    Awesome video, Peter. Thank you for posting, made it a lot easier for me to determine an estimate for the age of my new orandas.
    Another question for you: The goldfish that were mostly lacking color, kind of like a brownish/blackish color… Did those ever develop into any other colors? That is pretty much how all 3 of mine look at about 18-20 weeks. I couldn’t tell if any of yours had changed from that since the amount of fish changed often

    • @peterskoiandgoldfish8261
      @peterskoiandgoldfish8261  ปีที่แล้ว

      @caitlinmaynell2780 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They need around 15-20 gallon tank for one goldfish, plus 10 gallons for every extra fish added. They need a lot of room or their growth will be stunted and they will die prematurely. They need to be fed once or twice a day, preferrably with pellets. 10% water changes every week and algae may grow so consider cleaning all the plants every month or whenever needs doing. You can also get a scraper or sponge to clean off the glass. (if you can, leave the fish in the tank, but keep the filter running as the algae will pollute the water, then do a water change once finished.).
      An air pump and good quality filter is necessary.
      FOR FRY-------------
      Take the eggs out of the tank, as the goldfish will eat their eggs/babies. Put them in a separate container or tank prefferably with an air pump on a low setting. If you can get a sponge filter I would advise it as it will keep the water clean without sucking up or hurting the fry, if not, do not use a filter.
      Feed them either a liquifry feed solution for egg hatching cold water fish, or make a brine shrimp hatchery. (You can find many videos online about this and how to feed brine shrimp). You should be able to purchase this from an aquatics store or petshop.
      Once the fish have hatched, leave them for around two days until they begin to swim freely. For the first 24 hours-48 hours they will sit on the floor or sides and will not be ready to eat.
      Once they are a couple days old and have starting to swim properly, give them their first meal. (If you cannot purchase brine shrimp eggs or liquifry, I suggest grinding goldfish flakes to powder and trying that in very small amounts. If they don't seem to be eating any, look into feeding cooked ground up egg yoke. (this is a last resort as it dirties the water very quickly).
      Do water changes every 3-5 days and take out just a little bit of old water, and put in dechlorinated fresh water. Keep the water level below 6-8 inches as the fry must be able to get gulps of air from the surface.
      As the fry get bigger, increase the food slowly. (give bigger flakes if that is their diet) and introduce new foods slowly.

    Hello! Could you please give me your instructions on feeding them? Some of my hatchlings started free swimming in a few hours, and I left some crushed boiled egg yolk at the bottom of the tank I'm keeping them in. How long should I continue feeding them egg yolk and when should I start brine shrimp? And how long do I continue the brine shrimp? Please help me out!

      @peterskoiandgoldfish8261  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Nazneen! You can start brine shrimp as their first food. I prefer it over boiled egg yolk because the food is live and wont just sit there and rot. If you use egg yolk, you'll need to change the water often and thats sometimes hard to do with baby goldfish. Feed brine shrimp until they are big enough for daphnia or blood worms! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    And can u tell how to know the gender of fishes

    • @peterskoiandgoldfish8261

      Much easier to tell when they are spawning. Male chases the plump female. Male also has breeding stars.

      I put the other fry into my koi pond to allow my favorite fry more space to grow and develop in the tank. Thanks for watching Day!

      Hi Pogie TV, the mother was a black moor but none of the fry looked like her in terms of color. Body shape was kind of like a moor but color were all red and white. Subscribe for updates!
