Like drawing poster about confronting a bandit with a knife, when you need to wait at least for one stab and then you're clear to fight back (at that point the victim was lying in the blood pool with bandit moving away). Some people believe that government just afraid of armed riot, if people would have guns. Also, legalising guns may rise the crime levels, because people in Russia are not used to freely have firearms. Situation in here is quite complicated.

Having the barrel so short reduces the range to around 500 yards, a significant decline: but still greater than the effective range of 7.62x39. Accuracy problems and complaints mainly come as a result of the sights. 1, the sights are mounted to the dust cover instead of the trunion block, which without special securing brackets or other means has a lot of play and therefore isn't a steady zero. 2, the sights themselves are simple flip up, very crude, very imprecise, designed for exceptionally close range snap shooting. With Americanized variants of the AKS-74u, many examples have improved dust covers were made more stable and equipped with picatinny rails for mounting of optics such as Red Dot. Other American produced variants have non-folding stocks which allow for the installation of Soviet type receiver side plate optics mounts. In both examples, the weapon's true effective range and accuracy potential are realized. Making for an extremely effective CQB-medium range platform which is light, maneuverable and highly effective. Making the AKS-74u, arguably, the single best PDW weapon ever manufactured. Particularly with the armor penetration and incapacitating effects of the standard 5.45x39mm ammunition, which is not only cheap but also widely available. Which is more than can be said for many other PDW type weapons which use expensive and hard to obtain ammunition in specialized calibers such as FN's P90 in 5.7x28 or Knights Armament's PDW in 6x35mm.

During US Involvement during the Vietnam war, Soviet-Russia saw the small arms what America were using and wanted to make their own shorten compact version of their standard AK assault rifle.The US Car-15/XM177 had a shorter barrel length than standard M16 at 10-11inches and a long unique flash hider & sound moderator at 3-4 inches but with a shorter barrel length, velocity for the light weight 5.56mm round at a little over 2,600 fps.
Such a beautiful gun i still remember how i fell ij love with it back in 2004 when i was 7 haha from the PS2 legendary game Metal Gear Solid 2 my favourite gun ever since..wish gun laws were friendly for ownership of such beasts sadly though not we are stuck shoting pistols and in very rare occasions some semi automatic rifles..got to say i got lucky enough to shot the legendary Kar98k some months ago ;P

the 3 round burst ak74u was for civilians who had 2 year mandatory service/ 1 year mandatory service if in higher education and recently changed to the 9x19 variant for cheaper training cost nothing to do with special forces
Original AK74u is full auto/semi selector only. It has never been produced in 3 round burst. There may have been some prototypes, but not in mass production.

The muzzle booster has two notches on the end for wire cutting, you put the wire in the two notches and then FIRE a round, Most Russian thing ever.
