    I've met Josh's dad before, he used to be the principal of the old high school I went to(he's a big ass guy lol). He told his son's about me and he gave me one of their books and Josh and Noah autographed it. Pretty awesome to see Josh in this podcast!

    Really like episodes like this. Lots of useful technical info and fast-paced - no awkward moments or dead spots in the conversation. Seemed like Mark really enjoyed this too which was cool.

    Great episode. Bryant has an encylopedia of knowledge on not just training but some of the history as well. Wondering what Josh thinks of devices such as the Push Band or Tendo Unit for measuring velocity of the bar when doing CAT training, especially with percentages for Circa Max lifts?

    About the gun dialogue part: I agree that being stronger/bigger may give you an intimidation factor via confidence (how you carry yourself), but that's almost the same argument given for martial artists; that taken to absurdity, is unreasonable. The ideal form of self defense in this age isn't martial arts, or being physically strong, it is operating and carrying a firearm. Any other form of self defense is supplemental.
    If you live in a state where it inhibits this, like California, then you really should consider moving, as it is a harbinger of things to come with other rights and property stolen (taxed).
    One last thing: the right to use weapons, including firearms, is a matter that is fundamental - self-evident - in that an agent of civil government should not hinder the citizenry so much in regards to self-preservation; whether against an oppressive regime, or against a few evildoers; that to disable the potential of a citizen against these enemies, contradicts the basis of civil government in the first place - which is the matter of protecting an individuals rights of life, liberty, property (which includes protecting these for himself and others).
    I suspect some try to flex what rights they have left (queue martial arts or strength), and romanticize it - rather than getting pissed and moving to a place that maximizes their freedom. Laziness?

    • @kveldulfpride
      @kveldulfpride 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      John redcorn That almost sounds like a troll thing to say. You're really going to sit there and say a knife is more effective close up than a firearm?
      A sledge hammer is a devastating weapon, but we're talking effeciency here.

    • @kveldulfpride
      @kveldulfpride 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      John redcorn Assuming you get that close, but I doubt someone will stay static and let you stab them. That and hip/chest shooting would be hard to knock out the gun of someone's hand - they have their other arm - which should be forward - to push/redirect you.
      Oh and here's a novel idea, you can carry both a knife and a pistol. The pistol is still more effective though.

    eddie hall would destroy the current world record raw bench. he dosent even focus on the bench press yet easily gets 6+ reps on a 8ft bar with 265kg. seriously Mark smelly bell you need to get eddy on the show!

    • @frodothehobo9938
      @frodothehobo9938 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      he doesn't need to focus on the bench, his sport mandates extremely heavy overhead pressing. overhead press has extremely strong carry over to bench press. infact a lot of oly lifters can retire from oly, walk into powerlifting meets and out bench everyone after just 2 weeks of practicing the movement

    • @tatts_with_traps
      @tatts_with_traps 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      very true Bro Eddie won worlds strongest man once big z won it four times and the Arnold 8 if big z consitrated on bench press in his prime he would of had a good blast at the bench record,,, look everyone went for biz z log record but realised how heavy 230kg is on a log,,,, big z lifted a 220 log so many times super squart,,,, edd Hall got the 500kgdeadlift but since I moved from strong man to powerlifting I realised how hard it is to hold on to the bar with no straps because you have to considerate on holding on to that bar plus that lock out,,,, Eddie is not the strongest static person of all time bill kazmare biz z to me there the better static strengh guys and now big thor bjorsson is up and coming
