what is happening to baseball? japan never heard of baseball until 1872 when it was introduced to the island nation. Now, the baseball crazed island is cultivating exceptional players to import to MLB- Ichiro, Nomo, Matsui and now Yamamoto and Ohtani of the dodgers. No doubt the kid has talent. But what you failed to mention is he has never finished a full season in the NPB. He has had stamina issues, blisters on his throwing hand, and missed most of the 2025 NPB season with and arm injury that the Marines never gave a clear explanation. His velocity and spin were down in 2025, which leads to questioning how severe his arm injury was. The NPB balls are different than the MLB, it is unclear on how an MLB ball will affect his spin due to not be as tacky as an NPB ball. Sasaki has the ability to be a great pitcher in the MLB, but it will all depend on the team he signs with and the adjustments he makes.

Oriole would be the perfect match for Sasiki. He can grow with the best young talent on one team in baseball, pitch with Tomo, Rodriquiz, Eflin, Kremer, (Braddish and Wells at end of season) and possibly Burns or another top starter.

He reminds me of Jacob DeGrom. Who ever he signs with should develop him to ease up on the fastball, especially with his 6'2 frame. Mlb has a bigger ball then japan and it may strain his arm in the long run. Hopefully he can make it big over here.

He’s probably going to be a Dodger, as the Padres won’t be able to give him the lower workload he’s looking for to start his MLB career as a rookie. He wants to play it safe until he is able to get a proper paycheck, and that’s 100% fair tbh. This is why the Dodgers getting Blake Snell was so crucial, as it’s going to allow him to get tons of rest and not be likely to injure anything. He won’t have to be a hero his first year on the Dodgers, but he’d be expected to be if he went to the Padres. I’m now at the point where I feel it’s 95% likely he’s going to the Dodgers.
