  • In this video I cover the differences between volume, gain, master and output. I show you how and why you’ll want to adjust them and discuss how they work particularly on the Spark platform. Enjoy!

Thanks thats really helpful for a novice like me. I'd been keeping the gain and master down to keep the overall volume low but I guess I'll try cranking those up a bit and using the output more for controlling volume.

What are you using for your headphone transmitter? Also want to say your videos are awesome - I’m learning so much about the amp. Keep ‘em coming!

I’m not using a headphone transmitter. What you’re seeing in the video is my Getaria 5Ghz wireless guitar system. Thanks for the comments!

Speaking of Help. When I use the looper on Spark, on playback it sounds muffled?
Like someone talking to you from another room through a wall. The recording loop circle ⭕ is fuzzy or jagged.

    Most EXCELLENT video.
One question. Is that ANY way, say in a given effects chain to replace an effect with a different effect? For example instead of the Noise Gate at the front, you wanted the Graphic EQ?
And for that matter, can you build an effects chain from scratch with whatever effects (pedals) and amp you want in any order?
    TIA.

Very informative. How do you know where the "sweet spot" is. The hardest part to me is not what they do but how you should be setting them. You are probably going to tell me you can hear the "sweet spot" but it is sometimes hard for some of us. Also with the RB-101 what is typical for that amp as far as being very clean or distorted. So I think you should maybe include amp choice as part of this discussion. Very good explanations though.

It is a matter of taste and will change based on your guitar and the rest of your settings. The tone cloud exists to try and get specific tones.

what amp setting you had during the demo on the hardware? Hi-Gain? or Clean?

  • @thefilthygringo9228

Gain amplifies the guitar signal into the pre amp.and you can drive the pre amp section.

Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful. I'm finding though when I use the Spark to record into Ableton, I get a rather thin weak recorded signal, even after adjusting the Gain and Master on the Spark. The input signal strength seems OK on Ableton is fine so scratching my head a bit here. If I use my own Mesa amp into a Zoom interface, it works perfectly without having to adjust anything on Ableton. Any ideas?

I noticed that a bit too (studioone for me) and I think I just increased the input gain in the software. It’s been a while though.

By the way, the amp model he is using in this video is meant to emulate the Bogner ecstasy.

So annoying the volume goes back up really loud EVERY TIME you change amps. Seems to drastically change the outputs. Drops sound or sustain completely on some presets if you try and adjust outputs. Loud or nothing basically. Sucks when you are trying out the different presets to see what you like and are constantly fiddling with volume controls. Don't know how you could use this in a gig situation. Touch one control knob and its F,*#"s everything up. And why doesn't my Spark '40 Glassy' hardware preset not even show up on Hardware list ? I'm starting to hate this amp.

Whenever I turn my output over 3 the right speaker buzzes pretty bad. Could that be my fault for having the gain to high or something, or do I more likely have a bad speaker?

    • @sparkamptutorials2169
      @sparkamptutorials2169  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Probably a bad speaker, I don’t think that is something you could be doing. I take it you don’t have that problem with headphones?

If you are just playing and not recording or mixing I suspect that Master and Output both have the same effect (straight volume control). But if you are playing along with something else then Master will control your volume relative to the band, whereas Output will control the whole bands volume (yours included).
