Lived there in late 80's. What an awesome time back then.
Too many ppl now
i live in conway right next to it, i stay entirely to myself. but still way to many damn people
You have a wonderful sense of humor! Your narration during this video cracked us up! We've been going to Myrtle Beach since our honeymoon in 1980 and loved your tips. GREAT JOB!
Thank you! I appreciate you and the compliment! My wife and I got married in Myrtle and had our honeymoon there too haha
Rule #1 DON’T LET YOUR KIDS PLAY IN THE STORM WATER RUN-OFF DRAIN ON THE BEACH. That’s disgusting there’s Pee, Poo and everything that goes in the drains on the street goes straight in the run-off drain
Water is brown and polluted from run off drains and creeks. Myrtle Beach is very dangerous. At one time it was the most dangerous city of it's size. 300× the national average. Especially in the neighborhood by the Skywheel. Walking from the hotel parking garage across Ocean Blvd at night could cost you. It used to be a nice place back in the day. Its gone down hill since the 80's for sure
Storm drains and sewage are two different things. They go two different places. Unless you have people pissing and shitting in the streets your comment is unfounded.
@@glory70xThe water is brown from the sand and natural debris the ocean kicks up. Educate yourself before you post comments.
@@mccalejk2 I guess your one of the people that like swimming in the Storm drains of a major city
Going on Sunday and most excited about finally seeing the ocean
It’s raining every day 😭😭😭
I recommend staying in little river too. It's close enough without all the people. Everywhere is driving distance. Lol, but we stayed many times in little river and went to Atlantic Beach for the ocean. It's usually less cluttered with people compared to proper myrtle. Yes you will have a better time if you stay north or south of myrtle Beach. The food is better and the people are a bit friendlier. We vacationed here for 10 years before moving here 16 years ago. Sad to say it's gotten worse over the last quarter of a century
Great tip! Thank you!
MB was a wild place to party during spring break and the first week of summer after the schools let out back in 1960's. The first three years I went there I never even saw the ocean. There were always a lot of good barroom brawls everywhere they had live hillbilly bands. Something about that music, it's so depressing that after four or five beers the furniture would always start flying.
I live here. We treat bike week like a hurricane. Get everything you need so you drive as little as possible during that time.
Going here today, Never been here before and excited
We. Go. Too.
We always stay at the holiday pavilion right next to the sky wheel on the boardwalk. Very convenient. Within walking distance of restaurants, convenient stores, and entertainment.
Thanks for showing a bit of Kingston Plantation, we have a second home there, it’s on the north end of Myrtle and much quieter, a hidden gem.
I haven't been to MB in a long time I see it's changed a lot . I come to Myrtle Beach just to see the ocean, all I care about is the ocean. .
And that's all that matters. Pray you have a good time.
My family and I have been going to MB since the '80's for the most part. We used to stay at the Hampton Inn, which is a wonderful hotel resort, but our family has become too big for their largest suite, so, we've been going to North MB for the past few years staying at the Mar Vista Grande air b&b, which is also a great resort. We're going there next month!
Cool enjoy your visit next month!
Keep your beach, l will stay at home 😂
I live in Murrells Inlet and he's right, The Marshwalk is a pleasant area to visit and have a great meal. My favorite is The Dead Dog Saloon at the back ( Inlet View) bar. There's always a cooling breeze back there and free hushpuppies during happy hour. When friends come to visit the first thing they ask is if we want to go to Dead Dog. Just don't go anywhere near it during the bike weeks. Not because it's dangerous or anything like that, it's just way, way too crowded. Try the salmon at J peters or the wood fired pizza at Bovines or anything at the Claw House. I love the wood fired pizza at Bovines. As a Virginia native and retired in Murrells Inlet 20 years ago I can say that during the offseason we thoroughly enjoy everything it has to offer. Just sayin'.
Thank you Karl! I appreciate you!
Great reminders! The dogs on the beach calendar is one that I see the most forget about.
Something most people aren't aware of is the first week of November, the American Heart Association sponsors a beach ride where several hundred people will be riding horses from Lakewood Campground into Myrtle Beach. I've been on ride the last two years and plan to be there again this year.
That’s so cool! I had no idea! Thank you for sharing!
@@TravelGuidesUS last year I got a picture of me on my horse with the Swamp Fox coaster in the background, just wish I had been able to ride it.
Good Reminder!
We visited Myrtle Beach back in 1999 and stayed at the Light House beach was right out back of our building ! Wondering if the Light house still standing we loved it spent a week there! Course that was many years ago ago
I don’t know! Sounds like a great spot
That tip about not swimming near the piers.
Would that apply to ANY pier on a beach anywhere?
If there is fishing allowed I’d say so
God, I miss Myrtle Beach lived there for 10:years my estranged wife and 3 children are still living there In Socastee
Good advice. Also do not stay at the Dayton house it's the worst Motel I've ever stayed at in my entire life
We always rent a beach house in Garden City. 👍👍
We. Go. Too. Myrtle. Beach
Please tip your server. We live here and my daughter tried to work as a server in several of the restaurants while in college, however she gave up because people did not tip. Servers make approximately $3.00 per hour and they work very hard.
They do. You are 💯 right!!
I understand. even though I hate tipping. Restaurants owners should paid these workers a competitive wage. But I always try to tip big when I'm a MB. Those waiters and Waitress really work hard for their money.
4:54 well no one should feel pressured to tip for a bad experience.
If that is the case, tip based on the experience and try not to believe those pre-calculated tip suggestions at face value.
Many times they are calculated with the tax included.
Tipping should be on the pretax total.
Tipping on tax is 😢.
There is another Bike Week in the fall, this year (2024) it runs from 30 Sept to 6 Oct
We went there about 10 years ago , stayed in Surfside beach area. The sharks were swimming right near the shore line maybe 40 feet from the sand . That was not near piers or anything like that . They were not that small either.
St Augustine is a great vacation spot
Don't trip or stumble leaving a bar at closing time either unless ya wanna spend a nite in the box.
Myrtle Beach Police an be real A$$holes. they will sit near bars and watch who they can trip on.
I can vouch for Murrells Inlet. We eat at Dead Dog Salon at least three times when we visit.
Also, Broadway at the Beach is really good alternative to Barefoot Landing. They show a clip of it at the beginning of the video (the yellow speedboat) but don’t mention it lol
As far as reviews I stayed at a hotel where ppl said it was ass and it wasn’t don’t always listen to reviews either
How about the primary DO, especially in North Myrtle Beach, where the living is sweet?! NOW is the time to BUY, BUY, BUY, and I DON'T mean a condo with skyrocketing HOA dues. I'm talking about the BEST KEPT "secret" in North Myrtle Beach, and that is the Intracoastal Mobile Home communities, like the prized "Foxfire" that the boats pass by between Myrtle Beach and Little River, and look longingly at the stunningly beautiful homes that do NOT look like Mobile homes! With Lexus, Mercedes and BMW in the parking lot, easy to see why.
NOW IS THE TIME to be checking "Zillow" and "Realtor" for North Myrtle Beach mobile homes $125K and under. YES, you read right!! Time to sell that high taxed house in NJ and NY, buy a sweet little beach home outright, sock your money in the bank and start living the "shaggers" life!
That is EXACTLY what I did, and it was the BEST FINANCIAL MOVE I could have made! Find a home that has already been remodeled, and you're GOLDEN!
I live like 20 minutes from Myrtle and go quite often... it's not as fun as it used to be.
If you like crowds and ridiculous traffic then this is the place for you. Dont ever let your kids out of your sight.
Where is the most laid back beach to stay for seniors in myrtle beach, what about pawley island
Hi there, I'm a local and we have some fantastic places for seniors. You mentioned Pawleys and that's a great one! North Myrtle has a very senior friendly atmosphere in their parks and through their downtown events. Little River and Calabash are also worth the short drive for the great food and folks.
I tell people 3 important things when going to myrtle beach, 1 research 2 research and 3 research. And on a side note remember you get what you pay for. There are alot of dumps that should be avoided at all cost and one is Bar Harbor
Rich, I think you forgot research!
1. Do NOT (anywhere) drive at anytime at 8pm or after e or anyone else hits you because they didn’t see you, you WILL pay for damages! 2. USE your BLINKER when turning or changing lanes!!! Don’t tell me your vehicle came optional with them! 3. Do NOT drive 5 to 10 mph or more slower than the speed limit in the fast lane! If you should have to drive real slow despite having 2 or 3 or more car lengths on front, MOVE over to far right or someone will yell or play move b#%€£ get out the way…. lol. USE your gps if you don’t know WTH you’re going. 4. Drive safe but keep a safe distance from the car ahead. Too many idiot drivers tend to want to ride bumpers. If someone in front of me or someone else or even myself, has another vehicle or object or animal jump or stop or fall in front of the vehicle, if you’re too close, you could rear end someone. 5. Do NOT drive in the city at night blinding other drivers with high beams…dim it! Last but not least …6. Do NOT tailgate/ride someone’s vehicle..There’s no reason for it. If after 1 or 2 break taps as a warning to back off,,if you persist, you will get brake checked. Be safe, have fun!
Will be in new york in august... then plan to drive either south up till myrtle beach or drive up north up to arcadia national park...
Im from europe and wondering what you guys would recommend...
If you want to enjoy the beach and swim. Then myrtle isn’t a bad option.
For the views and not as warm as water Maine would be a good route to take.
I recommend checking out and
Comparing the price points for both too. Enjoy and thanks for watching :)
First timers, we are staying in north Myrtle
Most of my In-Laws violate #10 all the time. I'll be up at 5:30 am ,dressed and out the door by 6:00 am just to watch a sunrise while standing on the shore.Eat a quick breafast and come back to the room around 11:00. They are just getting outta bed.
#9 , I only bring an Old Laptop in case my room gets broken into. But never had anything stolen.
# 2. Bike week used to be great. But when they started blocking off the road. Getting around became a traffic pain in the ass.
# 1. That may be a good Idea. I have a Cousin that lives in Surfside. I could pay her to stay at her place for a few days and ride my Bicycle or car to Myrtle Beach each day.
don’t go to Carolina Winds i think its called we had a not great experience like the roof was leaking and and almost collapsed on us so we just left! And mold everywhere
Going there in 2days🎉🎉🎉
Hope you enjoy it! Enjoy the beach
Going down for the 4th
I wonder what The Kingfisher Inn in Garden City looks like nowadays?
Well it is roped off after being evacuated in the Spring due to structural issues. It was so dangerous they literally made the guests pack up and get out.
@@jblooz2371 I remember we got a timeshare there when I was 12 and had it for years come on the last time my father and myself went down in 2002 it was in need of repair I remember we had the longest pier on the Grand strand until Hugo came took half of it and half of the swimming pool. I'm 47 now so I can only imagine what it looked like since 2002. I'm really sad because it was a nice place when I was 12 but I guess everything was nice once. Thanks for the update, God bless.
It's the rollercoaster guy doing beach reviews.
And a bunch of other stuff :)
First time going there as a little kid I saw shark swimming towards the shore just minutes being on that beach never again
#1 is wrong its myrtle beach dont get caught in the traffic trying to get to myrtle
Got a vlog if you wanna how litt Myrtle really is
Thank you!
Mustang Week - also a bad time to visit. Lots of idiots doing stupid things in Mustangs.
lol good to know! Thank you
Naaaaa, surely not. Lol
What about sun shade? They said u can have a tent on the dune lines
I would just check out the cities official website for all of the restrictions.
I expect umbrellas , back in the day they had rentals , can’t say now . We use a shabumi but if you are planning just one trip they are pretty pricy and if the breeze stops, your shade goes away .
@@KrisK-i4f we had a sun tent and they told us to take it down..we were behind the lifeguard chair i dont understand why we had to take it down..
I find it funny that the 2 reviews for the hotels are completely on different levels and shouldn't have even been compared. BS running a little over 100 bucks or less a night when we stayed there years ago compared to a brand new hotel by Hilton and coming in at over 600 bucks a night... like really🤦♂️
2 shootings on Memorial day weekend, MB has NOT been safe for years folks
You tourists stay in the resorts, don't wander off after dark. The boulevard is not far from the dumps like withers swash, 3rd Ave, Atlantic Beach, etc. Seriously, stay in the resort areas. Lived here almost 30 years.
Want a safe place to do whatever whenever? Go to Murrell's Inlet.
@@Matt-re3or you are spot on Matt!
The biggest "Don't" for Myrtle Beach is go........as in "Don't go to Myrtle Beach". Overpriced, crowded, getting run-down, lots of low-life druggies on the streets. Vacation elsewhere. After last year, we vowed we were done with the place.
Rule # 1 -- NEVER go to Myrtle Beach. Go to one of the other ones nearby like Surfside, Cherry Grove etc.
Don’t move there, worst drivers I ever saw! 501 is crazy!!!!!!
That bad and disgusting driving is because so damn many Yankees moving here..
I've experienced The 501 in 2023. It was horrid.
I also most gotten into a road rage on 501 last month!
Just leave yo shit in the hotel don’t be ridiculous and bring your Wallet phone or anything down to the beach enjoy yo self
But I stay at the Crappy Pattie hotel, I think it’s safer bring all my stuff.
@@brwils3378 that I can get behind
@@brwils3378lol
80s was awesome now it’s a shit hole thank you
IT ANT THE BEECH UBLESS ITS IN FLORIDA
This place is not for everyone !!!
Local restaurants gouge tourist
Be ware most of parking is corporate owned pay parking and handicap parking is not free and the lots wre not well posted as a pay lot. And be.ieve what i say they will put a tire boot on your vehicle. At a cost of 185.00 to get it removed.MB police does not care about the extortion that takes place at these paid parking lots.
Don't go to Myrtle Beach. It's way too crowded. The ocean is full is tiny, pretty much invisible octopi: you will notice a tinging sensation as you wade into the water--yep it's the octopi.
№¹ rule stay outta Myrtle. Just as bad V.A. beach
1 I was there in 1972. Before Yankee money and drugs took over. Well guess what. It was
Great as was Isle of Palms and edisto before my
Money came in and destroyed it.
Compared to Gulf Shores and the Florida panhandle, Myrtle Beach sucks.😊
Myrtle Beach is so overrated, The prices on everything are ridiculous. Me and my family have a better time having a pool party at the house or going to the local lake or River...
Very cool, please subscribe
