Headless Horseman - The Headless Horseman is a mythical figure who has appeared in folklore around the world since the Middle Ages. The figure is traditionally depicted as a man upon horseback who is missing his head. Examples include the dullahan from Ireland and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," a short story written in 1820 by American Washington Irving. Blood Mary - Bloody Mary is a legend consisting of a ghost, phantom, or spirit conjured in a mirror when her name is chanted repeatedly. Most agree the name comes from the monkier Queen Mary the 1st of England earned during her reign for her prosecution of protestants. Banshee - a female spirit in Irish folklore who heralds the death of a family member, usually by wailing, shrieking, or keening. Her name is connected to the mythologically important tumuli or "mounds" that dot the Irish countryside, which are known as síde (singular síd) in Old Irish. Most, though not all, surnames associated with banshees have the Ó or Mc/Mac prefix - that is, surnames of Goidelic origin, indicating a family native to the Insular Celtic lands rather than those of the Norse, English, or Norman. Accounts reach as far back as 1380 to the publication of the Cathreim Thoirdhealbhaigh (Triumphs of Torlough) by Sean mac Craith. Mentions of banshees can also be found in Norman literature of that time.
TriXJester it's said that the the headless horseman actually originated in Irish folklore. A fae spirit called a dullahan(meaning "without a head""). The myth changes sometimes. It's usually man but sometimes female, and it's weapon is often a whip made from a human spine. While the banshee is a messenger of death, the dullahan is the bringer. If it's stops for you or calls your name from its served head it meant you're next to die
It's interesting to see how the US changed banshees. Here, it's if you hear a banshee scream, you have to cover your ears because they'll scream loud enough to kill you. Headless horseman is a classic, we'd do projects with it as kids. The headless horseman took a jack o lantern to hide his missing head, and if you asked him where his head was, he'd try to take yours instead. If you were polite and didn't point it out though, you should be fine. Bloody Mary was based off of the queen Mary of England, because she killed many protestants. But then the nickname "bloody mary" was given a ghost story. Mary was a witch in the woods, and was very powerful. People hunted her down, even though she didn't do anything wrong and only helped people, and burned her at the stake. Last second, her soul left and hid in a mirror. She can only leave the mirror realm when summoned, by saying "bloody Mary" 3 times out loud. It's best to have the lights off and candles lit, because when the candles blow out, you'll know she's there. She then either takes you into the mirror realm or kills you trying.
@@Pudding--_-- it was a dare among friends, everyone did it for peer pressure. Although there were rumors that she could also help you out in life. Like, if you did what she wanted, she could get rid of a problem for you sort of thing

Bloody Mary is more like a game teens and kids play than a story. It became popular around the time of creepy pastas, and you go in the bathroom in front of the mirror, say her name 3 times with the lights off. Kids in my school would do it in the bathroom and tell all their friends about how “the lights flickered!” And bluff.
LMAO when you said they cant say bloody mary 3 times and the girls freaked out 😂😂 honestly where i’m from (Malaysia/Singapore), the indonesian word Pontianak cant be said, if you say the word, she hears you and comes for you.
Supernatural taught us how to get rid of Bloody Mary. Cakewalk. Also, I don’t know the serious side to Ghost Stories. I was so confused when that popped up.
I don't really know a whole lot about the lore of Bloody Mary, but when I was in elementary school the story was that she was a young girl who fell sick and into a coma. Her parents held out hope that she was alive but were ultimately told she was probably dead, so they buried her in the backyard with a bell on a string tied to her wrist (if she woke up and moved, they'd know because they would hear the bell). Unfortunately, that night a huge storm came through their town and they weren't able to hear the bell ringing with all the noise. A few days later, the parents went to check on her, to see if her state had changed and they opened the casket to find her dead body with bloody fingernails. She had tried scratching her way out the entire night, thus the name Bloody Mary. Basically, if you turn out the lights in a bathroom and spin around while saying her name three times, she's supposed to show up in the mirror the third time. I don't know what the point of it is.
It'd be cool if yous would of given them more back stories on the ghosts. e.g. Banshee's come about when you find a comb on the street or if you're hanging about the banshee tree. They normally haunt those who has a traditional irish surname but doesn;t mean those who doesn't have one won't be haunted ... something like that with more insights
We have a folklore in my country we call amaranhig.. it's not really a ghost but it's a corpse that mimics voices in the cornfields.. if the voice is loud.. it's far... Then if it's silent, it's right next to you.
Bloody Mary is a dare game we used to play as kids. In a pitch black room (usually a bathroom) you try to summon Bloody Mary by chanting her name 3x while staring in a mirror. It's supposed to be Queen Mary I as that's her nickname. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Mary_(folklore)
The mayority of ghosts in western culture has roots dating back to the most ancient cultures in Europe i.e. Norse, Gothic and Saxon folklore, but also Greek, Celtic and Slavic folklore. And they're formed and shaped by exchanging stories and tell the same stories slightly different everytime over centuries or even millenia. This proves the power of human imagination and that it is not to be taken lightly.
oh but that is even scarier, I would rather have old pagan ways to guard me from evil than lutherans D: I don't know if these myths exists but if I believe in God then why shouldn't I be afraid of those scary phenomenons? Usually they are scientifically explained but not always.
@@MimiMangetsu Telling the stories over and over again could be concidered a form of protection from the unseen or evil forces though... I mean, you told a story, and you survived it. Which, if you didn't, you would not be able to tell the story in the first place. So how much of it is the truth? Really, who cares? You told the story and you shared it, it doesn't have to be 100% true. And the whole purpose of a story is to make people think and talk.
the definition from Wikipedia: A banshee is a female spirit in Irish folklore that heralds the death of a family member, usually by wailing, shrieking, or keening. Her name is connected to the mythologically important tumuli or "mounds" that dot the Irish countryside, which is known as síde in Old Irish.
I want to add, that it would be wonderful if the 4 girls and 3 guys could collectively go on a global trip and react to things "live" in different countries.
It's fascinating how there are many resemblances about these "lady in white" mythos around the globe: 1. Wearing white muddy dress 2. Long dark black hair spread out front without revealing face 3. Mostly encountered around wet places like lakes, rivers, pools, and bath rooms. But, sometimes hanging on the trees. 4. They can be heard weeping, humming, or laughing. 5. Either vengeful or just desire to drive people out from some houses or establishments. 6. The more dangerous ones are those who wearing red.
You guys get into Halloween that's fascinating! It's such a Western holiday. Even my cousins in Barbados (an island in the West Indies) didn't do anything for Halloween until about a decade ago and that was mostly due to faster internet being more available on the island and the globalization the internet has. But it's so anthropologically fascinating to see such an Eastern country actually celebrate it! (Also Korean Succubus for what we normally call 'The Ring Girl' is a totally new thing for me I love knowing where that legend comes from. I did know the movie was originally Japanese I believe, the same with The Grudge. We just take all your good ideas for scary things and then tone them down because you're too scary for Americans! The original is sooooo scary!)
Headless Horseman: "His hair is like croissants" XD Yes it is. (I was born in 1988, 1999 is not old don't tell me things like that! TTATT) I actually live very close to Sleepy Hollow! It's a real town in the state of New York. It's not that scary. I went there to buy knitting supplies once, very nice people. It's one of my personal favorite ghost stories. Bloody Mary: Ah that is a classic, going back very, very far in folktale, I think even to medieval times. The story varies by location but the rule is always that you have to say her name 3 times in the bathroom mirror with the lights off and she will appear. It's just a story but I can guarantee you nobody has ever been brave enough to prove that. Not even me, lol. Banshee: Banshees aren't actually violent. They are ghosts of women who have been betrayed in life and now haunt a building or area and scream and cry really loudly at you. But they don't attack. It was also really fun learning about more Eastern folklore, I'm a folklorist myself so I love studying all the stories. Ghost Stories has...a funny history in America. So the people who were hired to be English voice actors for it in America were given a script that was illegible and none of them spoke Japanese. So they made up the dialogue and a lot of it was REALLY rude! But also funny! It's become kind of a classic for that. As for how they got so much of that to air, it was during a time when channels wanted to just turn out anime because that was the hot new thing and they would never actually watch the shows or read the new scripts so they never actually knew they were airing something so rude!
I think there's multiple names for it, but there's a legendary horse that mysteriously shows up and if anyone sits on it's back they won't be able to get off and the horse will throw itself off a cliff or run into the sea to kill them. I think it's mostly a French legend, I think. Speaking of murder-horses, what about the Nucklavee? It's technically a river spirit and it's terrifying! It's honestly a shame it hasn't gone big on the silver screen.
The headless horseman is actually based on an irish dark fairy called the dullahan and he's actually alot scarier than this. The banshee cries when you die and its him that comes for you in a carriage made of human skin and bones and the candles inside carriage are human fat.
The Bloody Mary story that I grew up with was that Bloody Mary was the ghost of a 19 year old girl who loved a man, she later found out while pregnant with the man's baby, that she (Mary) was the mistress of the mans affair with his real wife. After finding that out, Mary threatened to confront the man's wife about his affair. The man killed her in front of her bathroom mirror, he tore out her eyes and fled. After he left, Mary tried to write the name of the man on her mirror with her blood but only managed 2 or 3 letter before dying of blood loss. Some say they had a suspect and other say they didn't, but her murder went unsolved. Now, if someone were to stand in front of their bathroom mirror, with the lights off and a candle lit, and they spin 3 times while saying her name, she appears in the mirror. If Mary finds them guilty of being associated with a death and are keeping it a secret, she will come through the mirror and rip out your eyes. If none are guilty she will answer one question about the future, but never the past.
With a Banshee the deal is if you hear her someone you know will die but if you see her you're the one who will die. She's not nearly as aggressive as a lot of modern depictions show, she's just creepy and a bad omen.
they should react to the scariest horror games. maybe not playing them but watching a silent gameplay. i recommend scp containment breach, P.T, and cry of fear.
The bloody marry story always scared me bc I was told that she was burried alive on her wedding night by her husband so he could go and marry his side peice, since he only married her for her fortune, and she tore her fingers and nails trying to claw her way out of the coffin but she died before she could from suffocating. So if you call her and your a young girl she'll kill you thinking your the girl who stole her husband.

The lights go off, they turn it back on and they guy has a scratch, then something trying to come through the door and they block it, then after they look out and nothing is there. After that some chairs move. If it makes you feel better it’s just a demon named Toby lmao
I love it when they use old folklore! I watched another movie called “Hole in the Ground” that was also based off of Irish folklore.
PLEASE watch Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor! Look for hidden ghosts!
Yes! It's a classic!
i love MJ, Chacha, Heejin, and Minji, they’re my favorite cast in this channel
I love how 3/4 of them have pretty standard Halloween costumes but Heejin is over here like “Korean Succubus”.
I didn’t even know those were a thing!
If they wanted to show an anime ghost-story, the last few story-arcs of "Ghost Hunt" were particularly good, and actually rather chilling.
When one of them mentioned the drowned woman i immediately thought of the ghost with that name from the Fatal Frame video games. I think Fallen woman or the one in the crawlspace was even scarier!
Their facial expressions is so cute ☺️ when they are scared.
Ahh Sleepy Hollow is my all time favourite film, I’ve watched it too many times! So good!
BTW their name properly spelled is "BEAN SIDHE" in Irish but pronounced "Banshee". It's spelled Ban Sith in Scots (now you know where the Sith came from). The "Sidhe" being Elves and not what we think of as faries. Elves aren't very nice to humans at anytime. They like to steal human babies and children to raise as slaves and servants according to the folklore. In folklore the Bean Sidhe is associated with a particular family and will somehow presage the death of one of it's members.
The headless horseman is also a part of Irish folklore called the dullahan, it would ride with its head in one of its hands and on top of a black horse with a whip made of the human spine, it would also knock on the doors of elderly to warn them of death and splash them with buckets of blood
When a Banshee cries, it means someone is about to die.
Oh, like not even "It's time to go buddy"? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't give South Park any ideas.
I want to see them react to old western singer's like Paul Anka, Elvis Presley, Ben E king, Etta james, Dolly Parton, etc.
Are all of those rock/country singers cause I only know elvis and dolly
@@3nj0y48 I'm not sure what you would describe the other's as.
@@thatoneshlrt_girl3488 I would put Paul Anka into the RnB genre. Like pre Motown RnB.
"LET IT GO!"
"then die!" 😭😭😂😂
I love them !
Headless horseman actually lost his head to cannon fire. He was a Hessian (spelling?) Soldier.. german. Fighting for the Redcoats.
I really need to see them react to the Ghost Stories dub now lol
Fun fact: In germany exists the legend of the "Alb" creature. People were so scared at some point in the past that the german word "Albtraum" ( Alb dream) became the word for nightmare .
These girls should hear about many other american folk lore ghost legends. The Black Aggie is a great start...
Also the wendigo.
@@stphilomena911 That's more of a monster than a ghost, tho.
The woman in white.
@@raven3moon it's still a part of our folklore though.
@@raven3moon the wendigo is actually a spirit who takes over the body of person on the verge of starving to death and makes them cannibalize. Its known throughout the north. Its mostly active in the winter time.
The one your thinking about is probably closer to the skinwalker who is a native american witch turned evil with black magic who can kill and transform itself, albet not always perfect. They are most common in the south west like arizona, NM, etc.
6:18 Ghost Stories lol, us english speaking folks got an entire different take on the show with it's english dub. It ended up being more of a parody show than a scary show.
This video made Halloween 100% better
Sleepy Hollow is one of my all time favorite movies ever since I was a kid 🐴
I actually love this channel so much
I really enjoyed this video but I wish you could've showed la llorona. (A mexican ghost tale)
I can't take ghost stories seriously---- the freaking dub is too much😂😂😂😂
React to “the fly”
Hii from Indonesia :) But can speak Korean, English, Chinese, Spanish.... I really love when it's the Kuntilanak part LOL
I feel kinda bad for Queen Mary... relegated to a monster when her own Father was many times worse.
Not to mention her sister. But that's the power of a PR agent for you...
Banshee scare me 🤣 watching Darby O'Gill and the little people. Theres a banshee at the end and that shit was scary as a child. Love ya'll, love the channel ❤ thank you for videos.
I was about to sleep but then this notified! Minji look good!
Ima be disappointed if I get to the mirror dimension and Willy William's "Ego" isnt on repeat
@@devinwhite5064 lmao
Why would you summon a bloody mary if she was gonna try and kill y'alls
@@Pudding--_-- it was a dare among friends, everyone did it for peer pressure. Although there were rumors that she could also help you out in life. Like, if you did what she wanted, she could get rid of a problem for you sort of thing

Omg MJ is so cute!!! You can be whatever you want.
Been 7 months, but they should show them some monsters/creatures from Native American folklore my great grandmother and grandfather were Native American and they used to tell my mom the stories abt The Wendigo, The Skinwalkers, The Uktena, Jistu(The Trickster Rabbit), and alot more, i feel like they’d really enjoy it👌
You should watch the english dub localization of Ghost Stories sometime, they basically turned it into a completely different show and added a lot of hilarious adult humor.
The way she called the name at 7:33 - 7:34 got me cracking up 🤣🤣🤣🤣it was classic and at the same tym funny d way she said it.
I love them so much 🥰🥰🥰
Supernatural taught us how to get rid of Bloody Mary.
They’re all so adorable.
We have a folklore in my country we call amaranhig.. it's not really a ghost but it's a corpse that mimics voices in the cornfields.. if the voice is loud.. it's far... Then if it's silent, it's right next to you.
I'm dressing up as the scarecrow on Jeepers Creepers the movie.
Love their costumes
lol the first scream in banshee movie is the scream of the asari banshee in mass effect 3 XD. She should've called Cmdr.Shepard hahahaha!
Its cool that old horror movies now changed a lot
"his hair looks like croissants" lol. Now I can't unsee that.
Bloody Mary is a dare game we used to play as kids. In a pitch black room (usually a bathroom) you try to summon Bloody Mary by chanting her name 3x while staring in a mirror. It's supposed to be Queen Mary I as that's her nickname.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Mary_(folklore)
awesome world and ossc should defo collab
I'm definitely going to check out that film from Indonesia.😀Out of all these movies,it looked like the most interesting.
Lmao thanks, even as an Indonesian myself I still don't have the courage to watch them 👁💧👄💧👁
I have a hard time watching most Asian ghost movies. They creep me out more than the jump scary movies from Hollywood. Try the ones from Thailand too.
the english dub for Ghost Stories really made the show un-scary for me xD
The girl in the witch costume is HILARIOUS OMGGG🤣🤣
I feel like Joseon era horror movies would be so much scarier than modern Korean horror films LOL
Banshee is from my neck of the woods here in Ireland she's not to be feared thow she's just there to warn u of close family death and prepare u self
the definition from Wikipedia: A banshee is a female spirit in Irish folklore that heralds the death of a family member, usually by wailing, shrieking, or keening. Her name is connected to the mythologically important tumuli or "mounds" that dot the Irish countryside, which is known as síde in Old Irish.
the yuki-onna anime scared me so much lmao I almost yeeted my laptop
I want to add, that it would be wonderful if the 4 girls and 3 guys could collectively go on a global trip and react to things "live" in different countries.
It's fascinating how there are many resemblances about these "lady in white" mythos around the globe:
1. Wearing white muddy dress
2. Long dark black hair spread out front without revealing face
Traditional Yuki-Onna is so beautiful, but that is how she lures people
I really love the reactions from everyone it was hilarious #muchlove
In Sweden we have a ghost/undead called "Mylning"
Basically an undead baby who was denied a name before death. A very angry and vengeful ghost.
Man..watching Horror movies with this girls sounds like a lot of fun..I love seeing their reaction lmao
I'm not even looking at the screen but I love your reactions.
I want to be able to sleep at night.
This is the best episode ever aehuaheuahuehuahe! The scares! The screams! haeuhauehuhauheuahuehae loved it!
Please react to “Jeeper Creepers”,”Friday the 13th” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” scenes.
I'd like them to react to Antlers when it comes out, the monster in that film is based on my favorite cryptid, the Wendigo.
I love these lovely people!! I’d want to watch movies with them.
"May the Devil Take You" 2018 - Director: Timo Tjahjanto
They look way more scarier than the ghosts in the movies :P
With a Banshee the deal is if you hear her someone you know will die but if you see her you're the one who will die. She's not nearly as aggressive as a lot of modern depictions show, she's just creepy and a bad omen.
Bloody mary can be passive or malevolent depending on her mood I'm pretty sure
they should react to the scariest horror games. maybe not playing them but watching a silent gameplay. i recommend scp containment breach, P.T, and cry of fear.
"please fix my head" ahahhahahahah i died when i heard that
Happy Halloween!🎃
Couldn't take the Banshee short seriously because they used the Banshee scream from Mass Effect 3 😂
Ghost Stories dub always has me dying🤣🤣🤣 i can't fuckin breathe right now!!
16:20 was sooooo disappointed they couldn't watch the infamous English dub of that series XD
The 1st story is not just a movie. It's based on an early American story.
