Jesus. Isaiah is damn strong for only a year of lifting. Crazy! Keep it up.

Thank you. I'm really happy with my early deadlift gains but ngl overall I'm pretty poverty rn. Best bench is 275, best squat is 385. Even the deadlift as happy as I am to be on track is a bit laggy, probably due to doing everything wrong technically. I'd pulled 495 after 4 months of powerlifting so it's a bit tough how much things slowed down. At a point my squat was even my best improving lift and well it basically went up 20lbs in 3 months which is cool but🫠.....I'm so far behind everybody and I'm heavy 😭

That keyboard is literally lit. I heard it increases your lifts by at least %5 across all 3 lifts.

Loooove Dani's bracing tips - tried it, & was very good for me! Thanks!!😁

That last lifter should also either put shoes on or deadlift somewhere that's not a polished wood floor. Accident waiting to happen, and he'd be able to dial in his 'push the floor' way better if his body wasn't unconsciously preparing to slide around.

100%! That slippery floor plus socks combo is extreme disadvantage.

Thank you. I think the filter was catching something in my previous comment. I definitely don't think about pulling slack. Basically just brace, reach down and stand up while trying to keep my knees forward as long as possible. Honestly, it's still not exactly clear to me how I'd do it without completely changing my "dynamic approach". The head position definitely is something I'll have to try to be conscious off and the retraction of the scapula, I never realized I was doing that. I try to consciously cue an upper back round and protracted scapula with depressed lats as i reach down to the bar but I guess I basically lose it as I actually start the pull.
This pull was after a PR squat double and a PR pull with 505, about 6 minutes before. I was honestly not even expecting to get permission to attempt 520 😅. Unfortunately I'm 23 and don't plan to compete until next year so no junior days for me. Rn it really doesn't make sense cause my pull is middle of the pack in local comps for my weight and that's clearly my best lift atp.
Side side note I made the mistake of forcing mother to watch worlds and sheffield with me. Now nothing passes 😅.

Heya, just wanted to throw in a lil food for thought, re competing before you think you're "ready"... doing the lifts you train at the gym in a comp setting can feel very different because a comp is a whole other vibe, and simply executing well in competition is, itself, a skill... it may be a good idea to start getting "comp reps" in earlier to build proficiency at that aspect of your sport, as well as getting monstrously strong. Never underestimate the impact of headspace - I wish I'd practiced competing earlier. 🙂

@user-lguqrux that's fair. I'd asked my coach about it but he said it's not worth it atp for me to throw off my momentum especially since I don't have the best recovery so doing an unnecessary peak would be a bad idea. As much as I'm antsy to progress faster and change things technically, training has actually been moving very well so priority is really just on getting stronger, build muscle and getting in reps with my technique.....I say while changing my technique on all 3 lifts this week (coachman wasn't exactly happy).

After that poor lifter died squatting a year ago with that ridiculous "behind spotter" position - why are people still doing this? He had the safety bars in position - no need to put someone in serious danger by having them stand in a compromised position so directly behind you.

Question, I’m seeing a lot of younger lifters placing their belt very high on the torso, essentially covering their bottom ribs. While there’s definitely variation of where a belt is useful/comfortable….. would it not hinder a bit of bracing if you’re restricting expansion of the diaphragm and taking the belt off the obliques for bracing?

Am I crazy or did it look like Cole was potentially ramping and had soft knees at the top of his deadlift.
