Ohtani is expected to generate $1billion in revenue for thr Dodgers by himself. That contract paid for itself. So that $700 million is money well spent and a brilliant deal
@@BaseballUnleashed13 no, becauae the Dodgers spent basically nothing to get Ohtani. Again, the contract has pretty much been paid off already with the insane amount of sponsorship revenue that Ohtani will generate for the Dodgers
that money wasn't spent to buy the talent of Ohtani for the next 10 years. it was for that + to buy the new dedicated fanbase of 110 million people of Japan, as well as to create a pipeline to fast tract top Japanese young talent to desire joining the Dodgers. for example, when the former prime minister of Japan was killed in an assassination, most of the air / basic channels switched immediately from their programs to broadcast his death, with some cable channels also doing so and a very few internet channel giving a crap, but when Ohtani signed with the dodgers, the press conference was broadcasted by vast majority of the channels regardless of the platform. Japanese travelling agencies have been booking various packages including for newly weds to visit Anaheim for Ohtani games + the Disneyland. Now that the same agencies have the entire LA along with Ohtani's games, they are going nuts. This is all happening while the Japanese Yen has hit the historically low value where their domestic people are getting killed in exchange rate to the dollar.
Yeah, I kinda stopped paying attention when you mentioned Carlos Rodon. He played one season as a Yankee. And, he was hurt early and never fully recovered. I totally expect a different Rodon this season.
Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate your love for the Cubs and your suggestion to include Heyward. I'll definitely keep that in mind for future videos.
I'm surprised you didn't include Wander Franco and his 11-year $182 million contract on this list. The Rays aren't paying that much AAV all things considered but they're sure paying a lot for someone who's never going to step onto the field ever again.
Thank you for recognizing our progress and believing in our potential! Your words mean a lot to us and motivate us to keep pushing forward. We're grateful to have supportive viewers like you.
Not sure if this was a current list of the worst contracts but by far one of the worst was Jacoby Ellsbury for the Yankees. Jacoby was never on the field and never played due to injury. All he did was collect the money from his contract.
OMG, I totally feel you! Jacoby Ellsbury's contract with the Yankees was a complete waste. He barely even stepped on the field, but still managed to rake in the dough. Smh!
To this day I feel bad for Chris Davis. I think ADD is overly diagnosed, but Crash really had it. The MLB made him stop taking his medicine and he started declining immediately after. Also, can someone explain to me how Cashman still has a job?
It's unfortunate when players face challenges that affect their performance. It's important for organizations to support their players' health and well-being.
Haters gonna hate, am I right? But seriously, Shohei is a beast and his performance speaks for itself. Keep the comments coming though, it's always fun to see different opinions!
This is more like the worst transactions in the last 10 years…. And most you can’t really comment on yet Bc the contracts are less than 2 years in. David did not care anymore once he got the bag$$$. You see some athletes don't care once they paid and he fits that bill. No one looses talent like him that fast at his age.
It's unfortunate when athletes lose their drive after getting paid, but it's important to remember that everyone's career has ups and downs. Let's hope David finds his passion again!
@@BaseballUnleashed13 Thank you. Nice channel you have. I have been watching baseball for half a century. It is so different now! I am glad the players get paid because they used to not be paid but I hate the three outcome style of play in vogue these days.

Yes, the Red Sox have definitely had their fair share of bad contracts. It's always a risk in professional sports, but sometimes it pays off big time too!
I wouldn’t say that the Carlos Rodon contract was a bad one. Yes, he had a really bad season in 2023, but he was dealing with injury’s and he had just joined a new team, I wouldn’t give up on him yet, the dudes still got time. Some people struggle their first year on a new team, because it takes some getting used to, but I wouldn’t call the Carlos Rodon contract a “bad” one quite yet. Also, Yankees fans can be kinda assholes, so if they were booing him because of one bad start, then that can lower morale for anybody, like I said, it takes some getting used to.
Thanks for chiming in on the Carlos Rodon contract discussion! It's definitely a controversial topic, but there are valid points on both sides. Let's hope Rodon can overcome the challenges he faced and show us what he's truly capable of next season. And yeah, Yankees fans can be a handful sometimes!
Lol no it's not. He's quit mentally. He will continue to miss lots of games and that's a best case scenario. He's likely to keep playing terrible on top of being "injured" constantly

Rodon has been great so far this season
Shohei’s merchandise, sponsorship, and ticket sales will more than pay for the contract.
That's a great point! Shohei's popularity and success will definitely bring in a lot of revenue through merchandise, sponsorships, and ticket sales.

They'd be able to nullify it with cause if he's convicted, so it won't be paid.

If Dodgers win the World Series this year it was all worth it.
