Red, another awesome video, my friend and you try to stay warm out there and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Thank you, Red, for documenting the Iowa Northern train on its way through Waterloo, Iowa, and the meeting of Canadian National trains #L570 and #L571 on 18 January 2025. All those gondolas coming into Waterloo, Iowa on train #L570 was an unusual sight. Once Canadian National takes over the Iowa Northern Railroad, I wonder how long the Iowa Northern slugs will survive. (Posted on 22 January 2025 at 2333 VST.)
I drove for Renzenberger. Took CN crews from Champaign to Chicago and Paducha. Old ICG. Crews had ZERO respect for ceo. Said railroad had gone to hell with CN in control
Great ianr catch. Big power. I was zooming in on the silver fence by the Grove when you bumped the drone button lol. I thought wth lol. Did you get the email I sent with the old cnw engine..
Very nice production of some Iowa Trains. I visited Around Mason City a couple times years back! Only got glimpses of the ICE then! Thanks for sharing the views! How far from Mason City were these filmed???
What dedication taking video in 12 degree weather with no gloves! I wonder if all those gondolas carried ties that were dropped off somewhere west of Waterloo?
@fallingup90 I'm guessing those gondolas came up from Council Bluffs. Seems uncommon for the L570 to meet the L571 in Waterloo. Usually it's quite a bit later.
Hey Red, My birthday video! Man Iowa Northern almost always have big power on their trains. Their trains must be really heavy. I hope they keep the slugs. Are all the Iowa Northern locos two wheels per axle (don't know if I'm asking that question the right way but hopefully you'll know what I'm talking about)? Only 3 CN engines CNL570? Only 2 on the CNL571? Nice horn salute he gave ya as well. All in all another great video brought to us by RITV! Cheers from your neighbor to the North. 🇨🇦
CN’s Acquisition of Iowa Northern Approved by STB MONTREAL, Jan. 14, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CN (TSX: CNR) (NYSE: CNI) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Surface Transportation Board (STB) has approved CN’s acquisition of Iowa Northern Railway Company (IANR). The decision allows CN to combine IANR’s 175 route miles with CN’s nearly 20,000-mile rail network as early as February 13, 2025. A combined CN-IANR will offer single-line service to better connect grain, fertilizer, renewable fuels, and industrial markets to CN’s North American network. Customers and local businesses along the IANR network will benefit from new optionality to respond to the needs of their existing markets and accelerate growth in new markets.
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 i agree. I emailed cn to tell them we really like the ianr color scheme and could they leave it the same , but haven't heard back yet
I'll bet anyone 10 bucks that within 2 weeks CN's power desk starts trying to boss IANR around. I know it looks really cool that IANR uses so much power but there is a reason for it, especially on the hills toward Cedar Rapids. I've talked to a few IANR officers before. IANR knows their own needs better than Canada ever will. I am still opposed to the sale and I want the decision reversed.
I see nothing good about CN taking over this railroad ☹️Big corporations just won't care about service to the small elevator operator hopefully I'm wrong but I doubt it

@davidpierce1837 You're welcome David P!
Great lash-up with the slugs, nice catch
@Rickytrainwrestlingfan55 Thanks Ricky!
@redsiowatrainvideos6645 I enjoyed it, more IANR more Iowa Northern

thanks red

@SebastianLandrus Thanks Sebastian!
Let's hear it for Red.........he knows his weather. Even with cold fingers 😂.

ITS DRONE TIME! 👍👍😄
@@scottsmith7051 OH yeah!
I agree, Red. Keep the slugs!
I doubt CN will keep much of anything, maybe the 38s, but I doubt the F40s and slugs will last long once they get enough power there
Nice catches

@chuxproductions1090 Thanks CHUX! Video was about 80 miles South Southeast of Mason City👍
Red. I think you got a salute from L571 near the new trestle.
@fredtrench5684 Sure did Fred!

Pretty uncommon to have all those gondolas on the locals! Funny how CN will be in control of a railroad with a CP-esque paint scheme.

Another great video Red. May ask what drone you use?
@gregmiller1951 Thanks Greg! Dji air2s.
@ awesome, that’s what I use too. Great drone control Red. You capture some great footage.
@gregmiller1951 It's been great. I may look into the air3s for the extra battery life.

@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 that's great news.
Is CN going to rehabilitate or rebuild the lines?
