Thanks for the video! I drive 28 miles to work. Mine broke at a gas station a mile from my site. Got a ride , saw your video, called a dealer. He said they only sell the entire cable. Seeen you had mentioned the part #. Went to O'reileys, struggled for 3 1/2 hours in the gas station parking lot. Zip tied it, got it to my site. Had to shave down the bushing to get it in. I used my grinder.. You saved me a tow bill, and who knows what a shop would have charged. THANKS!!!!

@@mcrum4421 quick question, did not find a good vid how to take out the old one. mines worn. brought my van in for a trans fluid change and filter. two days later my cable falls off. mangled mess of zip ties. i think the person i brought it to. i had the trans rebuilt 2.5 years ago and i only have 10k on it. i moved so i brought to a new place and no way have i been riding with those tiny zip ties for over 2 years. they were also rather shiny black. i live in new Hampshire and that's two winters its been thru and those would have been covered in crap not shiny if they been there for years.

Sounds fishy to me. But I don’t want to assume anything. It seems like good help is hard to find anymore.
The bushing is plastic so it should come right off with a pair of pliers. Lubing/greasing the new bushing one will make it easier to pop on to the transmission linkage post.

phew man, my step dads landscaping 2500HD just got stuck in park, I figured it was that too, and pulled out the electrical harness to bypass interlock solenoid and it worked (parts coming in from Amazon as I write this comment). I told him if that doesn't fix our issue it can be some other MUCH more difficult problems or links under the truck or in transmission lol. I know how that feeling is when your first guess isn't it- but this vid shows a nice and easy fix for the second seemingly common problem with transmission shifters in these GMs. Great job!

The bushing I used was made by Dorman part number 14055. I bought it at an O’Reilly Auto Parts. It came with two bushings. A clear and a white one. I used the white one. It was a booger to squeeze in. An extra set of hands would of been helpful. Unfortunately my helper hurt her hand in a fireworks accident a few days before I made this video.

Everybody is different but the Dorman 14073 bushing kit from the Auto Parts store does work best all you need is a cord or cordless drill, 3/8 drill bit or I’ve found that the 7/16 bit works best and pliers with 5 minutes or less of your time then done! No huge heavy C-Clamp or socket

Use the 14073 bushing for 2005 to 2012 Chevy Silverado. The one it suggest really doesn't work if your having a difficult time putting it in just get a small drill bit and shave each side of the hole and then snap the bushing in.. Shaving the hole makes the job a snap the suggested bushing does not work

This is the second video on this subject that I have seen and both fail to use a drop light to illuminate the underside properly. I can't see in the dark as I suspect many others also can't . Not trying to be mean but would help if we could actually see the work your conducting under the vehicle.

I tried for the LONGEST trying to get the white bushing in and could not get it. I used the method in this video perfectly and it would not go in. I ended up using the clear one. The clear one doesn’t seem as tight, but it still takes a decent amount of force to pop off from the selector. If it pops off down the line, I’ll put another in lol

You can heat up water in microwave and put the white one in the water then quickly install. I took the hot water under the vehicle with me.
