I saw it at 3pm today. It was probably 4 people total watching it inside of the theater. The film made no sense at all and it was horrible. They must’ve paid Cate a ton of money to do this film. They also wasted Kevin Hart in this movie by giving him no funny material to work with! 😱😱😱😱😱
thank God because Roland is not a funny character in the games. Clap trap should be the only funny character outside maybe tiny tina. Krieg, Lilith and Tannis and Roland are not funny in the games.

i think many games could work as single movies, mgs 1, 2 and 3 would be perfect as movies, so would dmc 1,3,4 and 5. there are alot of fluff in games that are not required for a movie. and can easily be trimmed out without any loss. you could make a megaman movie, for example, and just have 4 robot masters, for example, or bioshock, and cut out 50-75% of the game, and still deliver an amazing movie. same with the forest. of course, that's not the case for many other games, most final fantasy would work as a 2-3 movie series, but have too many parts to work as a single movie, for example.
Theres no reason to make a movie out of a video game if it already had lots of cutscenes to tell the stories. But it still boils down to talent and ideas. Mario Bros. redeemed itself with a movie that Miyamoto approved and guided.

It really depends. I enjoy the Last of Us series, but I think it could really work as a movie as well. It's a simple enough plot to condense into a film. If you think about it, most games are maybe 20hrs long when you're done beating it. A lot of that time is spent just exploring, dying multiple times, completing random task, doing side quest, crafting, traveling, etc, a bunch of things that wouldn't even be in a movie or series. With a series, you're just able to dive deeper into backstory, characters, world building, etc, like in TLOU they were able to do entire episodes on Bill & Frank, & Riley & Ellie, which aren't really necessary. Something that typically can't be adapted into movies would be, Anime. There's too much to condense into a 2hr film. Rurouni Kenshin worked pretty well because it's grounded enough, you don't really have to do any world building, you don't have to explain why people have powers, etc.

Saw it tonight with my wife and I loved it. A hell of a lot better than Madame Web or Morbius. BUT, Borderlands is my favorite franchise on PlayStation, so I'm a bit biased...take that for what it's worth. lol I get where people come off saying it's a bad movie, but I had a blast watching it.
I saw it. As a patron that's never played Borderlands..I think it was fine. Was it great? No. Was it entertaining...yeah. Was it funny? A little bit. It's a good way to burn two hours but I wouldn't pay to see it again but I'd watch it again once it starts streaming.

Same, moments I thought were good, like ClapTrap I thought shined in the movie but it’s still a bad movie. Sucks because I am a huge fan of the video game(borderlands 2 is my all time favorite video game) I was really hoping to be able to go into multiple movie versions of this world. I haven't played any Borderlands, but if it's reviewed *this* badly, I can only assume that it has absolutely nothing in common with the source material, which, after the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was basically a greatest hits of everyones childhood who grew up in the late 80's/early 90's, you would think the studios would know not to mess with the source material, but I guess they never will.
As a borderlands fan the only thing I was worried about was that despite being inaccurate this movie would somehow be good. Now I can tell everyone to play the games instead (borderlands 2 is a masterpiece)

The movie was damned from the start. It came out almost a decade after the hype, for the franchise died out. It also had the worst miscasting I’ve seen a movie adaptation to have. But most of all, it was PG-13.

4 people walked out of my screening, and I wanted to walk out but was with a friend who was a fan of the games and wanted to see it through. To me, it is the worst film I’ve seen in years. I was ready to walk out 10 minutes in. They start and often have long-monologues with the worst dialogue to explain everything. I did not care for any of the characters, and therefor none of the action either. I was like “please let the bad guys win and end this movie now!”. Save yourselves, it’s not even fun as a bad movie 😂

I always say video games should be made into TV Shows. There’s no way you can executed it in 2 hrs or whatever
