Made your recipe two days ago, making it again this morning after a hike. I decided to caramelize the bell peppers with some shallots and jalapeños and it turned out amazing.
@@eddyk1511 it’s garlic, but he calls it heartburn lol. The salt acts as an abrasive to get it down to that consistency but regular mined garlic (or garlic powder) can be substitutes.

Same as the Libyan shakshuka…lots and lots of onions, no sweet peppers but chillis and fresh tomatoes seasoned with a bit of turmeric and some dried meat (gideed).
He is right. Onions do not add anything to a Shakchouka other than a caramelised taste. Yikes, does not go well with runny eggs. People who like onions in their Shakchouka, had a mum that could not cook.

Yes! Finally someone says it - onions don't belong in shakshuka. And my little tip is you can add harissa before adding the tomatoes, it takes it up a level
Saw you as a host on an episode of Supermarket stakeout, from 2022. That was pretty neat, I had a sense of pride because I watch you on TH-cam. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
This is the first shakshuka recipe I’ve ever seen without onions or garlic. I’m not saying it’s bad, but I thought those were essential to a good shakshuka. I use onions, garlic, and sometimes even leftover potatoes that have been diced.
I did shakshouka this morning for the first time and my family basically scooped the pan clean with the bread now my parents are gonna start making their own and adding different condiments for different tastes but it was literally chefs kiss 🤌🏼
My mom makes this for me every week! It's super delicious, she adds both cheese and onions though. Also, we don't eat it with Pita bread,Roti, or Paratha, we simply eat it with some warm rice, always hits the spot
I’m Somali we make Shakshuuka the same way but My Mom actually Scrambles it… I know it isn’t the original way but it actually taste 100x better all mixed up as Scrambled Eggs TRUST!! I’ve grew up on both my whole life!! With Malawax and Shaah too omg🤤😩crepe like bread best breakfast ever!!
I still haven't tried it but can definitely tell it's a great dish as Arabs, North African people love it so much. Have seen Palestinians also making it without the cheese
I have made shakshuka. Traditionally you add fava beans as well but that is your choice to add any type of beans or not. After that it is your show. Add whatever you think makes your shakshuka flavor pop. This is definitely the best breakfast in the world.
That cheese is actually a good idea. I think i got some grated pizza cheese left. Tomorrow it's shakshuka for breakfast i guess. With onions and chillies ;)
