This Isn't Good! 😫RV Water Issues (Reed Bingham State Park GA)

  • In this episode of Wandering Wagners we get on the road and head South where we experienced water issues with our Anderson Kantleak Valve.
We overnighted at @Walmart in Tennessee and we did a little shopping while we were there. No need for a generator since we have our 410Ah @Redodopower LiFePo battery that carried us flawlessly all night long.
We got back on the road and landed at Reed Bingham State Park in Adel, Georgia. This was the first Georgia State Park and we really thought it was beautiful!
We scored a full hook up site somehow and luckily Mike was able to make a bypass out of materials like Pex and @SharkBitePlumbing and @MilwaukeeTool Pex cutters to get the water back on in a temporary mod in our @NeXusRV Nexus Wraith 34W Super C RV.
We went on a few walks and the bugs loved us haha we showcased a few of the amazing campsites here at Reed Bingham State Park Campground.
We went on a @Jeep ride with the dogs and had a great campfire where I made some pizza pies over the fire. We decided to leave on the day it was supposed to storm like crazy and hoped we could stay one step ahead of it.

I ended up having to order a new Anderson valve for our Ghost. My original one is plastic, the replacement is brass. Maybe the replacement will hold up better than the original. The worst part, the Anderson valve has a 6 week lead time. Glad you were able to bypass the anderson valve for the time being.

The best thing I have found for the swarming bugs is menthol. I get the generic sore muscle spray with the most menthol I can find and spray my cap, shoes, back, etc. The bugs still swarm but they stay back and do not land. Works to keep ticks off also and I spray my socks or ankles good if walking through grass that may have other bugs. I used it on the mattress in the cabin we use to have, seems to work well for most bugs. I still use a mosquito net if they are bad. Nice park. Stay safe and healthy.

You both are AWESOME! My Wife and I can't travel in our RV as much as you do but I watch your channel when I miss "traveling in our RV". Mike seems a lot like myself...."Shells & Cheese" will do just fine as a meal while on-the-go. I also have a parts department in our RV like the many different PEX-fittings and hose & tools, not to mention other repair scenarios we might encounter. I would say - if something "broke-down", I would be able to repair it while on our travels about 90% of the time.
I wish I could have met you both at the HOOTERS in Clearwater last week (I wanted to, since I live so close). I'm sure we'll meet-up sometime in the future (in-our-travels). SAFE TRAVELING TO YOU GUYS, and KEEP HAVING FUN! Thanks for Sharing! -Todd

Interesting video as usual. We stayed overnight at that state park years ago on our way to Florida. We had the Anderson valve on our Isata, which also failed. The valve design and innards are a pain to deal with. Anderson advised to turn off water to the valve when changing positions, but I'm not sure it helps much.

    • @WanderingWagners

We’ve been RVing in motorhomes for 16 years. We came from a boat. In the boat you always use the tank and I carried it over and have always done it in our RV. Even in a campground we run off the tank. I just top it off each night before bed. Tank is always fresh, never smells because it used constantly.

Mike:"I'm and adult and treat me as such." That wasn't the message I got a couple of videos ago when I asked if you were ever going to grow up. Not that there's anything wrong with not growing up, heck I've been fighting growing up for 68+ years, but you can't have it both ways. Just sayin'. As for the Kantleak that cartridge is no longer available anywhere that I could find. The replacement valve is solid brass and last I knew cost about $250, probably more now but that's probably your best solution. Running completely off of the tank is not an all bad idea. If you turn the pump off every time you leave the RV your rig won't flood if you get a plumbing issue. If you're on city water and develop a leak you will likely come home to water running out of your coach. Just something to think about. As far as the rain goes, remember you are the Wagners. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Is your "kantleak" The plastic kind? Andersen stopped making them because of so many problems but they conveniently now make a brass one for $160 or so. Had to replace mine 2 yrs ago.

Just saw your video. I live about 10 minutes from Reed Bingham Park. Hate yall had to suffer the darn gnats. They are terrorists without guns. Buzzing in your face at the first warm day after winter and they don't leave until it turns cold. The hot weather is the second bad part of summer so the combination of the two makes it unbearable. Come in the winter and it will be a far better stay. The have a great nature trail too.
