- The smallest Russian AK variant made, and one of our favorites. How we've missed doing this gun for so long is beyond me. The AKS-74U is a extremely interesting design choice and in today's video we go over how this rifle came about and how it feels to shoot and operate.

"K" stands for "Kalashnikov", the surname of constructer of aks74u
"S" stands for "Foldable"
"74" stands for 1974, the year of mass-production
"U" stands for "Shortened"
This type of weapon is almost 50 years old. It is older than guys who fired this weapon

this particular one is an aks74un, I dont know what N stands for in russian but if it has a side mount rail theres a N in the name

Nobody worth listening to would criticise you for buying one. Even 2, for that matter.
Surprisingly accurate for a gun where you can nearly see the tip of a bullet poking out of the muzzle. And the mag compatibility feature has become way more fun when 5.45 drums were introduced. Forget Chicago Typewriter, try Izhevsk Sewing Machine.
I love how upbeat, enthusiastic, and lighthearted you guys are in every single video! Too bad my 26 years in the Army were nothing like the boys in Garand Thumb. ❤

My husband has a Bulgarian ak74u and he loves it, I remember when he bought the complete kit with barrel in 1999 for 129.00, he says he wished he had bought more.

There is my favorite AKS-74U version called AK-9. The same gun but with 9X39 subsonic cartridge on it. The best gun to own ))

Served in the military with aks74u. Works absolutely fine with all possible muzzle attachments, and without any, including stock muzzle break.
Garand you’ve gotten better. It a lot of fun watching you guys be competitive 😆
Love the outro about debt. My first AR15 was a PSA and I have probably 3,500 rounds through it with only an upgraded Giselle trigger. Still shoots better than my skill level with zero issues. Inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean cheap.

PSA has come a long way over the years, and they’re doing a lot for the 2A.
I believe I watched a video from this years SHOT show that PSA is planning on an AKS-74u line. I've been loving their latest products: The Dagger 9mm, the 5-7 Rock, and the JAKL. I want to see PSA continue to succeed with all of their projects.

@@talltale9760 An AKS-74u American-made Bulgarian clone that can fire 5.56, 7.62x39, 5.45x39, and .300 blackout. I do not see anything sad about that at all.
I've got a suggestion. As you might remember, during the COVID pandemic and all those crazy ammo shortages, some people had to resort to muzzleloaders, and then, even percussion caps were all sold out in some places. So, what I would like you to do is to get your hands on a blunderbuss and see what various junk which may be the only projectiles available after SHTF except for arrows (chopped wood, nails, broken glass, gravel, pebbles, coins, crumpled cans, broken sawblades etc) will do to ballistic dummies.
Go check out taofledermaus they do that but with a 12ga

A blunderbuss is a smoothbore bronze, iron, or steel barreled muzzleloader with a conical muzzle tapering down to load black powder and multiple projectiles. They're nothing alike.

It’s disadvantages were always known, but in the same way you won’t rush into CQB with a berret you wouldn’t shoot a Krink at 600m

That dad advice is some really solid dad advice. Too many people, myself included, incur debt thinking some event is gonna cancel it out and make everything better. Unfortunately its not, it will always be there until it's paid and if theres no money then they will just take something else from you.

Had one of these given to me ( as a gift ) by the troops I was working with in the early 90's as a " Military Adviser " for Afrikan country, had it sent away to the state armaments factory to be cleaned up a little, this is a very good weapon, compact the 5.45x39 cartridge surprised me at how hard it hit and it allowed me the ability to carry 3 weapons with me whilst on the job instead of only 2.
AKS-74U is quite a good assault rifle, at a distance of 200 meters you can confidently hit a chest target. It only heats up quickly, if you shoot at a pace, it’s better not to exceed 6 magazines at a time

The ksuha was my first Kalash build and I still have it, still love it. Fun little gun. Certainly is a potent PDW for drivers and crew. Loved the video, thanks for sharing.
