Its kinda interesting, because Karl has an attitude of everything is fine and he's trying to go through his experiences with a light heart even though some are really bad, which reflects I think in the tone of the song. Wilbur on the other hand is always speaking to the people, always has someone looking to him. The orchestra I feel like almost represents the people behind him, with wilbur leading them.

I don't think the Universe could withstand it if Derivakat and SAD-ist did that. I mean this feelt like the Universe was on the verge of breaking and i don't think it could survive another go.
Theory: Wilbur has a shattered soul. Split directly down the middle. Ghostbur, and new alivebur, are the two halves. The soul was shattered the moment Wilbur died, but it was shattered because L'manburg was gone when he did. Ghostbur is what's left of President Wilbur. This is why Slimecicle referred to ghostbur as "Ashy." Anyone notice how there are times between when Wilbur "snapped" and when Wilbur Died, that he walked around giving people blue. Nobody noticed this, and I don't know why y'all just forgot about it. It happened at least once. I dont remember when. But I just KNOW it happened. Aswell as how conflicted he was when the button was in front of him. Almost as if there were already cracks in the soul, and the halves were fighting. ASWELL as how when he was talking about the festival to Tommy after it was announced, he LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE GHOSTBUR. "How would the souls already be cracked?" In my personal opinion I think there are 3 places the souls could crack at, and honestly all three of them coulda done something. 1. When Wilbur was exiled. More specifically when he saw that everyone in L'manburg was yelling at him to get out. He felt betrayed by his own country. His whole point on the server. The extremely conflicted thoughts of being rejected by his own point of existence caused the first crack. 2. The moment Wilbur said "let's be the bad guys." Aka when he became the enemy of L'manburg. Becoming the enemy of his own point of existence causes the second crack. 3. When Wilbur agreed to be L'manburgs "traitor" with Dream, aka when he knew he was gonna do it. Agreeing to end his own point of existence creates an apposing point of existence. An enemy of himself. Thus, there is officially two souls. But they aren't completely separated. Not yet. They still have a battle to fight. A 1v1 against himself until the day he dies. Also notice how Alivebur is well aware of Ghostbur, but ignores him. He rejects the blue, "don't give me that shit." And when he rejects Friend, he doesnt reject it, he doesnt know who Friend is at all. This is definitly because alivebur was.. well.. in hell when Ghostbur met Friend. Alivebur doesn't know who Friend is, but rejects blue because Ghostbur was giving out blue far before the two halves split. So alivebur is well aware that the blue is Ghostburs thing, And is angry with him. Almost the same way Ghostbur doesnt like Alivebur, and wants to stay away from the things that Alivebur did. Also not to mention that Alivebur LITERALLY SAID that he never gave a single shit about L'manberg, but Ghostbur SCREAMED AT PHILZA for blowing it up! Speaking of, anyone else think that the extreme emotions in the moment where he yelled at phil is Ghostbur unleashing his anger on Alivebur aswell? Letting out his anger on Philza. Realizing Phil became the exact same thing Alivebur is. Oh, and heres where the "soul being split" bit comes in. As in, the halves the two souls are. The memories are built apon the halves that were split, and the whole reason the halves were split in the first place. Ghostbur has the memories of L'manberg, and working to fight to keep Freedom, friends, and positivity. Alivebur remembers the exact opposite. Alivebur remembers blowing up L'manberg and rebelling AGAINST L'manberg and being selfish, careless, and manipulative. The emotions are built apon who lost and who won in the fight against eachother. Alivebur won in the fight because he managed to blow up L'Manberg eternally, so his emotions are either happy or focused. Ghostbur lost in the fight because L'Manberg was blown up, so he's much more sad, and angry. Ghostbur became a "ghost" because he lost in the fight. Causing him to live the rest of his existence as a weak, disabled, and frankly depressing individual. Forced to stay on earth and stare at his failures. He creates his own ways to help ease this depression, but it never works, because he's not capable of feeling anything else. He can fake it all he wants, but it will never work. He is, quite literally, the definition of depression and trauma. Wilbur Soot. Eternally Broken. Officially A *_Shattered Soot._*

The lyrics of the song actually further highlight this, Ghostbur talks about Phil as if Phil was the one who started things, as if Phil helped in the destruction of New L'manburg without reason. The lyrics also talked about how New L'manburg was a "masterpiece" when it was anything but, which further references Ghostbur being unable to remember the bad stuff.

Not nearly to the extent Phil did though. Phil aided in a war against all of the SMP essentially. He spawned countless withers that took many lives. Few to none died in Wilbur’s explosion, which was purely a thing because he had gone clinically insane and wanted to send a message about l’Manberg.
"A promise you made, cut down by your blade" I know is directly referring to phil's sword which he used during doomsday, also the same sword he used to kill wil. But I couldn't help but think of techno "the blade" who is arguably the strongest "weapon" on the server

I've been thinking of it as towards anyone. Ghostbur's just upset in general about all the events, so while yeah a lot of it is directed at Philza, it's also directed at anyone involved. Dream, Tommy, Techno, etc. (Just my opinion) /lh
tragic? his life isn't a tragedy. maybe to a lesser man, but he keeps going. past the tragedy, past the drama. into the comedy. he keeps his chin up, and makes the world a better place bit by bit. think of all the tragedies he's averted: Tubbo was being forced to choose between his country and his best friend, cracking under the strain. Technoblade solved that by destroying the country, destroying what kept the two apart, and dividing the whole server. which of course led to them almost immediately wrapping up the longest story arc of the whole server, and rallying most of the server to deal Dream his first ever serious defeat. he takes the blossoms of tragedy, and he rips them out by the roots. destroying them utterly, and tearing up the foundation in the process, so that it might be repaired into something better. like a physician breaking bones that have healed wrong, ripping open these old wounds. painful, and damaging, but ultimately for the better.

I feel like this is Tommy's song as much as it is Ghostbur's song. I mean, think about it, almost every person he looked up too betrayed him in some way, I can imagine him monologuing something similar to this to Wilbur, or even Sam.
@Quinn Gemstone Wilbur and Eret absolutely betrayed him. Sam is a bit more of an edge case but a very convincing argument can be made. Tubbo however gave him a easy opportunity to not get exiled and Tommy failed him. Tubbo shouldn't have agreed to dreams demands in the first place but Tommy is the main one to blame there. Tommy has been betrayed a lot but it's not as much as some people make it out to be.

Theory:
Wilbur has a shattered soul. Split directly down the middle. Ghostbur, and new alivebur, are the two halves.
The soul was shattered the moment Wilbur died, but it was shattered because L'manburg was gone when he did. Ghostbur is what's left of President Wilbur. This is why Slimecicle referred to ghostbur as "Ashy."
Anyone notice how there are times between when Wilbur "snapped" and when Wilbur Died, that he walked around giving people blue. Nobody noticed this, and I don't know why y'all just forgot about it. It happened at least once. I dont remember when. But I just KNOW it happened.
Aswell as how conflicted he was when the button was in front of him. Almost as if there were already cracks in the soul, and the halves were fighting.
ASWELL as how when he was talking about the festival to Tommy after it was announced, he LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE GHOSTBUR.

In my personal opinion I think there are 3 places the souls could crack at, and honestly all three of them coulda done something.
1. When Wilbur was exiled. More specifically when he saw that everyone in L'manburg was yelling at him to get out. He felt betrayed by his own country. His whole point on the server. The extremely conflicted thoughts of being rejected by his own point of existence caused the first crack.
2. The moment Wilbur said "let's be the bad guys." Aka when he became the enemy of L'manburg. Becoming the enemy of his own point of existence causes the second crack.
3. When Wilbur agreed to be L'manburgs "traitor" with Dream, aka when he knew he was gonna do it. Agreeing to end his own point of existence creates an apposing point of existence. An enemy of himself. Thus, there is officially two souls. But they aren't completely separated. Not yet. They still have a battle to fight. A 1v1 against himself until the day he dies.
Also notice how Alivebur is well aware of Ghostbur, but ignores him. He rejects the blue, "don't give me that shit." And when he rejects Friend, he doesnt reject it, he doesnt know who Friend is at all. This is definitly because alivebur was.. well.. in hell when Ghostbur met Friend. Alivebur doesn't know who Friend is, but rejects blue because Ghostbur was giving out blue far before the two halves split. So alivebur is well aware that the blue is Ghostburs thing, And is angry with him. Almost the same way Ghostbur doesnt like Alivebur, and wants to stay away from the things that Alivebur did.
Also not to mention that Alivebur LITERALLY SAID that he never gave a single shit about L'manberg, but Ghostbur SCREAMED AT PHILZA for blowing it up!
Speaking of, anyone else think that the extreme emotions in the moment where he yelled at phil is Ghostbur unleashing his anger on Alivebur aswell? Letting out his anger on Philza. Realizing Phil became the exact same thing Alivebur is.
Oh, and heres where the "soul being split" bit comes in. As in, the halves the two souls are.
The memories are built apon the halves that were split, and the whole reason the halves were split in the first place.
Ghostbur has the memories of L'manberg, and working to fight to keep Freedom, friends, and positivity.
Alivebur remembers the exact opposite. Alivebur remembers blowing up L'manberg and rebelling AGAINST L'manberg and being selfish, careless, and manipulative.
The emotions are built apon who lost and who won in the fight against eachother.
Alivebur won in the fight because he managed to blow up L'Manberg eternally, so his emotions are either happy or focused.
Ghostbur lost in the fight because L'Manberg was blown up, so he's much more sad, and angry.
Ghostbur became a "ghost" because he lost in the fight. Causing him to live the rest of his existence as a weak, disabled, and frankly depressing individual. Forced to stay on earth and stare at his failures.
He creates his own ways to help ease this depression, but it never works, because he's not capable of feeling anything else. He can fake it all he wants, but it will never work. He is, quite literally, the definition of depression and trauma.

The lyrics also talked about how New L'manburg was a "masterpiece" when it was anything but, which further references Ghostbur being unable to remember the bad stuff.

I love the irony that ghostbur asks Phil why he blew up l’manberg, be a part of the unfinished symphony and starting the war when Wilbur did everything he’s blaming Phil for but he just can’t remember
Not nearly to the extent Phil did though. Phil aided in a war against all of the SMP essentially. He spawned countless withers that took many lives. Few to none died in Wilbur’s explosion, which was purely a thing because he had gone clinically insane and wanted to send a message about l’Manberg.

I've been thinking of it as towards anyone. Ghostbur's just upset in general about all the events, so while yeah a lot of it is directed at Philza, it's also directed at anyone involved. Dream, Tommy, Techno, etc. (Just my opinion) /lh

tragic? his life isn't a tragedy. maybe to a lesser man, but he keeps going. past the tragedy, past the drama. into the comedy. he keeps his chin up, and makes the world a better place bit by bit.
think of all the tragedies he's averted: Tubbo was being forced to choose between his country and his best friend, cracking under the strain. Technoblade solved that by destroying the country, destroying what kept the two apart, and dividing the whole server. which of course led to them almost immediately wrapping up the longest story arc of the whole server, and rallying most of the server to deal Dream his first ever serious defeat.
he takes the blossoms of tragedy, and he rips them out by the roots. destroying them utterly, and tearing up the foundation in the process, so that it might be repaired into something better. like a physician breaking bones that have healed wrong, ripping open these old wounds. painful, and damaging, but ultimately for the better.

When you think about it, it could be Ghostbur talking about Tommy:
“Why? Why did you lie? Why did you words amount to nothing?”, a reference to the broken promise that Tommy made to Ghostbur saying that everything would be ok when he took him to the prison.
“Cut down by your blade”, because he revealed his axe and wanted to kill dream so bad and “couldn’t leave it be”.
“Can’t stand the pain” Tommy has such an intense fear of death that he will do anything to be safe.
“Look at what you’ve done, is this what you call glory. for example: "cut down by your blade" could be said to tommy for your reason, phil as a flashback to phil killing wilbur, even techno as he helped blow up l'manburg the final time

I feel like this is Tommy's song as much as it is Ghostbur's song. I mean, think about it, almost every person he looked up too betrayed him in some way, I can imagine him monologuing something similar to this to Wilbur, or even Sam.
Not that many people actually betrayed Tommy though.

@Quinn Gemstone Wilbur and Eret absolutely betrayed him. Sam is a bit more of an edge case but a very convincing argument can be made. Tubbo however gave him a easy opportunity to not get exiled and Tommy failed him. Tubbo shouldn't have agreed to dreams demands in the first place but Tommy is the main one to blame there.
Tommy has been betrayed a lot but it's not as much as some people make it out to be.
@@aeonblade64 Agree to Disagree, I do admit that Tubbo was a bit of a stretch, the point I was really making with that was a betrayal of trust (which Tommy also betrayed Tubbos trust I do not deny that fact.) I never said he was betrayed a ton but he has had a good amount of people betray his trust and break promises they made to him.
