Whats all this molesting her sister about! Ive read her book and what I think people are referring to is when she was like 5 and looked at her sisters vagina or when she and her sister used to sleep in the same bed when she was younger and she touched her own vagina. Come one people, seriously... she was like 5 when all this happened and she was curious about her body, its not like she was going around sexually touching her sister. Kids are curious, she didn't have a sense of what she was doing. I honestly think its so harmless, and to call her a child molester is ridiculous.
I think people want something legitimate to dislike her for and so they cling to that. The only other people I see hating her are either guys who hate her because she's a feminist, or other feminists who seem to hate her because she's not feminist enough or something, neither of which seem very solid.

I wanted to post this under the video from the New Yorker Festival interview with Lena, but the channel disabled it's comments; most likely due to the onslaught of disgusting, despicable comments that were/are being left under anything related to the young woman. Hateful, jealous, insecure, narrow minded idiots who can't stand the fact that she had the confidence to create a raw, authentic, intriguing & brilliant tv show, baring her soul and body to the world.

What’s wrong with her saying she doesn’t feel comfortable driving? She has a right to say that. My 87 yr old mother was a solo airplane pilot but hates driving cars. Perhaps you can tell her what she is doing wrong? You’re a joke.

I find it so abusive and frightening how ignorant many people. It’s as though people make negative comments because it’s a trend for those who don’t have a life and can’t think for themselves. I thought he was being rather agressive in his flirtation and although had fun with it for a bit, handled with class. That’s all :-) .

Long rant as to why I think HBO GIRLS is setting the progressive movement back.
I just finished HBO GIRLS and realized that Lena Dunham is a genius!!!! She pretends like her stupid show has value and is deep and symbolic and thematic when it's actually just a waste of people's time and money.
In reality, all I learned from this show is that Lena Dunham stereotypes her own gender race and socioeconomic status and generalizes her personal experience as that of all unconventional young people who grew up with affluence (like myself). She uses things in her uninteresting life as universal truths while desperately trying to be a hipster. Also the constant shock value sex is not realistic.
I am beyond proud to say that I am nothing like Lena Dunham, and am beyond pissed that her "Gay Best Friend/ handbag" on the show, Elijah, literally fits every single gay male stereotype that most gay men I know struggle with since we are so heavily stereotyped by the media. Lena Dunham should have had a show dedicated to showing that Elijah is more than a collection of gay male stereotypes, but an actual person. But would that serve Lena Dunham's ego, nope it would not.
I love Jessa (Jemima Kirke) so much because we have similar world views, but Lena Dunham has set our generation back a lot by writing characters of color and character who are gay that literally fit every stereotype in the book. It's not sattire, it's naivitie and it's disgusting.
So many gay men don't want to come out of the closet because they only see one kind of gay man on television (essentially Elijah on the show). I don't know any gay men that fit every stereotype that Lena Dunham throws on us; and we are already so heavily stereotyped, people constantly make assumptions about us.
Lena Dunham, you have not set us forward, you have set us back. And I hope you stop trying to be a progressive because you are not. I hope you stop foolishly using your celebrity status to pretend like you're helping people. You are dehumanizing them and hurting them by stereotyping them this bad.
I have never identified with a character more I. That I have faults. I live with anxiety and she makes me feel calm and understood. She wrote a character with many faults. She is not the only one I charge of casting and she has co writers. Why do you put all the blame on one writer? She also acted and directed. Do you know how hard that is to do in her early 20s? She has apologized and heard the criticism. She has made Herculean efforts to apologize and make changes accordingly. You all sound like mindless lemmings. It’s so boring.
