    Howdy, Brother! I'm about 59 years late to the party but I do appreciate all the time and effort you (and your awesome helpers) put into this educational video. Now that I'm retired, I have a lot of turtle catching and squirrel hunting to do. I can't thank guy like you enough that are willing to share your priceless experience. Thanks again and Drive-On, Cowboy!

    Yup. That's pretty much how my Dad taught me. I love snappin turtle. Tasty meal. I saved my buddy from getting his finger snapped off by one one night. He was reaching for the wrong end in the low light..... I used to catch HUGE ones on yoyos and limb lines. I especially love the meat attached to the shell. There is like a rib cage thing attached to the shell. You can dig that white meat out. I see you left it......

    • @hitormissoutdoors4139
      @hitormissoutdoors4139  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its good meat. My dad taught me as well. That bit of meat in the shell is a little tough to get out because of the bone that is laced over it. Plus with a turtle this size we already have more than we can eat. I should have shown it though. Thanks for watching

      @@hitormissoutdoors4139 It was MY pleasure! It is good reminiscing with folks like myself. I'm amazed in my travels about how many people think we are nuts for eating this delicious hillbilly stuff. I live in Alaska now, but I'm a Missoura boy through and through. Dad's gone now, but my memories of our adventures are just as fresh in my heart as if it was yesterday, fishing, frog hunting, shooting and hunting and such. You put me back there for a while. To be honest, I have gotten it out several times before. But for the work it is to get those strips out for that little bit of meat, It’s not worth it in my opinion. These turtles are already more than we can eat without them. It is a tasty strip though, just not easily accessible.

    Yeah my name is Robert and when I was young we've determined all the time a grandpa I'm going down a crack sticky's hand down a whole one beside the bank pull out turtles and we had turned all the time and in my grandmother she hid take the top of the shell and he had drilled 4 holes in it and put wires on it and eat hanging up for flowers and I want my And my grandma Put flowers in them It'd be hanging around the house off to the rafters the overhang And my grandma Wood put Flower pots in Them. Yeah the way they always cooked them was you took a 1/2 cup of milk, 2 eggs, salt & pepper It's made of matter and put the turtle meat in there and move it around, And she would put the in meat in a bag with flour and fry, I'm l'll tell you real good and then put him in some grease and a big Iron skillet and she'd fry the meat up and it just made your mouth water every time you took a bite, it was like eating fried chicken and it was better than chicken. If anybody wants to try it ,you can either do it like he said or the best ways like i said. But I'm sure great both Ways. Enjoy.
