I've been following the 5 door since launch in India and been waiting eagerly to arrive in SA. Traded in my Mazda cx5 for granite grey GLX Auto. And received mine 6 days ago. It takes a while to get used to the power difference as my cx5 was a 2litre, but then again that's not what I'm looking for. The Jimny is a much better ride I dnt even feel speed bumps better fuel consumption that just after 6 days. Did some light offroading and it's more than capable. So many accessories available and it's such a joy to drive. The 5 door is more stable in windy conditions than the 3 door. And I could easily do 120 to 130 km/h. I can't wait to do adventure trips to Drakensberg next year. Thanks so much to Hampsons Suzuki for getting this into my hands a day early 🎉

Plenty of turbo and supercharger kits for the jimny. Unfortunately it would void the warrenty on the engine, but even a basic turbo without changing any engine internals will give it upwards of 150kw
Not designed for long distance desert trips like a landcruiser, more a farm vehicle, tiny little engine cant handle any sort of heavy load so this is silly, perfect for a small trip in rugged terrain, very capable and lightweight

In india there was hype till the day it was launched and good number of pre bookings were done, and once the price was announced, everything vapoured out, and bookings got cancelled, they overpriced the jimny and it was dead on arrival in india, don't know how it is in SA

i think they sould put AGS transmission insted a regular automatic transmission in that 5 doors version. the body of 5 door jimny is more heavier than its 3 door little Brother and also regular automatic transmission is more heavier too i think it wolud be better to use AGS. to solve the weight ratio isue in 5 doors version cut the weight in transmission would be a brilliant Idea.

I would buy this only with a stronger engine - this is the no 1 dealbreaker. Then I would like IFS - no 2 very nice to have and no 3 - a lower price. Dacia Duster is cheaper but more capable onroad and offroad so the price must be much lower to compete against the Duster.

In my opinion, I can't say I like the gen 4 body design. I still prefer the gen 3 look. There's a reason why Brazil kept building the gen 3 jimny until the the new government policy made them unable to do so. It's because the gen 3 looks better, at least for me. I really hope suzuki brings back the gen 3 body design. For reference, the Jimny 4Sport Forest looks way better than the latest jimny.. Comment below if you agree!

I like the Long Body Jimny! ! This is not possible here in Europe due to the crappy emissions environmental policy. We have a government that just does shit without asking people if we want it. They want to sell us their stupid electric cars. Many are against it... I have my Jimny FJ... we only had a Jimny GJ built for a short time, then delivery was stopped due to an Abgsa problem... then the HJ (commercial vehicle) came 2 years later. . . . . . . . . . . Here, too, it was only built as a second single-seater. The reason was a tax trick so that it could continue to be sold as a commercial vehicle. Instead of GJ, we just call it HJ (as a commercial vehicle). However, HJ costs 30,000 EURO and doesn't even have a navigation system! When the GJ came onto the market 4 years ago, it only cost 19,000 euros and had many extras such as alloy wheels, navigation, etc. I maintain my Jimny FJ all the time...it's affordable and easy to repair!
There are already truckloads of 4 doors for sale due to being underpowered. I'd be very surprised if this car is not a total flop, especially the auto. It needs a rethink engine wise at the very least.
K15b It's the bigger and most powerful engine since 1970..... If you don't count the spanish samurai made in Santana, With 1.9 turbodiesel Peugeot 63hp, and N/A Renault 1.9 diesel With 64hp, also the Jimny 3 got 1.5 turbodiesel Renault With 80 some hp
@salvador_mano4x4 that was a basic na diesel. We are talking about a 2.0 turbo diesel to be mounted longitudinally inside the tiny engine bay of the jimny
Don’t think this produces enough power for the size. It’s a pitty cause it’s an awesome mini g wagon. Perhaps you get some aftermarket performance parts to make it worthwhile, and it definitely needs fatter tires to fit the frame/wheel arches better.
Totally agree, I own a 3 door myself and you can really feel the extra weight of gear on it, tbh would never think of fitting it with something as a front bumper. It is a very nice car but it is very limited, 5 doors will just exaggerate that.
Don't know why many negative comments here. Suzuki Jimny is an awesome small off-road vehicle, which had gained cult popularity status in India, Hungary and UK in it's previous and current Avatar. I think this is an excellent and capable off roader and is fully suitable to the entire African continent.🎉 🎉🎉🎉
This 5 door Jimny has flopped in India. This has axle wrapping issues with sluggish engine. The Manual gear level vibrates as if it were a diesel engine ..
It is a flop in India because of the price they have launched here in India. I also booked but had to cancel due to an unjustified price. Also in India people find it too small. They have not changed anything in engine area, it is same as it was in the 3 door

Regarding sales figures, it never was about volumes just like the Gypsy & as I said it will be used by specific audience e.g. Defense/Security Forces, adventure lovers, 2nd car owners. With its upgraded features can also use for daily driving by small families. Finally, it is globally recognised as a strong vehicle for city & outdoor life esp. in the West. It was World Car of the Year 2019 in urban & design category. Also Good Design Gold award 2018.

its not there in any developed countries because its made soo poorly and has zero structural strength, wait for the ncap rating to come and then buy, Im sure like every product of suzuki in india this will recieve zero star rating. I have seen one accident where the roof and doors peeled off and got stuck on to the mahindra pickup in kerala, the guy drove died on the spot. lets see how long they will let me keep this comment,
