My bolt doesn't have a solid pin retaining the firing pin. It appears to be a split-ring, but it's long sleeve. How to get that out?

That sounds like you are describing a roll pin. It should drive out with a punch. Tap don't pound and see if it moves.

Did the pin replacement solve your no firing problem. Just encountered my issue today. 😒

No Sir it did not. I replaced the hammer spring with a Ruger 10/22 "Extra Power" Spring and that did the trick. I have a video showing that operation.

Did you send it back to Mossberg to have them examine it?

I did not. Moved on to other projects and pushed it to the back of the safe. Maybe one day.

Having gone down this road I think it is more of a hammer spring issue. th-cam.com/video/kKaEQ_U5v90/w-d-xo.html

I need some micrometers. Using a HF plastic caliper here. 😝

I hate to tell you this but that would not be the first place I would look I would look to the gs system if those gas rings are dirty enough they will hold back on the bolt just enough for light strikes or even no strikes also try an Oregun marine spacer tube it will help it stay cleaner

I hate to tell you this but cleaning the gun is the first step I always take.

I know alot of people with them, never had a problem. Just shoot and clean and lube it
