My sister has had Parkinsons for approx 8 years. I discovered a book on using B1 as a therapy on Amazon and she agreed to take it. It has helped a lot with falling asleep, dyskenesia and apathy. She is has tried once to increase but found no difference (50mg increase on 200 dose) so is reluctant to increase, but has only been taking it since Christmas.

Too little thiamine gives muscle cramps in the leg but too much thiamine also gives muscle cramps in the leg! It's just easier to take the precursor to thiamine and then your body can make what it needs. L-theanine typically works well at 50 mg per day. Benfotamine also works well and it does cross the blood brain barrier.

I think I am having SIBO and I am still working on it. One symptom so prominent was fatigue. After researching and learning a lot online, I took Magnesium glycinate and B1 in Benfotiamine. It was so amazing my fatigue was gone!! B1 and Mg are such game changers!

Thanks for your kind sharing. B1 helped me a lot with my SIBO and fatigue. I took it for almost 20 days. I did find some paradoxical reactions like fatigue and indigestion when I went up my dosage. My current way is 900mg/day Benfothiamine + 1000mg/day of other low bioavailability B1.

Elliot Overton, Chandler Marrs, yourself Dr. Ruscio, several others... Derreck Lonsdale for decades.
Do you have any one sentence answer for why everyone with minor but confusing symptoms doesn't just try a few bottle of B1 and take a "bunch". This high dose thiamine approach just seems to easy (even though the explanations are complicated).

Thank you for your compliments! As far as I know, doses of up to 600 mg/daily have been studied and are shown to be safe/efficacious, so, if you want to dial up your dose, should be okay. B1 isn’t toxic so side effects aren’t likely, but some people are more sensitive than others

My personal experience after 25 years of constipation, loose stools and SIBO.
I’ll have Breakfast with whole oats soaked overnight and cooked for 40 minutes, at each meal I take 100mg (the low dosage was the best) of benfotothiamine and a milk thistle tablet, this brought me back to regular and compact stools. I take other supplements but these have made a difference. I’m also on a fodmap diet but still have some symptoms. I never thought I would achieve this result after so many years of suffering. Thank you doc. Ruscio! I had a acute pancreatitis and since then I've had and Sibo and IMO. How is something like that possible? Before the acute pancreatitis I had no digestive problems at all.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I’m not sure what the direct cause would be in your case, but the pancreas is, of course, involved in digestive processes, and inflammation/disease could potentially disrupt its function - namely, enzyme production. Thank you for all the information. I have read a lot about thiamine deficiency and Benfotiamine supplement and have wondered if Magnesium plays a role in the deficiency. Magnesium is required to transform thiamine into its active form. Therefore, I would think if Mg is low, B1 would be too. My husband has taken PPI drugs for a long time and I've read they can potentially cause Mg deficiency. He often feels tired and nauseous so I wonder if he's experiencing low Mg and B1. Do you have any information on this?
