Things from A24 like Hereditary or even Midsommar are really creepy in my opinion. Although you would classify it as more a thriller
Hereditary for sure
"based on a true story" is a way you can get all westerners to watch something, cause we are terrified of reality more than anything lmaoo
For real

I’m the opposite lmao if it’s based on a true story that just makes me think it could happen to me and I won’t want to watch it

My mom told me that The Exorcist was the first and the last time she ever watched a horror movie in a theater. When the girl went backwards down the stairs and appeared to head straight for the camera, my mom was done.
D. O. N. E.
She was out of that theater in seconds.
Shittt i would've too
Watched it in a dark room with one of my cousins during midnight. Guess theatre experiences are far different, cuz I wasn't really scared in our room.
afaik they actually removed that scene because it gave people panic attacks, then put it back in for the director's cut version later on.
@@Pickleton it was never in the 1973 release. people are Mandela effect if they think it was there. Hell the director for years stated he didn't think it was filmed till someone found it in the Warner archives in the mid 90s
The Exorcist wasn't scary at all, just like most western horror films.
The conjuring is so scary, I feel like that one scene didn’t do them justice. Mabye should’ve used the one with the mom getting possessed or the one with the mom on top of the stairs in the basement. 🤷♀️
I remember one scene from the end (mom was possessed) that actually made me jump lmao why did they choose the scene where...literally nothing happened?😭 i love the conjuring smh
DummyDummy right, so many good scenes they could’ve chose from
The conjuring is literally one of the best horror movies out there😩
My favorite scene is when the daughter gets pulled out of bed.
It’s one of my favorite horror films just because it actually scares me. It was SO good.
You should have used that iconic scene in Insidious when the shadow in the corner of the kids bedroom points at the kid when the lady asks "What do you want?" THAT SHIT IS SCARY
Fr especially when the dad is back too his house going through his child hood house that shit scared me
Right ! Thats scene was hella scary.
now i’m sad bc they literally chose no actual scary parts for western movies😭 the only one was annabelle (which was...comical) i was so hyped lmao
Or the scene when the parents and the psychic are speaking and the demon appears beside them, freaks me out every time.
Thank god they didn’t put insidious because I could barely sleep for while after watching the movie.Insidious 1 was for sure the most scariest horror movie i’ve seen in my whole entire life.
A quien más no le dan nada de miedo las de terror coreanas? Xd en lo personal me causan algo de gracia, no se si estos lo están exagerando
Xdos Jsjsjs no dan miedo

Si dan risa xd

crei que era la unica que pensaba eso de las peliculas coreanas
for the conjuring they should’ve chose the scene where the witch was on top of the dresser and jumps down onto the girl. and is attacking her. THAT CRAP WAS SCARY AS HELL.
When i watch that scene...i just came out with no expression but at the end,it gives a bad nightmare😂
Nah, they should've done the conjuring 2 when the dog turned into the crooked man and came down the hallway
YESSS OMG THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!

The ghosts in western movies are scary but storyline is crap. The ghosts in far east aren't scary but the storyline is scary
we just need a collabariation of the two

movie: based on a true story
me: *aight I’m out-*
I'm a horror movie fan and one thing I've noticed in all cultures, in horror movies:
we humans, as a race, are weirdly obsessed with young, fairly attractive, long&black-haired women dressed in white.
I think it’s probably bc of the contrast. The white dress starkly contrasts the (usually) black/dark brown hair, so when it’s dark during the scene, you can still see the ghost by the glow of the white gown but it’s made creepier due to the long dark hair covering the ghost’s face.
No one believes me but I once saw a girl that I'm pretty sure was a ghost... It was in my own home and she was like this:
Long hair white dress eyes with black circles and no clear expression.
I was 11 or 12 and I was terrified. She stood there watching me for about 20 minutes and then she waved to me and left... This happened between 12:30 or 1:00am
I was really scared and since then I'm always afraid to see her again at night
Giuliana Salazar Fernandez Girl, that it completely terrifying. Glad to know that she wasn’t a restless spirit, she probably just wanted to play around with you.
It's cuz the contrast is haunting.
It loops our eyes looking for color where there isnt any. Also easier for them to hide...
@@jae135 thank you :'D It was terryfing and the worst part I know it was not a dream because I could move the entire time and even woke up my cousin and brother because I couldn't take it anymore... Never saw her again but after that event sometimes my lights turn on or off by itself

Horror: hereditary
Thriller: "invisible man" (2019) and "Bad Samaritan"
This was more about "horror films" than "ghost films" because "It" and "The Exorcist" aren't about ghosts, if you want Western films that are specifically about ghosts then I would recommend the following...

Poltergeist
The Sixth Sense

There is a huge and noticeable contrast, indeed. Western horror is more materialism-oriented, their subjects are often more grounded in reality or hugely inspired by frightening real-life phenomena (dangerous animals, natural disasters, serial killers, science gone wrong, killer robots, aliens, etc), while Eastern horror is more spirituality-oriented and explores the domain of the mystical/supernatural.

The green-ish (nightvision?) one in the hospital was pretty cool. But, yeah a random lady in a white dress isn't very scary on it's own. Maybe the sounds they mentioned (mumbling, groaning, etc.) make it scarier and they just don't come across well in a YT video?
It was funny to me idk why
Massive lack of cultural context. If you understood what ghost women mean/represent in Asian cultures, you would have had a different reaction. Also, we Asians believe that these long-haired, white-gown ladies actually exist and live out our everyday life with this deeply ingrained spiritual belief at the back of our minds.
To Westerners, they are just random dead women. To Asians, they're a very familiar and "real" horror figure that has been used to scare us ever since childhood.
"Why do people watch horror movies!?"
To answer that question, we are dead inside. : )
My favorite type of movie is horror. The jump scares usually get me and I find myself covering my eyes with my hands and peeking. The anticipation!!! And then there are some movies where I still think about the monster from time to time and creep myself out. One such entity is the nun... She still haunts me! 😱
Fun video. People are always going to argue about selection, this vs that movie, but The Shining definitely deserves a spot here.
Why is IT included in this? IT is something like an alien, not a ghost...
"it" is a shapeshifting demon
@@biggiecheethe actually its an alien
@@biggiecheethe but can you call a "demon" a ghost? I think those two are separate genre's.
Same goas with the Exorcist and The Priests, demon possessed people and not ghosts

I love scary movies, they’re fun to watch w/ friends, it can be scary watching by yourself even though I still do. It gets a bit boring watching romance movies all the time
ITS HALLOWEEN SEASON again i hope they react to more scary stuff.... @3:41 also the guy literally dying is still so funny I rewatch this video just for that reaction
"Why do people watch horror movies"
Me: Who literally signed up for our horror class in college, where we just watched different movies every class and discussed them.
Also me: Who did my senior thesis about horror movies.
ohhh I wish I could join ~~
That's actually really cool.
wait thats soo cool its soo hard for me too find people who actualy enjoy horror movies all my friends are scared of everything XD
Wow what a cool class. I wish my college offered something like that when I was a student
@@amrlreader I went to an art school so this was one of the film classes. It also counted as a history class so I took this and an avant garde film class! For a regular college its probably rare or not offered.
When he talked about wasabi, I laughed just like the guy next to him😂
Me daba más miedo los gritos que se tiraban las chicas, encerio dan miedo, en lo personal amo el terror.
me: laughing at their reaction
also me: covering the horror scenes with my hand *nervous sweat*
Same hahahaha
8:03 CUANDO EL MAN DE EN MEDIO HACE LA CRUZ CON SUS DEDOS WEEE NO PUEDO JAJAJAJAJAJA
I laughed so hard when he said “wasabi is coming out of her mouth” lmfao
Is it bad that I started laughing when she combed her hair 😂
I was not scared in any of them but in the Annabelle I almost cried😢 still want to cry tho.
I don’t get why this channel doesn’t have over 300,000 subscribers?! It’s so good
Should have showed one of the scenes from “Lights Out” idk what it was about that movie wasn’t even that good but it took me a few days to watch it cause I had to keep pausing it and taking mental breaks
I- they choose very poor unscary movies for the us and the Korean movies weren't scary to me Shi I'm only 13
Y’all should’ve thrown in woman in black and insidious🤣insidious is my all time favorite it’s really scary and the story line is good
I love Insidious!
annabelle and the conjuring..still my fav for ghost movies...also the nun..And insidious..🥰
if your making a part two pls choose horrors that people actually watch, none of them films are scary and they were filmed far too long ago
i agree but theyre also classics
You should make a part 2 of this and use some modern us movies.Like the new IT movie
How about Insidious
@@oikawanolongerposting6086 yes!
@@oikawanolongerposting6086 maybe we can also add the nun
I thought the new IT movie was funny. It was mostly comedy instead of horror.
@@oikawanolongerposting6086 Insidious would be great!
See how they looks at both movies differently?
Western mostly makes their horror film through "Demon-like or Devil"
Eastern more to "Stray Dark Soul, or Vengeful Spirit"
That's why one side have a scary-looking character but lack effect of story and one scary-looking story but lack effect of character.
I think it is extremely hard to make a really good horror film now a days. Lots of people have been growing up with horror movies since way back and over the years I feel like everyone has been desensitized. Plus the technique and delivery of the scare and horror has expanded and used so much. Right now i noticed horror movies that do really well, have loosely been based off of true stories lately.
I don't know why, but instead of being scared, I couldn't stop laughing, I was very funny, I think it's his reactions hahahaha
I recommend OSSC to watch :
1. Paranormal Activity
2. Afflicted
3. Wer
These are not extreme and over-the-top, but based on the level of bravery I just witnessed these are a good start lol.
The IT one was kinda disappointing. They should've used the recent IT movies instead.
those arent that scary either. mostly just jump scares. They should have used Alien, that is a good scary movie even if it is also sci fi
@@nicholasbrown4109 A lot of American horror movies nowadays rely heavily on jump scares. I don't think this trend is going to change anytime soon.
Yeah thats what I was thinking.
@@Rezzmari a new movie came out recently called Relic. I watched it the other night and it had no jumpscares, then again it wasnt' that scary more like eerie.
no they shoudl have used a 90s or 80s movie called "killer clowns from Outer space" that shit is liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!
