- The Hammerhead Machine Gun from the Black Armory has returned this week in Destiny 2 with the release of the Into The Light DLC. It's an extremely strong weapon with a couple problems that hold it back from being perfect. Regardless, we are going over all the god rolls it has to offer to see how it performs.

I agree this is why I just hit that subscribe button. She gets right to the point and avoids telling people what they want to hear or what they're used to hearing from everyone else! It's like other creators try to sell you guns. Most guns in this game suck ass after a short time and then they go in the vault for a long time. That's the truth about all of it
And people pretend like you gotta have it cause you're gonna use it all the time. No we're not. We're gonna use new seasonal weapons and new raid weapons Everytime they release. Hardly ever going to use hammerhead for no particular reason I don't like it at all. It's disappointing I guess

Hammerhead is great, but I agree....ammo economy is mediocre. Double damage perks makes it unique, but honestly.....Commemoration is still king of Void LMGs.
The roll I use that for some reason a lot of people overlook is extended mag perk, RewindR+KillingT while rocking WarRig,
KillingT bumps damage a 30% db and passively grants 10 to the magazine stat and with the War Rig it slowly reloads it back overtime and with Rewind you get a significant amount back when you have to dump the whole magazine, not the greatest dps but a great add and yellow bar clear with a pretty good boss damage.
When I run it I go with heavy ammo finder, reserve and scavenger mods. At times I don’t even have to break out my other weapons

I feel like every creator forgets to mention and/or test that onslaught DECREASES YOUR RELOAD TIME. You even say you need a reload benefit on this gun, but the one perk that buffs dps and reload speed is immediately glossed over. For people that dont own beyond light or dont raid, this is a must get.
Commemoration is just better, hammer head isn’t worth grinding
@@lloydtancrednot everyone raids and not everyone wants to farm old content for hours on end until they get enough red borders. If you don’t have harmonizers good luck. On average you need to kill the boss 140 times to get your five red borders. I can’t be bothered personally

You never want to manually reload LMG does not matter what reload stat is. Put on an autoloading mod and swap to other weapons once the mag is out.
Plus onslaught only improves dps but not total damage, which I think is more important in enduring end-game content.

The more I grind for the perfect hammerhead, the more I realize dimensional hypertrochoid is one of the best onslaught murder machines. Want a vid idea no one’s done? Review this heavily buffed gun. Chain reaction is getting a huge buff for heavies in TFS, but this gun got a specific massive buff in damage and wave width. A single shot cleans up a whole lane of enemies in onslaught. Envious and One for All make it insane. Not to mention it has waaaay better ammo economy than rockets. I use it with stasis artifact mods and renewals, particularly because im sick of Orpheus, but Orpheus and this build on the same time is cracked.
At least for me the reload isn’t that big a deal, but that ammo economy is definitely a bummer

Like your videos! A suggestion would be to have at the end or in the description, the final recommended perks for PVP and/or PVE rolls when you do a review. Even with a star system reflecting the overall weapons rating. I played a different game and one of the creators started doing that and it got popular since his youtube link and logo were on there. Great content!

I think I actually want FTTC. Often majors take a bit of damage before going down so I will have plenty of time to refund those bullets. It will be useless against red bars but that is fine because I rarely use machine guns on red bars anyways. The added ammo for the occasional boss is nice too. Hammerhead is great with it too thanks to its 90 AA.

Got one with Smallbore, AP Rounds, Destabilising, Killing Tally with a Reload MW. Whilst not perfect, definitely made me reconsider how good the Destabilising Rounds are!! Controlled Demolition, Scatter Grenades/Throwing Shield with Actium War Rig puts in HEFTY Work on the add clear.
Cant wait to get a Rampage x Killing Tally Roll & mow through adds with that behemoth. Destabilising Rounds with Gyrfalcons for the extra big booms is also pretty fun keeping the Invis/Volatile loop going.
Destabilizing rounds has a cool down. Not worth it on a heavy.

Demo, One for all on corrective measure has been my go-to for end game content or day 1 raiding. I can't say that Hammerhead can quite fill that roll

Thanks for a honest appraisal of the weapon . 12 hours wasn’t to bad I think I put in nearly double before I landed the Ram/K tally roll . Ammo is absolutely an issue on bosses it’s possible to end up reloading while there’s one tiny tick of health left on them . This is definitely an onslaught and hoard weapon and the surrounded I have works pretty good in those situations. I like it but I agree it’s not thee best . With that said it is an excellent 2nd option especially if you don’t have commemoration .
I just default to a demo and adrenaline junkie corrective measure for years. As a warlock w builds that capitalize on grenades this roll just always works perfect for me. The play loop is just too perfect. Especially with Verity’s Brow. But the rampage tally roll is definitely tempting.
Love your honesty
Desperate Measure is being overlooked by everyone. Think about how many abilities you’d have access to with Prismatic. Imagine a scenario where you have encounter with major/boss among the minors, you will need to look for red bar and prime it together ready for the beefy guys.
In the current sandbox, you should be using a bunch of abilities to deal with those small fry anyway making Desperate Measure x2 (20%) basically free.In the same scenario, you throw a grenade at the spawn of red bar and deal with the major right away. Unlike Golden Tricorn, you don’t need to get weapon kill first. You only need that if you want to go 30%, to me that is a bonus task if you want.
Killing Tally is great but if you are going to deal with Minor/Major does Rampage really help you that much? Remember that you have 5s of Rampage without killing. I haven’t tested but Killing Tally by itself should help you deal with those adequately and the 5s extra damage is just free bonus for you.
I think the roll people should chase depends largely on how they would use it. No matter the damage perks, MG will not out dps other heavies. So If you deal with the peons using MG, you better have a good DPS special combo ready.
Been using my hammerhead drop with 4th time's the charm and killing tally in onslaught. Works a charm for me in onslaught so far.
You tell the truth about things and show in clear, combat form why you feel your testing and valued opinion makes sense. Truth is something in this world we need more of. Commo DSC LFG and Retrofit Escape are stock for me yet Hammerhead with the new origin traits have a place in the correct load outs. agree with Maven. I run rampage onslaught and its amazing until i have to reload. something i forgot i even have to do with my crafted Retrofit escapafe (4th time + target lock). Since i dont have the commemoration i will keep the roll as an alternative for some fun speed runs on Lost sector and onslaught but nothing ground breaking. back on grinding Forbearance
Shiny roll shenanigans: Get one with Envious/Rampage + Onslaught. Front load your reserve to get it to 200+ ammo swap to Rampage and let the bullets fly.
Even with everyone calling an MG an add clear weapon, its not as if you'll never have a period where you're using another weapon. Plenty of times to use a primary and honestly you don't need to use an MG to kill every red bar.
Envious "requires setup" and sounds like a hassle but in most every day activities you're doing, you'll get envious to proc way more than not.
I was using EA/onslaught last night with my voidlock and it was pretty fun. But other than xeno I don’t hardly ever go for a machine gun for my heavy so I probably won’t be attuning this one or anything

I have Rampage + Onslaught, and I agree with you, I'd rather have Rampage + Killing Tally.
Onslaught doesn't buff your damage, only your DPS. So you're using more bullets per kill, which is a problem on a gun being used primarily for add clear.
Commemoration with Enhanced Subsistence + Killing Tally > Hammerhead. You never have to reload cleaning up red bar and majors. It makes Legend Onslaught ez

I'm just glad I got a shiny with Envious/FTTC and Onslaught. With Appended and back up I get a base 75, with Envious I can get it to 225. With FTTC it wont activate on the overflowed portion but will kick in once I dip into my base mag size.
Meaning 150 rounds then 75 rounds of FTTC when I swap off Envious. Is it meta? No. Is it worth getting? Maybe not. But its one of 2 MGs with Envious and I'm going to take full advantage of that mag size and Onslaught lol.
Double damage is cool but feels more like a bait when in reality, I'm not often going to be using an MG for boss DPS.

My envious assassin + killing tally with 219 shot in the mag without reloading is insanely fun and strong for mob control or even major or onslaught boss melt, totally replaces my crafted commemoration. Anything with rampage is bad now, esp higher tier activities, by time u get max stack u barely have meaningful ammo left.

My shiny has Ambitious Assassin and Rampage in the 3rd and Onslaught in the 4th which is brutal when I build up the mag then swap over to Rampage for extended slaughter time

I dropped a rampage desperate measures and thats staying on my hunter for a gyrfalcons ad clear machinr gun you just need 2 grenade or melee kills to proc x3 so its not to bad

LMGs are good for ad clear in high level content, if your going to use it for single target dps might as well put on apex or edge transit instead.

I feel like what can make this unique from other great void machine guns is the fact that it can get destabalizing rounds. I'm looking for an ammo onslaught roll and destabilizing killing tally roll.
Destabalizing has a cool down once a single enemy is effective by it. Not worth a slot on a heavy.. better off using a void primary weapon with that perk imo.
Good to know. But something I figured out about destabilizing rounds today, is that they will proc the devour aspect for warlock.

Well, these are your opinions. I'll just say that heavy ammo finder exists, Aeons exist, Cenotaph exists. Also, Desperate over Killing Tally (refreshable, can activate stowed, don't need to cheese the reload; also, harmonic holster is a thing). Double damage perks aren't necessary. Destabilizing is great (Bungie obviously is pushing class + gun element synergy hard and has for a while so leaning into that makes sense.) This thing has a place among the void LMG's, and I'm not at all sure double damage perks is the optimum. Hell, even Envious - that can hugely overflow the mag and acts like a variation of auto-load, that can be very strong. And either way, 900 rpm LMG's are most likely superior... in D2, the faster the gun, the better it tends to be.
Saving the best for last.
4times the charm is the only magazine perk that will give you ammo from thin air. I would think onslaught + 4times the charm for that free ammo out of thin air
Maven may not like Desperate Measures but that can activate when stowed, so getting that up to three stacks for 30% damage is not hard. I'm pretty sure it also persists through a reload, and kills refreshes it. FTTC and that is probably one roll I want to try to get. Also, Destabilizing and Desperate.
I've got killing tally and fourth times the charm, whilst I don't have increased damage from your choice, I have endless action without ever needing to reload.
Personally I think mine is the best God roll, for me. 😘
what about retrofit escapade? You can get over 700 rounds on it !!
Hammerhead is the greatest…with Rampage/KT and Actium War Rig. Trust. Just wait until Delirium comes back, with its 115 round mag (backup mag perk)
If you are playing this for 12 hours grinding then why don’t you stream?

@georgiabulldog7671 not for everyone. There are millions of TH-camrs that don't wish to stream and feel uncomfortable in front of live audiences who are still very successful. The streaking market is incredibly oversaturated as well, and there are no great platforms.

Onslaught and killing tally for hammerhead, If you want an amazing destabilizing round LMG, the LMG from Gambit with the origin trait wildcard.
Fat mag, heavy hitting, and leaves a minefield of telestos around on kill.
That's my baby right there. Qua zaphan or something. Destabilizing rounds and field prep. Hits like a truck and paints the place purple.

Ummm, I must say that using it on a Void Titan wearing Actium War Rigs works. Especially with my Rampage and Killing Tally. No reload means it never stops Killing Tally. 73% DMG increase
After purchasing about 10 rolls, I kept rampage+target lock. If you want a solution between area damage+dps, I think it is ok!!

This is way more in line with my analysis of Hammerhead. I've seen a lot "NEW BEST MACHINE GUN, MUST HAVE" clickbait titles and personally, I'd take Commemoration and Song or Or Yut over this, especially when there's so many other Brave weapons that are actually best in slot.
