Have you ever wondered about the differences and similarities between a regular watercolor brush and a water / aqua brush? In this video, I'll talk about all the pros and cons so you know exactly what to choose for your watercolor journey!
Its good to see you update regularly. Never stop painting unless you want to and remember yor artwork is amazing no matter what people say. So keep making these helpful videos! Xx
I recently got a Pentel Aquash water brush and I love it so much! I definitely get more control with my regular brushes, but not having to worry about spilled water jars means I can paint basically anywhere, including the couch and my bed. I mostly use it with my sketchbook because, yeah, anything larger (requiring lots of water water) would be a chore to paint.
i love love love your tutorials. I have just started watercolor and i use youtube a lot to learn and your videos are always FOOLPROOF. thank you for making things so beginnner friendly. most painters dont realise that they are automatically doing expert strokes or handling water and paint in certain ways that are second nature to them, but actually us beginners dont know how to do those small things and they make a huge difference! I hope you never stop making watercolor content
I started watercolor painting with your guides in March and I have to say, things would be so challenging without them. Doors to a whole new world opened to me because of you. Thank you
I like the waterbrush for when I feel lazy and don't want to deal with jars. I use a spray bottle to get the paper wet for wet on wet techniques and washes.
Another Pro for water brushes: right now I have a really small workspace and cannot fit two jars of waters along with my palette and sketchbook.A water brush solves that, and I totally wasn't influenced by the fact that my PC is right next to me and I don´t want to accidentally spill water everywhere ( _cough_ ) .
I bought an aquabrush to be able to paint on the go. What I discovered is that I use it at home more because I can just sit down and paint right away. Even though getting a couple cups of water doesn't seem like it takes that much time, mentally it does. I am a working mom of three kids, so sometimes those few seconds/minutes saved makes all the difference. Thanks for a great video!
I have an aqua brush but I never used them because I didn't know how to use them and what to expect from them because they are like aliens from the regular brushes, this video is very useful and I might give them a go again, thank you so much for this video Mako!!😁
Thanks A Ton For The Help Mako I Was Thinking Of Getting New Brushes But Didn't Knew Which One To Buy But Now I Know That I Need Good Old Regular Brushes Thanks To You Love Your Videos! :D
Before coming on this video I was not knowing about water brush pen, after watching this video I purchase a packet 😁 of this brush and now they are so useful to me. Thanks 😊
I use my water brushes a lot. Sometimes, I have to squeeze the barrel really hard to get water to come out. But, they do work for how I paint. I do recommend using a regular brush if painting on a larger sheet of paper. Water brushes are great for little paintings.
I'd never heard of a water brush and I think I'll stick the regular style. But I'm intrigued by that travel brush you briefly showed. Will want to pick up one of those. Thanks for your explanations!
Thank you so much for your guide !! I usually use natural hair because it holds a lot of water and it is quite smooth and gives more control , but I even use the synthetic brushes sometimes for calligraphy 😋
I've gotten so used to using a waterbrush that I was so confused when I tried painting with a normal brush. 😂 My pieces had so many backruns because I always have too much water on the brush.
Thank you! so much for sharing so many easy tips on brushes. ☺l was planning to buy water brushes but was confused that how to use, clean & the quality ofcoarse. After watching your video i am clear and doubtless.Thankyou once again😊 LOTS OF GREETINGS AND LOVE💗
Hi mako ❤️ I was fascinated by this aqua brush pen for a long time and wanted to buy them but don't know much info and different between this pen and regular brush😅 you clarified all my doubts🤩 it's really helpful video 👍🏻
I usually use waterbrushes for gradients, especially for letting colors fade out (so gradients from color to paper) and for certain textures but I use regular brushes if I want a more even color/texture
Muchas gracias por el video. A mí me gusta usar ambos porque con los normales puedo humedecer más uniforme el papel y con los waterbrush abarcó detalles y áreas pequeñas.
Thanks for this video! It was really useful and helpful! I love how your explanations are always thorough in all your videos and are easy to understand! Thx mako!💜
I got a waterbrush in the beginning but I didn't used it much as it was hard to control the amount of water in 1 squeeze but with the ink in it is actually a great idea. might have found a new use of that brush now 👍🏻😊
I admire your patience with this video. If it’d been me, the whole video would’ve just been me throwing the water brush in the bin and then painting with the regular brush.
Thank you for this video I been going back and fourth and there is pros and cons; brush can hold the paint more but you have to wash frequently then the water brushes cant hold ink but you can rinse them out so easily I don't have to go to the sink as often.
Thank You so much for this video. It helped a lot as I got my water brush recently and I had not much idea about that. And also, I haven't used it till now for that reason. Thank you so much Mako!!!
hi Mako! Can you please tell me some brushes which are best for watercolour? I use HOMER paint brush though it's not so good enough.Thank you so much for this video Mako!!
The water brush is probably my favorite art tool for how versatile it is. You can change both the opacity and stroke weight fairly seamlessly. It is messier, but it is so much more freeing to me.
