That is why naxal and communist movements grew in Bengal gradually. Wont deny Casteism has completely been abolished in Bengal, but it is not as extensive as it used to be or adjacent states. Most Bengalies nowadays dont care about Caste much anymore...Not even religion. Some are agnostic, some are atheists and some follow all religions. Caste is irrelevant. That is why you would hardly see caste politics in Bengal nowadays.

Caste system in Bengal is very much alive in rural parts of Bengal indeed. Discrimination occurs in major cities also in the name of caste e.g. inter-caste marriage. Families in same caste do not give marriage in other subcaste. From this caste system, an entire religious idea called "Matua" has emerged. Please study properly first.
