i love it when he starts singing , so i blessed you with my curse at 1.42, it sends shivvers down my spine, what a beautiful song, and a beautiful voice,
I can't stop of hear his voice...he's great...I love to hear it. I've notice about the lyrics I'ts a shame, but If I have another record I can endure it...
at audiesgirl: Steve Barton made the promo versions and everybody was totally sure about beeing him on Broadway. But as you know, the original director of the show is not really "welcomed" in the us and so the composer and an assistant director worked out the preproduction of Vampires.. For minimising the financial risk they´ve put a bigname on castlist. this bigname with some "attitudes" rewrote the script and well, yes, the show was ruined from the very beginning. a very bad musical sin :-/
Is there a cd of this? I've been looking and I can only find Crawford in English. Nothing against Crawford...but he didn't touch Barton in Dance of the Vampires. A cd of Barton in English would be perfect :)
I know this comment is pretty old, but you can download this recording and other English versions of the songs with Steve Barton on Jim Steinman's site for Tanz der Vampire :) jimsteinman.com/dotv/multimedia.html
I usually like the german original better, but "Gott ist tot" (original sin) is a way better song in the english Version. I like the lyrics more that in german
@@Oscar_Wednesday Jim Steinman wrote the original lyrics and music for this musical - most melodies/lyrics have been used before from various artists (Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler etc...)
Do they have this on iTunes or something? I really want to use it in my vampire movie XD Just for audio, I'll put a disclaimer as I wish to make no profit from it.
@purplestar902 search Original sin from Pandoras Box it is the original song .... ohhh I see its a mix rom original sin and total eclipse of the heart...
Ich liebe das Musical, dieses Lied ist einer der Wenigen, des sich in englisch genauso gut anhört wie in englisch XD I love the musical, this song is one of the few of the sounds in English as well as in English XD
Fun fact, Steve was originally going to play Frollo in the Original 1999 Berlin stage production of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame(titled Der Glockner Von Notre Dame). Unfortunately, he suffered a leg injury and sadly lost his life soon after before the show could open, so they premiered with Steve’s stand in Norbert Lamala taking over as Frollo.
yeah, they should have just done the original german version.....and they took out the "God is dead and yet we live on" line. BEST IN THE DAMN MUSICAL AND THEY REMOVED IT.
Vampires are humans whose sins condemn them to eternity on earth in the netherworld outside of God's grace. To them, He is indeed dead for they can no longer feel His presence. Their Hell is to be tormented by carnal appetites they can never satisfy. They hunt those who have not yet fallen from Grace in a futile quest to feel alive. In the later confessional Die Unstillbare, Krolack reflects on his fallen condition. At the end, the vampires warn they will get you, too, if you reject God.
God is dead! No one's still looking for him. We are damned to enternal life. It draws us closer to the sun, but we fear the light. We only believe in lifes, despise self-denial. What we don't hate, that we don't love. What I save, is going under. What I bless, must decay. Only my poison can heal you. To live - you must die.
His low notes are like black onyx getting melted down... what a mysterious man and voice.
Wow! I love your simile. It fits Steve's voice perfectly.

He was the topdog of musical voices. I had the honour of following masterclasses of him. How grateful I am
Beautiful. If I could marry a voice, it would be that one.
I like German words more but his deep voice in his native language... I'm melting it's wonderful.
His voice gives me goosebumps... Oh god what a voice
These lyrics are like a kick in the face, but Barton's voice makes it more than worth it
my favorite line is "you have to die to live forever"
UnvergessenerSteve! Der beste Krolock aller Zeiten!!!

Okay. I found a rival to Géza Egyházi. He is the hungarian Krolock.
I would actually like know just how many Jim Stienman/Meatlof songs are in this musical so I can make a full playlist
I got a bit confused, when it became "Total Eclipse of the heart" for some time within the song.

I heard Steve was dead how he die and for how long ps love tanz der vampire
Barton died on July 21, 2001 in Bremen, Germany at the age of 47. His death was determined to be a suicide.
He died 2001. I think it was a heard attack or something like that.
Anybody know why Barton recorded this in English? Was he originally going to do the Broadway version before they totally messed up the story?
Yep
What's the original song of this music?
Original Sin by Taylor Dayne and later by Pandora's Box, then Meat Loaf and also part of Total Eclipse of the Heart, both written by Jim Steinman.

superschönes Lied, aber die Lyrics enthalten Fehler.

@Konform2zoidberg God is not dead.
in the lyrics there is missing a "been" at "I've BEEN waiting for you since you've been born..."

Hi

It draws us closer to the sun, but we fear the light.
We only believe in lifes, despise self-denial.

GOTT IST TOT!!!!!!!!! WHAT?? lyrics are terrible! Krolock is damned! The German lyrics are so much better.
That's awful. D:
