After a few years of almost daily use my Wenger's back springs seemed to weaken and the blades wouldn't snap closed, tossed it and got a Victorinox Super Tinker, been edc'ing it for the past 7 years and never had any issues with it.

I really like that Wenger can opener. It's great for peeling oranges and cutting the foil around the opening of a wine bottle too.

The Wenger scissors look almost identical to those on the Bokerplus Techtool and the Bokerplus Atlas. Very good and I haven't had any issues with gumming, but initially the fact that both blades move when operating them is a bit disconcerting, not good for trimming errant nose hairs.

I carried Huntsman for years, then switched to Craftsman last year (i liked the pliers). Well, the pliers are too weak, and they add too much weight. I have Explorer, but then... I'll miss the file. Unfortunatelly, I found last week on the trip I couldn't open the bottle of wine with Craftsman (no corkscrew), and action of the philips screwdriver on the back is poor. I often use can opener as screwdriver on M6 screws used in server racks, it works great, only wish it could lock. And, I wear glasses, so that tiny screwdriver in the corkscrew could have some action, too! Maybe I should find the discontinued Modeler that has magnifying glass, metal saw and inline philips driver. For the pliers, I just bought Knipex Cobra XS! Much stronger.

Use the can opener to open wine.

Great comparison! The fieldmaster is one of my favorites, probably gets the most carry time out of all my swiss army knives. Cheers, buddy.

Honestly you had to pick the Wenger the victorinox is waaaaaaaay better if you were in a survival situation with the Wenger you would die if you were with the victorinox you would survive forever

My Wenger saw looks like the Victorinox one here. Opens the same way too, no nail groove.

I have a Wenger inscribed with "Multi-Band Multi-Mission Multi-Mode Multi-Service" and "AN/PRC-117" and a logo with the letter H with waves going thru the H. Do you have any knowledge on this model? The closest I can find is the Victorinox Tinker 3.25". It's black. Thank you.

On both, Victorinox and Wenger, I do not get why the screw driver opens perpendicular to the scale instead in line with it. For me, depending on the position of screw, using the swiss knife is not that ergonomic, to say it somehow.

Great video I have to with the field master because I own one 😀😁 I don't carry it much because it's a kind of bulki unless I know for sure I'm going to use it

Nice video. Two points: The penblade of thr Vic is great for carving. So if you are not into that your for shure better of with the nailfile. But if you wnt to do some more prcise carvjng you want that penblade. The other thing are the awls. I find the Wenger awl more as akind of a marlin spike, while the Vic awl is rally for drilling small holes into wood or other materials. So again a question of the needs the potential user has. The hole in the awl for sewing is useless i think. At least for fine tasks. I carry a Vic farmer plus, it is a little slicker than the Huntsmann or the fieldmaster and the backsprings are a little stronger. Or I carry an 1955 swiss soldiers knife which is really great even with the less tools it has and the springs are so strong. It nearly feels like a lockback.

I find the screen flashing near the end of your title graphic unpleasant. When you next update it, you might want to try a different transition.

The wenger scissors is a lot better. It will last for decades after the victorinox lost or broke the flimsy feather.

I never knew that the cap-lifter pressed in & locked! I checked it on my Wenger “Backpacker” & it works.
I’ve got to start carrying my “Fieldmaster” again…I made a leather sheath for it, but I barely ever carry it. It’s just a little too bulky to be convenient in the pocket. I find my “Backpacker” easier to carry when camping/hiking. Plus I’m prepared to open a bottle of wine should I come across one in the woods…

Corkscrew is great for untieing knots, and can hold that small glasses screwdriver or those Firefly firesteel bits. There's not much use for philips screwdriver when hiking.... you have can opener for that!
