  • In this video I answer 8 questions from a wonderful subscriber that I think coincidentally touch on some of the most important and representative issues in MUN = Model United Nations.
I hope this was helpful!! If yall like the idea of a series let me know, or would you rather I just do a few videos rather than a series?
Next video is about the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) and how to prepare for it, so subscribe to stay tuned :DDDD

I won Best Delegate in my first MUN conference and my fellow delegate "friend" was super jealous. If u are in your first conference I have a tip, you don't need to be a main submitter and shit just do your opening speech well, volunteer for motions and ask thousands of POI's for every single speech.

      POI- Point Of Inference.
It’s just a fancy term for “asking questions”.
Basically, ask a lot of very specific questions. It makes you look very knowledgeable on the topic.

To get over anxiety just try to talk in front of the group as much as possible. It’ll go away.

    • @luxiosk
      @luxiosk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +70

You should practice speaking in front of friends, family, or someone you trust in general. If you never step out of the box, it going to stay hard to speak in front of people. Of course, don't force yourself into uncomfortable situations but do push yourself. Also practicing your speech on your position paper or anything you would think is necessary will help. This is very important. This will help stop stumbling over words and will make you feel more confident in general. This is late, but I hope this will help you or anyone who reads this.

    • @luxiosk
      @luxiosk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +41

@@jasmineh436 Good luck with your conference! Just remember to have all of your notes ready, practice speaking more if you can, and just sleep and take care of yourself the night before. It's okay to be stressed, but try your best to relax. What activity relaxes you? During the conference, if you're comfortable, try to push yourself to speak, and just enjoy yourself! During my first conference, I remember being very nervous, but other delegates were very friendly and amiable. Also, making a mistake is totally fine! People will understand that it's your first conference. Nobody expects first-timers to do everything correctly automatically. I may not know what having social anxiety is like, and I wish that I could help you out even more. But hopefully, these tips help you out. Best of luck! You'll do great!

okay alright..so I went to my first MUN 2 days ago. a 3 day hectic process with concerts, socials, amazing food, talented people and above all amazing chairs(dais). the first day was quiet awkward. the ones who wanted to talk talked and the others didn't. 99/100 were first timers so they didn't know what shit they were doing.
mind u our topic was "space demilitarisation" and I got "USA" as a FIRST TIMER. the worst country and the country that ACTUALLY MAKES THE WHOLE PROBLEM..it was too much to handle as a first timer. everyone was throwing h8 at me. so much shouting and cursing in unmoderated caucasus...nevertheless, on the second day I had learned how things worked. I forged when my country was offended wether people cared or not, I went up front and ordered my speech loud and clear and got 25/30 votes, my resolutions were accepted, I had 15/30 allies no matter what USA did. these were all amazing experiences. everyone commented on my speech particularly, so did the Dias. but although I didn't win the award I know I will next time..I can't believe the 3 days went so fast I wish I could relive all those amazing times over..

I know I'm late and I'm not her, but I can give you a brief on how you could research for a conference:
      1) use the website 'bestdelegate' to get to know more about MUNs, research patterns, how a conference works etc.
      2) start with getting to know your portfolio or country. Use the CIA world factbook for an overview about your country's population, government, GDP etc. You can also use the IMUNA webpages to get to know about your country's allies etc
      3) read your committee's mandate thoroughly. Acquaint yourself with the workings of it.
      4) read about your agenda(s), past resolutions, problems, proposed solutions, speeches etc
      5) try to understand your country's stance on the agenda. Know about any laws that have been made, treaties that have been ratified and other actions that have been taken by your government. You also need to know about the flaws in your country in relation to a particular issue.
      6) disect your agenda in to sub topics. This can be very hard at first but it gets easier as you gain experience. Eg, if your agenda is promotion of women equality, possible sub topics could be
      a) the role of NGOs and CSOs in promoting women equality
      b) causes of gender inequality
      c) patriarchy as a means of demeaning women empowerment
      d) social media and women empowerment
      Etc
      7) Try to find flaws with existing international frameworks and other country's laws so that you can question them. Eg if the agenda is women empowerment, you could question the delegate of USA about there being no paid maternity leave in most states.
      8) prepare a research binder
      9) listen to the other delegates. Talk to experienced people and have a good time :)

As a Chinese, I suggest you get more facts and read the rumour refuted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The truth is very different from the rumour. The so-called re-education Center is a centre for vocational skills education and training. It is a centre for preventive measures taken to counter-terrorist organizations. 😊 Anyway,I hope you can make a successful delegation!

It is about Ukraine signing treaty of Amity and cooperation. (ASEAN treaty for peace and cooperation) and I got Algeria.
Now I don't know from where to start my research. There is little information on Google regarding this treaty.
If anyone is experienced, kindly help.

Tbh research is not that imoortant especially if your country is neutral ( do learn about points your country can get bashed on and be ready to defend it )
Bash others and do have dirt on your enemy countries
Raise your placard each and every fucking time
Participate alot in unmod (very important as 60% points are given to u based on ur unmodding )
Try to make your own bloc, manipulate people to join it and be dominant while being diplomatic
Last and a lil important in my opinion is that be friendly with your chairs as they are the one who are gonna give an award , im not saying that they will do favouritism but its human psychology that you will make impact on their brain )
Lastly, share your frameworks and next ideas with dias all the time and ask for their critiques, dias will take that in mind that you were actually participating
Hope this helps and yes thi is extremely informative ❤
