    Hey Road King looking good brings back memories of the 70s in the old body shop I kinda miss those sounds and the smell of lacquer thinner in the morning great job on that old truck it will be better than new when you get finished with it

    Nice job, nice to see you do it RIGHT, most guys would have just screwed it down and stuck the floor mat in and that would have been it. A lessen for these young guys, from us older EXPERIENCED men.

      @@805ROADKING It's the trying to get'em going, I sometimes have that problem with drywall screws, going into a hard material using a worn bit.

    looking good! on area's that fit good that can't be clamped I use a hi powered magnet to hold them in place for welding.

    Wow, that Makita right-angle drill sounds like it spins super fast! Plus, we always need the magic hammer to make everything right. Looking forward to your Jacktown videos!

    You’re sure doing it up right, RK! Those self tapping screws are a handy trick. I usually use Cleco fasteners, but your way is faster, especially for this type of work.👍

    Getting closer! Steel appears to be quite a bit more forgiving than aluminum. Welding instead of rivets too!

    Lookin good Road King !
    When you were dong body work for a living did you have wire welders?
    If not, how would you attach panels? Gas braze them?
    Just curious.

      Thanks Steve!! That was back in the 70's and 80's, we brazed them on or used a spot welder!! Migs were around but they were so expensive back then nobody owned them!!☺

    You do GREAT work and your many years of experience are showing. Have you ever used temporary Cleco fasteners which are used in sheet metal work on aircraft?

      That's an Atlas!! It's capable of turning something 6" wide by 18" long!! You can usually get them used from $500-$1200 depending on the condition!!☺

    Seeing you have all that fun with those screws reminded me of my last job doing HVAC work :P Nothing pissed me off more than when they would fly out from under my drill. I also hated when I hit something hard underneath the screw, like you did, and had to drill a new hole. That was especially frustrating when I was doing finishing work, and I wanted it to look nice. I had plenty of bad luck with those self-drilling screws, so I tried to stick with the standard "pointy" sheetmetal screws.
