    After 35+ years working on wells I can assure you that you have barely scratched the surface of weird plumbing jobs on wells. There are systems out there that you take one look at and want to get drunk and then there are well pits that you climb into and look down to see a coiled rattlesnake between your feet. You never know what you will find.

    I was a nervous wreck....but I installed my own and after the experience and problems I ran into ...I have the confidence to do a hundred more....better then paying some one thousands....spent $650 on a good brand from local place where contractors go....$200 on new brass tee, pressure valve, valve, ....ect.....

    I see you're a subscriber to the "bigger the gob better the job" school of thought for pipe dope application

      Hell yeah, so long as it's not inside the pipe or up past the threads, a nice even coat is fine. The extra will squeeze out and get wiped off anyways. Sealant is cheap, leaks are expensive.

    The well head was quite rusty and dusty!! Good job!!

    Did you put the plumbers tape on in the wrong direction? It should be wrapped on the threads the same way you thread it in. Not being critical because your video is excellent and i would be as diligent and directed as you have been!

      Did I? Don't get me wrong, I do dumb shit like that all the time, but I usually catch myself and fix it. Where does it show me putting the tape on backwards?
      No offense taken at all. We're all here to learn and teach, and I'm thankful you're enjoying the videos! :)

    I see you are using stainless steel replacement parts. Just has some stainless steel parts installed replacing brass parts and now not sure if it is sweating or leaking. Does stainlesss steel sweat more as opposed to brass?

    i've never seen a well inside the basement, always outside. wonder how they dug it and got the giant well drill/digger in there? i remember when we had to replace ours along with the pressure tank on the old farm, what a job that was!

    • @Physicsduck
      @Physicsduck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you ever seen the long flexible shaft digging machines they use for running cable under sidewalks and such? They may have used one of those. It would explain the ten-foot ceilings in the basement, because you'd need that space to arch the drill over and point it down the hole. Or, perhaps, and I'm just guessing here, it may have something to do with the manhole directly over the well. ;) This is the first time I've ever seen a well in the basement too, and I'm pretty happy to have it inside. Though honestly, I'd prefer city water!

    Make sure that pressure switch is at least 12” off the floor? Per National plumbing code!

    Good work! But my guy you dont need to wrench on everything so hard. 😂
    Edit: dont forget to verify the presure tank bladder pressure and have it be 2psi below the cut in pressure.

    Where can I pick up one of those manifolds you have the pressure switch in? Thanks

    • @Physicsduck
      @Physicsduck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a standard well-tank manifold. I got this one from supplyhouse.com
