I usually only slow cook it for about 3 hours then pull it bread it and fry it to finish the cooking. I grew up eating turtle and my grandma could slow fry turtle in her Dutch oven and it would be crispy but still pretty tender but I could never pull it off without the slow cooker first haha

You made that turtle look really good! Have you ever tried eating softshell turtle? I'm always catching them while catfishing and heard they are just as good if not better than snapper.

I haven’t had soft shell before. I’ve been told it’s good if you can get past the smell.

Theres so many turtles in the pond in my neighborhood and theres giant snapping turtles. I fed one a fish I caught the other day. I wondered if it would be alright if I caught a turtle and ate it. I was going to slow cook him on the weber grill.

We purge them, skin em, debone, soak in milk or buttermilk over night, bread them with flour and some seasoning and fry them at 335. Comes out perfect but everyone that i see doing them on here cooks the turtle and than fries it. Why?

Probably easier to de-bone once they are cooked. You see in the vid the bone just slips right off the meat.

@justmert2512 I'm telling you man, you don't even have to do that. It's not tough or chewy. Same consistency as a homemade chicken nugget. Just fry them hot and fast.

I wold take that broth from that 6 hours of slow cooking Strained It And made it really nice gravy. Return the turtle back to the gravy and let it simmer. Homemade smash taters and vegetables..
