on an antique wheel at the history museum people would want to stay and watch for really long time. We ended up putting chairs around for them to sit on. It is mesmerizing.
Am a new subscriber & thoroughly enjoyed your flosstube. You mentioned working w/the Tippecanoe Historic Society so am assuming you live in Tippecanoe. My hubby went to Purdue 1972-76 & we both just loved living there. That's where I got my appreciation of samplers, quilts & all things primitive. Will be going back & watching your previous flosstubes.
Wow! Just found your site. I can't wait to go back and watch your other 18 posts. You have so many crafty talents. Love all the background sights. Again Wow! I live in Ohio near Keepsakes and would love to explore the antique mall you visited..are you able to share the name? Maybe I have been there, maybe not. Looking forward to more on your Flosstube channel.
Lovely video, Christine! Glad you had a great time at Stitch Con. So glad to see you starting the Harriet C(?) sampler. I also have that pattern in my stash. What are you using for fabric? I’m just finishing Sarah Fletcher. Perhaps I should start Harriet next!
Love the umbrella swift it is beautiful leaves my new one for dead. Your sheep rug is lovely my spinning is normally about the process as well.and like you one wheel became many, never been able to get a great wheel here in Australia they are very rare . Like you said one drop spindle is also never enough.I am hoping to go to the big fibre festival next weekend and it will be hard not to shop.I really have enough fleece, wool top roving spindles to last till I die. But as you said everyone says they are not going to shop and what do they do.?
Isn’t that swift beautiful? They sure don’t make them like that anymore. My new one seem so bland and clunky compared to it. Sorry you can’t find a great wheel. I have two. It took awhile to find one that had all its parts, but they usually don’t cost much because most people don’t have any idea what to do with them.
You loved my tone down circle sampler by Sue Spargo, somehow I did not realize you also were at stitchcon, it was easy to miss people there. Would have love to say hi
That was my favorite!!!! It is absolutely gorgeous. Your colors were so pretty. I’ve always wanted to do some of her designs. They would be so fun. There were so many people at Stitch-Con it was a little overwhelming.
That was my favorite she showed too. I have that pattern. I was an embroiderer before I took up cross stitch in 2020. Did you follow the pattern colors or choose your own?
Thank you for sharing. I too love sheep and had one as a pet as a child.😊 I noticed the piece you have hanging above your thread rack and was wondering what chart it was made from.

Hi Christine, Loved watching you spin. It was sooo relaxing…probably way more relaxing to watch you than to spin myself. You make it look so flawless.
It is definitely not as relaxing when you are first learning, but you quickly get in the groove. I was plying the two strands together today and nearly fell asleep. LOL

Sounds like Stitch Von was fun.
Great goodies you brought home.
Loved the spinning section of your video.

Glad you enjoyed it
I love spinning, I always seem to go back to my 1970 Ashford Tradional Wheel, irs my work horse wheel. 😊
That’s was my runner up in making my wheel decision. I ended up with the Schacht because I liked the cherry.
I enjoyed your video! I did Lulus Flock a few years back and dedicated it to my Great-great grandma who had a small flock of sheep and washed them in a creek every Spring.

Lovely video visit. Thank you! enjoyed hearing about your travels and haul, especially the treasures from the Antiques Mall. Spinning looks even more soothing than cross stitching!
It has that same rhythmic motion. It lulls you into a trance-like state. Takes a couple days to get it right at first, but worth the struggle.

Amazing work!
Thanks.
Wonderful Wonderful so interesting. Have you knitted yourself a sweater? Tks for all the time it took you to do this video.
Yes, I made a cardigan. And I have enough spin and ready for two more someday.
