Newt is a Hufflepuff, you can see his school scarf when the customs guy checks his bag. I also have the exact same reaction as you did every time I see Tina munching that hotdog. It really does look awesome. It was a house elf & he was polishing wands, not shoes. The elevator attendant was a goblin though, you can tell by the fact he was wearing clothes. The mob boss guy was also a goblin. Goblins seem to be much more integrated into magical society in the US than in Europe. A European goblin wouldn't be caught dead working at the Ministry of Magic, for example. Fun fact: the first two spells we hear Newt cast in this film (alohomora & petrificus totalus) are both spells cast by Hermione in the first HP movie. So the thing that bites Jacob was a murtlap. In the books, Hermione gives Harry a solution of stewed murtlap tentacles to soak his hand in after he gets tortured by Umbridge. However instead of a hat that reads your personality, it’s four statues and you’re inside a Gordian knot in the center of a circular room and if the statue reacts to you that’s the house you’ve been sorted into. I felt the same way, Ames, about watching the FB movies after loving HP so much. I hope you keep going... there are some good connections to other plotlines and characters in the wizarding world. Keep it up!
I was hoping you would watch this one because I knew you'd enjoy the animals. Thanks for sharing your reactions! What's your favorite animal, fantasy and real?
In the books, the Nifler was used by Hagrid's class when he became a Professor. He hid 50 gallions in a freshly dug mound of dirt and the students had to pick a Nifler to search the mound. The student whose Nifler found the most coins would get a large bar of chocolate. As it happened Ron's Nifler found the most. The Murtlap was mentioned in the books when Hermoine recommended Murtlap oil to Harry to tend to the wounds on his hands from Umbridge's punishments. The Erumpent horn was something that Luna's father had in their house mounted on a wall. Hermoine told him that it was very dangerous and could explode, but he refused to believe it. Dumbledore's sister was turned into an Obscurial when she tried to hide her powers and was made fun of by some muggles boys who were then killed by Dumbledore's father.
Gellert Grindlewald was the kid wizard that stole the Elder Wand, which Voldemort went to Azkaban to see and ask where he could find it, and Gellert told him Dumbledore had it.
Wowowow Nurmengard, his actually own tower where he used to prison his own enemies. Where Dumbledore himself made him prisoner. Nobody survives literally decades in Azkaban
25:34...that's one of the most interesting facts we could see in the books...house elfs are damn powerful than a normal wizard. They can do stuffs which a wizard/witch can't even think about. (Just like how Dobby was able to apparate into the cellar in HP7 where nobody else could not and how Kreacher was able to retrieve the locket effortlessly while his "master" was helpless) But the sad part is that they are enslaved forever!!!!!!
So there were supposed to be 5 movies. Unfortunately due to controversy around JK, J Depp & now Ezra Miller; critical reviews; and failure of last film at box office, WB is not making the final 2 and seems instead to be focusing on a reboot of HP. ( I personally don’t think they need to remake HP, at least not yet). I really liked all 3 movies in part because I love all the critters immensely. I also think Eddie Redmayne is a wonderful Newt. And even though you heart & head is still in HP (I totally get that), watching them right after helps you pick up on little things. For next movie, pay attention to wands. 😊
Really enjoyed this one when I found it. Such great characters developed within the story. I don’t have to imagine entering this country on a ship. I did it, with my Mum and Dad in 1956, on the R.M.S. Franconia. Visited peeps in New York and then on a plane to Los Angeles.
I’m so glad your continuing the wizarding world with the prequels the first one this film won the franchise their first Academy Award (Oscars) for Best Costume Design it’s amazing released five years after the last HP movie in 2016. Well enjoy
So I had quite a bit of fun with these movies, Eddie is an almost constant joy BUT I do have issues from a technical, screenwriting perspective with all of the films. This one is the best of the three (from a script POV) but I still feel like it could have been tighter. There is no need for the senator/newspaper subplot, it adds absolutely nothing to the story & cutting it would really have helped the pacing a lot. We'll obv get to specifics when you watch the next two but completely generally speaking, I would describe the second film as "uneven", while the third is sadly a bit of a mess.
I disagree. The second one is a mess, there's too many stories going on at the same time and none of them progress the main story. The third one is a bit simple and empty, but at least it has a beginning, a middle and an end AND the main story progresses A LOT as well as the characters.
1. Hey! Have you started reading the books yet? 2. The _Fantastic Beasts_ films are not based on books, they are original screenplays written by J.K. Rowling. The books you can buy are either the screenplays to the films or the in-universe book "written Newt Scamander" that is an encyclopedia of magical creatures. 3. Definitely plan a trip to New York to go see the Harry Potter play, _Harry Potter and the Cursed Child._ *Do not read up on it or look up things about it or read the book beforehand.* The book is just the script of the play. It is an original two-part play co-written by J.K. Rowling that starts right at the end of the books/films and it is amazing to watch on stage.
@@holddowna Nice! Regarding what you were saying at the end of the video, I do think that a mistake some people who didn't get into these movies made was expecting "more Harry Potter", when this is not what that is. It is its own thing, set in the same world.
Nifflers aren't mentioned in the HP movies but they are mentioned in Order of the Phoenix book. Remember Hermione's magical bag in Deathly Hallows? It's the same here with the case, Newt's portable menagerie so he can take care of his beasts while travelling. How did Newt know about Graves being fishy? Simple rewatch the interrogation scene. Graves mentioned the Grindelwald agenda and wanted to kill Newt as soon as he understood his cover was gonna be blown off. WHo else at that time could have possibly wanted to turn an Obscurial into a weapon of mass destruction and terror? Thunderbirds come from the native indians mythologies. In HP verse, they are cousins of Phoenixes. Occamy Eggs are made of silver remember, that's is worth a little sum, especially in times of Depression with inflation... Swooping Evil venom is properly diluted can take care of BAD memories. Jacob didn't have bad memories of magic, so it stayed in his subconscious until Queenie came back.
So in the HP movies, they show Neville marrying Luna. However, in the books. Luna married Rufus Scamander who is Newt's grandson. Neville married Hannah Abbott.
@@holddowna hey, if you continue reading, it will be a good content idea to give your thoughts on books... you can even break your review in multiple parts
Newt isn't so much the Chosen One, but he is Dumbledore's former best student. Unlike Harry, Newt Scamander is a Hogwarts graduate passionate about magical creatures. Newt's specialization in this obscure field and his self-created purpose makes him a better and more interesting hero than Potter Newt was clearly the more skilled wizard between him and Harry, there's no denying that. Newt isn't a conventional wizard, but he is one of the most powerful wizards in Harry Potter Newt appears to be a very competent wizard. Transfiguring his suitcase into magical habitats for his creatures shows some powerful ability, not to mention my dude newt had fight a healthy Grindelwald/graves newt didn't have much help from other wizards Harry had an entire school and of a bunch of trained adult wizards to take out his problem. Graves also had a lot more insight on newt and his weakness due to being disguise as Graves (he was also a magical law enforcement officer)
When I watched this one a few years back, I felt the same way. It was entertaining but I didn't care that much and I ended up forgetting most of it and not watching the 2 others 🙈 But last month I rekindled my HP love so I rewatched it and this time I loved it 🤷♀️ I'll watch the 2 others soon then watch your reactions 😊
@Hold Down A Yeah, the books are so much better than the movies. I also have to agree with your assessment of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise. It really isn't all that "tissue worthy."
I think newt carried this movie well, I love that he is socially awkward because it makes him more flawed and human but he’s also easy to root for because of his unconditional love for his creatures
I think that alot of the "hate" that the Fantastic Beasts movies get is because this is about adults, operating in adult worlds, with adult motivations. Harry Potter was originally conceived of as for very young children and while Rowling aged up the books as she went along, they never became purely Adult books (the dedication to the "Deathly Hallows" book is "To the Children"). While the movies (under Yates) went darker earlier than the books, we were still following characters we first met as children. That never happened with the Fantastic Beasts characters, so can we accept Adults acting as Adults? For instance, take the theme of Parental Abuse of Children, which is present in both the Harry Potter Novels and in this first Fantastic Beasts movie. In the "Harry Potter" series, we only get the IMPLICATION that Harry is abused by his Aunt and Uncle - and too many people reading or watching the series happily gloss over it. In this movie, we not only see Credence being repeatedly abused by Mary Lou Barebones, it is what creates the Obscurus which drives the whole action in the movie. There's no possibility of ignoring the abuse Credence suffers, so viewers are compelled to accept that Mary Lou Barebones is an ABUSER in a way they were able to ignore the abuse inflicted by the Dursleys. Credence's character is also incredibly important in the other movies, so, again, the whole series hinges on the reality that Credence was abused by a Maternal figure and Maternal abuse of Children, while occurring far more than most people are comfortable with, is something Society as a whole is still not prepared to confront. So we have a VERY Adult theme in a series that most of the fandom still wants to see as " For Kids". Hence the "Hate"...
Honestly this movie was a huge let down. I saw it in the theater and I couldn't wait for it to be over. The closest I'll get to watching this movie again is seeing your reaction. That said, I actually liked the second and really enjoyed the third. It's a shame the box office reception of the third was so poor. I suspect the pandemic had a lot to do with it. It really deserves a proper ending.
This still can be a cool franchise, but as you can see, is not the same vibe than HP and is clear than in order to "accelerate" the production and make a good "blockbuster" they're killing what made HP an unforgettable story and make it just another franchise with a bunch of lightings, with I as a fan who read the books, hate. You might like to know than Rowling by Warner and production orders wrote FB script in just one year and next ones are not much better. Its so clear how much they just rid off the love of details in order to "finish the product on time". Even if they have an amazing cast. In the books, the battle Dumbledore-Grindelwald (wich is where these movies are being conducted despite the "fantastic beasts" name) it's described as "the most amazing magic battle of History of Magic" and I'm seriously worried is gonna being disappointing. Thanks warner.
Oh ho ho, look at you, down the rabbit hole. Nice catch with Minority Report, that undeniable voice. I felt about the same in the end….a bit disconnected, much less drawn in compared to Harry Potter. I didn’t really love any one character the same way, though it was a “magical” movie, and neither of us really had anything to cry about, haha. Anyway, I kinda forgot a lot, as I watched during a bad case of covid. I’ll have to rewatch the first 2 and watch the 3rd one to keep up with you. Maybe I can try to connect with the story more, and it really is time for me to see The Secrets of Dumbledore.
Rewatched 1 & 2, then this reaction again, and will watch 3. So, I’m all caught up and ready for your next one. I was thinking of why HP was so captivating in comparison. I think it was easy to be invested in children and those that treat them well, and witness their development. You hope for them to grow up strong, protected, and to see them triumph over evil. So, HP had the most compelling underlying storyline along with being so well acted. I think that’s why Lockwood & Co on Netflix is soo good, plus the magical element. But, Magical Beasts was much better for me this time around (especially #2) catching a lot more and could follow you easier. Subtle thing at the end, after Queenie kisses Jacob, there is a thin stream of water extending upward from her wand, or the water is flowing around a “spell”. Hmmm. Their relationship makes you think about how they decide who get’s to be aware of the wizarding world, as “mixed marriages” become more accepted thru the years. See you in the second one!
Thanks for reminding how funny and dark with a few tender moments this film is. Katherine Waterston is a talented stunner ( thats not sexists at all ) Eddie Redmayne is just class. Not taking away from the other actors and actresses but my favourite character was Teddy The Niffler. Determined cheeky little fellow. Ames another great emotional reaction. Cheer's Gorgeous.x 🇬🇧 Suggestion: Galaxy Quest. Sci-Fi comedy big names no spoilers here. I know you'll love it. Bye for now.

It was a pleasant surprise to see this reaction ❤️ This one might be a bit slow since they try to focus on the magical beasts and tried to get as much information out. Can't wait to see your reaction on the 2nd one, as it's my favorite! Though the majority won't agree, as it defies some timelines and it was released at the height of hatred towards JD. But nevertheless, still looking forward to more wizarding world content.

When I first saw that room I was thinking that’s way way over kill lol
That’s death potion…in one of the HP movies they said even a drop can kill a room full of people….and that room has a pool of it lol insane
I felt the same way, Ames, about watching the FB movies after loving HP so much. I hope you keep going... there are some good connections to other plotlines and characters in the wizarding world. Keep it up!
You don’t want a niffler. They destroy your house. Haggis mentions that in the books.
They cute thou!
I was hoping you would watch this one because I knew you'd enjoy the animals. Thanks for sharing your reactions! What's your favorite animal, fantasy and real?
I’ll have to think on it!! But cats/tigers and I love dragons!
Magical America was interesting to me. I thought Graves was a much better character in his own right then the Grindelwald reveal.
If she wasn't going to read the books yet, then you just posted a spoiler for the third movie :(
At about 26:00 that New York accent is Ron Perlman, AKA 'Hellboy' among other movies.
Yayy🥳...can't wait to see your reaction to the third one😍😍😍
Gellert Grindlewald was the kid wizard that stole the Elder Wand, which Voldemort went to Azkaban to see and ask where he could find it, and Gellert told him Dumbledore had it.
And Grindelwald refused to tell Voldie about Elder Wand in the book.... which is the version i prefer.
Numergard not Azkaban but yeah
Wowowow Nurmengard, his actually own tower where he used to prison his own enemies. Where Dumbledore himself made him prisoner. Nobody survives literally decades in Azkaban
Wrong prison
Thanks for the correction guys
25:34...that's one of the most interesting facts we could see in the books...house elfs are damn powerful than a normal wizard. They can do stuffs which a wizard/witch can't even think about. (Just like how Dobby was able to apparate into the cellar in HP7 where nobody else could not and how Kreacher was able to retrieve the locket effortlessly while his "master" was helpless) But the sad part is that they are enslaved forever!!!!!!
I have always wondered how wizards defeated or tricked them into eternal slavery? 🤔
It's very cute! 😊 Love the little love story and the happy ending in the bakery. 💕 Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness, so glad you’re watching these! Enjoy!
✨✨✨
Yay your back 😊. Great reaction like always.
👋🏽I’m back!! Thanks for watching!
Yes. Finally :) and i asked for it in the last vid for nothing. You knew where to go
I really hope they make the final 2 movies.
Well enjoy
That’s cool! Because I noticed how amazing the 1920s costumes where!
That’s a great explanation John! Ya there was just something a miss! But I agree Eddie was amazing! Cast was great! Maybe too many beasts LOL
I disagree. The second one is a mess, there's too many stories going on at the same time and none of them progress the main story. The third one is a bit simple and empty, but at least it has a beginning, a middle and an end AND the main story progresses A LOT as well as the characters.
Newt’s book that he writes is one of the books that Harry Potter buys for his first year at Hogwarts
Yes I’m on book 1! Slow to start because I work and edit all day long! LOL but I am loving it!
@@holddowna Nice! Regarding what you were saying at the end of the video, I do think that a mistake some people who didn't get into these movies made was expecting "more Harry Potter", when this is not what that is. It is its own thing, set in the same world.
hey ames!
thanks Luisa!!!! Imm glad i watched this one!! but i am loving the first book so far!!! HP is just too good!
GREAT REACT & "Follow Your Bliss." ^_^
Yes!!! I've been waiting for more wizardry world reactions!!! 😀
Happy to see someone atleast reacting on this Wizarding World.....I request you to complete the series 🙏
🇮🇳❤️
i love how you keep saying buddy
The story of Grindelwald (although not close to this extend was in the Harry Potter books). and Newts Book is also mentioned.
So in the HP movies, they show Neville marrying Luna. However, in the books. Luna married Rufus Scamander who is Newt's grandson. Neville married Hannah Abbott.
I don't know if you know this, Harry read Newt's(Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) book as his syllabus at Hogwarts
I don’t just started book 1
@@holddowna hey, if you continue reading, it will be a good content idea to give your thoughts on books... you can even break your review in multiple parts
Newt makes hufflepuff proud 🖤💛 🦡
I love Eddie Redmayne ❤️
Thanks for watching!!!!
He said the egg shells are made of silver, which is why he told Jacob not to pet the snake thing
Coin Farrel was an absolute boss cast for this movie as was Depp
The Niffler was first introduced in the book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". It was a creature in Hagrid's classes, of course!
Can’t wait to get to that book!
I also love him and his awkwardness!
Yass these movies are so good tooooo
You can also see the name Scammander on the marrauders map in Harry Potter movie
Can’t wait to go look
The next few movies are better, this one sets up the world
My favorite part is when Queenie is making strudel for Jacob....
The first fantastic beasts is my favorite.
I love Eddie! He is great in The Danish Girl.
Them getting rid of Johnny Depp didn’t help either
Ive rewatched harry potter so many time and re red the books but ive only just watched these last week
Thanks for watching!! Nice pic of CR7!
@@holddowna The goat and if you havent you should react to pirates if the carabien
His suitcase is like Hermione's bag, and the tent, bigger on the inside, like the TARDIS in Dr Who
Never seen dr who!
Actually the costume design won an Oscar.
Cool!
You learn about obscurus and nifflers in the Harry Potter books and some of these magical beasts
My dear welcome to Fantastic beast , you will find scenes and love stories that would me a chubby guy find hope
Newt and Tina’s grandson is Luna’s husband in HP lore
The shells are pure silver! ( collateral)
Jacob’s laugh: *aHa Ha HA HA*
Thanks for watching Maurice! Thanks for this comment!! Hope u recovered well from Covid!
@@holddowna Thanks Ames! Yeah that was a while ago and one time only. Me strong like bull now - haha.
6:42 Technically Hagrid's like Newt
Ur right!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
2016
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
2018
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
2022
Are you going to do the other 2 Fantastic Beasts films?
Yes! I just needed a break because I loved HP sooo much and this was FUN but not the same! But they will come!
Glad to continue my what is now my sunday tradition even tho these films are no where near as good i atleast get to see more of your reactions :)
Thanks Rick ☺️☺️
Heartbreak is difficult, I wish i'd not have had to do through it.
Love the Niffler! I’ve never seen galaxy quest!
@@holddowna it's not cheesey or cringe comedy and the effects are brilliant. No more hints but it's great. All the best and Cheer's Gorgeous.x 🇬🇧
Occamy eggshells are made out of silver
It’s a series that was supposed to be five movies. It’s stopped at three. There will be no more. And that was a shame.
Fun Fact About The Fantastic Beast Movies Is That They Are Prequels Before The Harry Potter Movies
Yay!
Thats was a "Thunderbird"
You should react to Harry Potter 20th anniversary. It's truly emotional and beautiful
I just got off work and got the greatest surprise!!! THE GOAT STRIKES AGAIN!! Got my snacks, I'll be back to be annoying after I watch 🤷🏽♂️😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣thanks for watching KaiSean! YUM what snacks!
@@holddowna Always!!! Lol.. white cheddar popcorn, Snickers n water.. but the mini Snickers, of course. My fav beast is Pickett (Bowtruckles live in the trees that the bark is fit for wand making, like the Elder Tree) so I got a slim Jim cuz it looks like a wand if u squint and hold it far away from you. 🤣🤣🤣
Hey, glad you’re doing the Fantastic Beasts franchise but don’t forget the Harry Potter 20th anniversary special, as none of the actors of Harry Potter return for these movies. Anyways have a Great Day!
Yes she needs to react to it
@HoldDownA Please see this comment
I will watch don’t you worry!!
@@holddowna Please don't skip any scenes because there's an emotional moment with Robbie Coltrain RIP who played Hagrid also with all the other actors who passed

Omg it's so cool please react to the next 2 parts 🎉
Watch the sequels after
I've never seen the Fantastic Beasts movies, but I read the full script in book form that J.K. Rowling wrote. It's the closest thing so far to a new Harry Potter book. Also, I was wondering; where are you at with reading the HP books now?
I’m on book 1!
God, she's so beautiful, I struggle to pay attention to the movie's all the time...
☺️lol
Watch the sequels after plz
Yaasss!
I saw the books on Amazon
