That shock cord waist strap is an item they sell separate from the kit bag for a few bucks. Works well for what it is.
And the tension on the zippers going around the corners is pretty normal, the HPG guys rec'd method is to meet the zippers near the corners and leave a gap so you can grip and rip that compartment open faster.
    Thanks for the review!

So, HPG kit bags are designed to not be used with holsters. That's why velcro isn't necessarily found in the rear pocket. They say as much on their site. They mention that there is basically only a single trigger guard that they recommend, and even then they stress that you dont need it and the kit bag was never designed for it.

      So dumb. Monumentally dumb.

The trail running bag would’ve been nice for observing admin OPs or mortep type ranges when i was a foward observer. Nice and lightweight and i can fit binos map notebook markers etc.

The Runner’s Kit bag shown is a very old gen, before the velcro strip became standardized. If you order a new Runner’s Kit Bag it will come with the velcro strip in the firearm compartment.

Baffling why they choose to not line the entire wall of CCW pocket with velcro. Ideally they’d use the same PALS/velcro stuff in both pockets. This is my ONLY gripe about this bag.

So I actually used a Ferro concepts chesty wide with dope pouch on a trail marathon this summer and it worked really well held all my snacks and chews along with my phone in the dope pouch and I put two water bottle holders on the wings and it was super comfortable. Just throwing that in there!

They were backordered or out of stock so deeply during the pandemic that I stopped paying attention. Thanks for the review and the reminder.

Unfortunately the medium belt pack is still constantly backordered. I ended up just getting something similar from Spiritus.

OP Tactical and 5COL Survival also stock HPG stuff, some of which is limited run.

@IrregularInterest which spiritus pack did you get. Is it comparable quality?

I love my belt pack but ac weak point was those wings. They would essentially delaminate and frey. I think they corrected that with some binding. Which is what I had my Taylor do. Also I found that a trigger guard was the better option.

I love Hill People Gear but a lot of their stuff hasn't been restocked in like 2 years. Not sure what they're doing but I'm losing faith really quick.

You have to put your email in. They are at the mercy of First Spear and they also seem to only restock certain items during hunting season. I waited a year to get another bino pouch and about 6 months for a multicam heavy recon. But I understand the frustration
