Sub looks small and toyish on even a large man’s wrist. I’m a legit XXL guy and a a sub looks comically delicate and small on my wrist/forearms. I was a 400lbs bencher as a college student all natural and am6ft even for reference.
@@OhioVworldhow’s the thickness? I have bigger than average wrists, not huge. I tried one on and the diameter was perfect. I just worry about it being too thick to be comfortable for an extended time. My AD offered me one yesterday and I’m still thinking about it.
@@edx21x Honestly, I wear long sleeve dress shirts ~10 X a yr, if that, so I might not be that attuned to that, but it looked just right on my wrist. The deep sea is much thicker eye balling it.
Great video. I was especially concerned about the depth/height of the caseback. I have seen in Rolexforums that some people complain that the extended caseback hurts their wrists. You had some good shots of how it sits on the wrist. You can see that the caseback is high. I have to imagine that if you wear it as a daily you would get used to it. Did anyone notice this?
You are completely right: I bought this watch and sold it after a month of ownership. The reason is precisely what you described: The back case is ridiculously high and it doesn’t let the watch to sit properly on the wrist, and it’s very uncomfortable and feels top heavy. I sold it and got a Sub Ceramic 41mm, and the difference it’s night and day. Even the (bigger) DeepSea James Cameron sits much flatter on the wrist and it’s more comfortable to wear is you have the wrist to pull it.
No. No difference in bracelet. There is even no diff at all next to the missing little crown on the 6 on the MK1. We have layed both together MK1 / MK2 an the diff of a slight less glossy dial we could not see any difference. And as soon as you start using a cyclops to find diffs it starts gettin overdone.
Good review. In general, wasn‘t it THE SD we have all been waiting for? Never wanted a SD without cyclops bc. it reminded me as a Subby without date. . It has red letters, and its a bit bigger and still nice to wear if U have no tiny wrist. In this times no one can tell if they go up or down , but if Rolex takes the watch out of the catalogue , I am pretty sure they get highly desirable
Tritium isn't dangerous. Radium is. Tritium lume loses it's luminescence over time, that's why it was replace with Luminova. Also, I hate that video clip of divers touching coral. Do not touch sea life. It's there to be observed, not touched.
The sub it’s an icon but once you see an SD43 then the sub looks boring
I can’t believe the sub is priced anywhere near $8k after trying on and buying the SD43.
Absolutely true!

Is that cyclops lens glued onto the crystal?
Yes, it is!

It’s a comfortable watch from my experience. Glad the video helped, thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍

Totally disagree. Sits great and it means the case sides are thin. And so the watch appears thinner than it actually is.
Very well done. Now I need to see it on my wrist!
Perfection unnoticed!
🙏
Is there any difference between the bracelet size of Mk1 vs Mk2 ?

The best Rolex to buy.

Just got mine. Incredible but they all don’t have the wet suit extension. You said mine was taken out, well mine didn’t come with one. Yes from a AD.
It’s my first Rolex. I’ve got it from AD with luck because I have no purchase history with them before
That’s a great first Rolex! Enjoy!
I have this exact watch. It's my favourite watch. I also live in LDN and you're braver than me to wear it out and about! 😅

Go change your tampon.
Beautiful watch ! But for me the Datejust edges this one out
Datejust. Really. I absolutely hate the datejust. I’d rather have an OP or explorer I all day long.
@@mendipfox1650 Yes really
Datejust and Sea-Dweller are so different would be a hard choice choosing only one to keep!
completely different watches. strange comparison. datejust v sky dweller maybe
Not a 50th anniversary SD 43 -mk1, but just a Sea-Dweller SD 43 - mk2.
Same but different, depending who you ask
I would swap my Mk2 for a Mk1, but is the bracelet exactly the same ?
I am so happy I passed on the Mk1 and waited for the upgraded Mk2 model. The improvements are worth the wait.
